This is different from recording separate audio tracks to a file on your computer.
Set up the Twitch VOD track
- Confirm Twitch is your streaming destination. If you use Dual Output, make sure one destination is Twitch. Streamlabs says Twitch VOD Track is not currently available for multistream. See the Streamlabs Twitch VOD Track guide.
- Open Settings > Output. If Output Mode is set to Simple, turn on Advanced encoder settings to reveal the Twitch VOD option. If Output Mode is Advanced, look for the option directly.
- Enable Twitch VOD. Streamlabs uses Track 2 as the default VOD track, but you can select a different track.
- Choose which sources are heard in the VOD. Close Settings and, above the audio mixer, click the gear icon to open Advanced Audio Options. For each audio source, check the box for the selected VOD track if that source should be included; uncheck it to exclude the source from the VOD.
- Check the result with a short test stream. The source assignments determine the VOD mix separately from the live mix. Confirm the intended sources are present in the saved VOD before relying on the configuration for a longer stream.
For example, if music should be audible live but omitted from the VOD, leave the music source in the live mix and uncheck its VOD-track assignment. Keep the other sources checked if they should appear in the VOD.
Twitch VOD audio is not a local multi-track recording
The Twitch VOD setting controls which sources feed Twitch’s VOD output. It does not create editable audio stems in a recording saved on your computer. If you want an editor to work with separate audio inputs later, configure local multi-track recording separately.
| Workflow | Where it is configured | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Twitch VOD track | Settings > Output, then source assignments in Advanced Audio Options | Include or exclude sources in the VOD mix sent to Twitch |
| Local multi-track recording | Output > Recording, then source assignments in Advanced Audio Settings | Save separate audio tracks in a local recording for later editing |
Configure separate tracks in a local recording
- Open Settings > Output and change Output Mode to Advanced.
- Open the Recording section and choose the number of audio tracks you need. Streamlabs documents support for up to six tracks in this local recording workflow; that is a product limit, not a promise that every source will be separated automatically.
- Open Advanced Audio Settings and assign each audio input to the track or tracks where you want it recorded.
- Choose a recording format that supports multiple audio tracks. Streamlabs says FLV does not support them and recommends MP4 or MKV for multi-track recording.
- Make a brief recording and open it in your editing software to confirm the tracks are present and assigned as intended.
Changing these recording settings alone does not change what Twitch saves in the VOD. For the feature locations and format guidance, see Streamlabs’ Streamlabs Desktop Recording Functionality and multi-track recording guide.

Troubleshoot a VOD that has the wrong audio
- The Twitch VOD option is missing: Check that Twitch is selected as a destination. In Simple output mode, enable Advanced encoder settings first. If you are multistreaming, note that Streamlabs says this feature is not currently available for multistream.
- A source is missing from the VOD: Open Advanced Audio Options from the gear above the mixer and check that source’s assignment to the selected VOD track.
- A source still appears in the VOD: Check that its assignment to the selected VOD track is unchecked. Make sure you are changing the VOD track assignment, not only the assignments for local recording tracks.
- Your editor shows one mixed track: Verify that you configured track count and source assignments under Output > Recording, then record in MP4 or MKV rather than FLV.
