Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFor a 24/7 Tamil songs playlist on YouTube, start with OBS at 720p30 or 1080p30, use H.264 with constant bitrate (CBR), set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds, and use stereo AAC or MP3 audio at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps. Choose 1080p30 only if your encoder and upload connection can sustain it with about 20% upload headroom. These are YouTube’s current encoder recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular PC or connection can run nonstop.
Choose 720p30 or 1080p30
For a stream built around songs and static or slowly changing artwork, 30 frames per second is a practical starting point. The main choice is whether the sharper artwork of 1080p is worth the extra upload bandwidth and encoding load compared with 720p.
| Output | YouTube H.264 bitrate guidance | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| 720p30 | 3 Mbps minimum; 8 Mbps recommended | Choose this when the connection or encoder is less dependable, or the artwork does not need as much detail. |
| 1080p30 | 5 Mbps minimum; 14 Mbps recommended | Choose this when the artwork benefits from added detail and your upload connection and encoder can sustain the higher bitrate. |
The bitrate figures are YouTube’s H.264 ingestion guidance, accessed in 2026; they are not a guarantee of stream quality or a tested OBS preset. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% upload headroom. Check upload speed on the actual connection OBS will use, and account for other devices and traffic sharing it. If the connection cannot reliably sustain the chosen output, reduce the bitrate or resolution rather than running at the edge of capacity. YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance and streaming tips explain the recommendations.
Set OBS output and audio
Video and encoder
In OBS, open Settings > Output and configure the streaming encoder for a YouTube-supported mode. Use H.264 if you want to apply the H.264 bitrate ranges above. Set rate control to CBR and the keyframe interval to 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. Encoder choices and exact labels can vary by OBS version and hardware, so select a supported option available in your installation and test it before going live.

Set the output resolution and frame rate under Settings > Video. Use 1280 × 720 at 30 fps for 720p30, or 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps for 1080p30. These output dimensions are the corresponding standard resolutions; ensure your artwork and scene composition look correct at the selected size.
Stereo audio
Use stereo audio at 44.1 kHz and set the audio bitrate to 128 kbps. YouTube supports AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion and lists 128 kbps as its recommended stereo audio bitrate. Under Settings > Audio, choose a 44.1 kHz sample rate if available; under the relevant output or track settings, select AAC or MP3 and 128 kbps. Confirm the music is audible without clipping using OBS’s audio meter and the YouTube preview.

Connect securely
In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the live stream and copy its stream key. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and connect the account or enter the key using the available option. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or share screenshots that reveal it. Use RTMPS when available; YouTube recommends it as the secure version of RTMP. Confirm that OBS is sending to the intended YouTube event before starting the broadcast.
Build and loop the Tamil songs playlist
Loop one file with Media Source
- In the OBS scene you plan to stream, select Sources > + > Media Source.
- Create or select a source, then browse to the local audio or video file.
- Enable Loop in the source properties to repeat that single file.
- Check that the source is visible and active in the scene and that the audio meter responds during playback.
OBS Media Source supports local audio and video files, including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV audio. Consult the OBS Media Sources guide if labels differ in your release.

Play multiple tracks with VLC Video
- Install VLC, then in OBS add Sources > + > VLC Video.
- Add the local files to the playlist in the source properties.
- Set playlist looping as needed. OBS documents Loop Playlist as on by default; enable shuffle only if you want the track order to vary.
- Make sure the VLC Video source is visible and active in the streamed scene. Play the playlist and check both the picture and audio meter.
VLC must be installed, and its bitness must match OBS: the OBS guide specifies 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS. The OBS Sources Guide documents VLC Video and other source options. The official OBS help pages cited here date to 2022, so interface labels may have changed in newer releases.
A browser tab or third-party music service is not a dependable substitute for a local playlist unless you have verified its playback behavior and rights for the broadcast. The documented local-file sources do not establish uninterrupted third-party playback.

Check music rights before going live
Confirm that you have permission for both the musical compositions and the specific recordings, and that the permissions cover a YouTube livestream in the territories where it will be available. A track being online or saved on your computer does not establish permission to rebroadcast it. YouTube’s live settings guidance calls out audio and video rights; it does not clear any particular Tamil song, recording, label catalog, or playlist. Check the applicable rights holder or license for each track before streaming. See YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Test the stream and plan to monitor it
- Start with an unlisted test using the intended playlist, artwork, and audio levels. YouTube recommends testing before a live stream with audio and movement similar to the planned broadcast.
- Review the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages. Confirm the event is accessible and that audio and video quality are acceptable.
- Let the playlist run long enough to check that a track ends and the next begins, or that a single file loops as expected.
- If local recording is enabled, check that the archive file is growing. Do not assume recording is active simply because the live stream is running.
- During the broadcast, monitor for a failed connection, stalled playback, muted audio, or a stream-health warning, and arrange for someone to respond.
YouTube recommends monitoring stream health and the live broadcast, but its guidance does not promise uninterrupted uptime or provide a complete 24/7 failover plan. A local OBS setup therefore depends on the computer, playback source, and internet connection continuing to work. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance and YouTube’s live streaming tips.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Stream health warns about connection or the stream drops | Available upload bandwidth is below the stream’s needs, or other traffic is using the connection. | Check upload speed on the streaming connection; leave about 20% headroom. Lower bitrate or resolution if capacity is insufficient. |
| Audio is missing | The source is inactive, hidden, routed to the wrong track, or not producing playback. | Confirm the source is visible and active, start the playlist, and watch OBS’s audio meter. Verify audio in the YouTube preview before going public. |
| The same track does not repeat | Loop is off on a Media Source, or playlist looping is disabled for VLC Video. | Enable Loop for a single Media Source or check Loop Playlist in VLC Video properties. |
| VLC Video is unavailable or does not play | VLC may not be installed or its bitness may not match OBS. | Install the matching VLC version; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC according to OBS documentation. |
| Artwork looks soft or encoding struggles | The selected output may be unnecessarily demanding for the artwork, encoder, or connection. | Try 720p30 instead of 1080p30, then retest stream health and picture quality. |
| YouTube flags audio or video rights | The channel may lack permission for a composition, recording, or territory. | Review the rights for the exact tracks and recordings and the intended livestream use; remove anything not cleared. |
