You can stream a recorded coaching class as a YouTube Live broadcast by sending it from an encoder such as OBS, then checking the preview in YouTube Live Control Room before launching the event. YouTube does not provide a universal “loop this local file” switch in the event setup: configure repeat playback in your encoder or streaming service and test it before going public. First, make sure the channel is eligible to stream and that you have permission for every part of the recording.
Before you start: check channel eligibility and rights
Enable live streaming in advance
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming well before your class broadcast. YouTube says, “Encoders let you stream gameplay, overlays, and use hardware like preamps, mics, and cameras.” See YouTube’s live-streaming encoder setup guide.
Clear the recording for a public online broadcast
Confirm that you have permission for the class recording itself and for any music, clips, images, slides, guest contributions, or learner information it includes. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can interrupt or terminate the stream, and an archive may later receive a Content ID claim. If you have a license, the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
In India, “educational” does not by itself mean a recorded coaching class can be retransmitted to an unrestricted public audience on YouTube. The Copyright Office’s explanation of Section 52 describes specific exceptions, including certain educational-institution activities for limited audiences. Whether an exception or a license applies depends on the facts, including ownership, consent, audience, institution, and third-party material. The Copyright Office’s published Copyright Act text defines a lecture to include an “address, speech and sermon”; that definition is not, by itself, permission to broadcast a lecture. See the Copyright Office’s Copyright Act and rules and YouTube’s live-streaming terms, which place responsibility for necessary rights on the content provider.

Choose how to play and repeat the recording
Local encoder: OBS or another encoder
A local encoder gives you control over playback and the broadcast, but the computer and network connection must remain available for the stream to continue. Add the recording as a playback source in the encoder, then locate and configure its repeat or loop behavior. The exact control depends on the encoder and its current version; YouTube’s setup instructions explain ingestion, not a universal file-loop setting. Test the transition from the end of the video back to the beginning before scheduling a public event.
Managed cloud streaming
YouTube’s encoder guide describes Gyre as “A cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of pre-recorded videos on YouTube.” That is YouTube’s description, not an independent performance assessment. Check the service’s current loop controls, availability in India, pricing, and recovery behavior directly before choosing it; those details are not established by YouTube’s guide. Set up the YouTube Live event and encoder
- Create or schedule the event. Open YouTube Studio, enter Live Control Room, and create or schedule an encoder stream. Follow YouTube’s instructions for creating a live stream with an encoder.
- Copy the connection details. Copy the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the encoder’s YouTube or RTMP settings. Treat the key like a password: do not share it publicly, and regenerate it if it is exposed.
- Load and configure the recording. Add the intended class recording as the encoder’s playback source. Set repeat playback in the encoder or service if needed, and test that it restarts correctly. Do not assume creating a YouTube event makes the file repeat automatically.
- Set the stream output. Use YouTube’s current recommended encoder settings for resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframes. YouTube recommends constant bitrate and a two-second keyframe interval; its bitrate guidance varies by output resolution and frame rate, so choose the matching values from YouTube’s recommended live encoder settings. YouTube also recommends RTMPS; see its encoder settings guidance for the server and protocol details.
- Check upload capacity. Make sure your sustained upload speed exceeds the encoder’s outgoing bitrate and leave headroom. YouTube recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. A speed test is only a snapshot, so test at the time and location you will stream from, preferably with other heavy uploads paused. An optional ethernet cable can help avoid Wi-Fi variability if your computer or adapter and router support it; it cannot fix insufficient ISP upload capacity.
Test privately, then launch and monitor
Preflight before the event
YouTube advises setting up encoders at least two hours before a scheduled event and starting them at least 15 minutes ahead. Begin with a private or unlisted test when possible. Start the encoder, wait for the Live Control Room preview, and check that the picture, audio, and loop transition behave as intended. Verify the event from the relevant channel or watch page and on a mobile device; if you are saving a local archive, check that its file is growing.
- Confirm the correct recording, sound level, aspect ratio, and stream destination.
- Watch a representative section with motion and speech, not just a static opening frame.
- Check the loop point so viewers do not encounter an unintended gap or abrupt transition.
- Make sure the upload connection remains stable under the selected bitrate.
Go live and end cleanly
For a scheduled encoder event, start the encoder and wait for YouTube’s preview before clicking “Go live” in Live Control Room. Keep an eye on the preview and audio while the broadcast runs. When finished, end the event in YouTube and stop the encoder. YouTube’s current encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; review the archive afterward to check playback and any later copyright claim.

Troubleshooting common problems
- Live streaming is unavailable: check channel verification and whether the channel has had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- No preview appears: confirm that the encoder is running and that the stream URL and key were copied correctly. If the key may have been exposed, regenerate it and update the encoder.
- The stream buffers or drops: check sustained upload speed against the selected bitrate, allow YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and reduce competing network traffic. Test a wired connection if available.
- The recording stops instead of repeating: check the encoder or service’s current playback repeat setting and test the end-to-start transition. YouTube event setup does not guarantee local-file looping.
- Audio or video is missing or wrong: inspect the encoder’s selected playback source and audio routing, then review the Live Control Room preview before launching publicly.
- The stream is interrupted over a content match: stop and review the flagged material and your permissions. Contact the rights holder about any necessary Content ID allowlisting; a claim on an archive can occur even after the live event ends.
