For YouTube Live at 1080p and 30 fps, set video bitrate to 14 Mbps with H.264 or 10 Mbps with AV1 or H.265. YouTube lists minimums of 5 Mbps for H.264 and 4 Mbps for AV1/H.265. Those are encoder settings—not the upload speed your ACT connection will necessarily sustain—so test the network and streaming setup you plan to use.
Recommended 1080p30 settings for YouTube Live
YouTube’s live-encoder guidance, checked on October 3, 2026, gives different bitrate recommendations depending on the video codec. Choose a codec your encoder supports and use the matching figures:

These are video bitrates for a live stream at 1080p30, not the total upload-speed requirement for every part of your broadcast. Do not use YouTube’s separate prerecorded-video upload encoding table to configure a live encoder; the workflows have different settings. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
Does ACT Fibernet have enough upload speed?
It depends on your city, plan, connection conditions, and the device and network you use to stream. YouTube’s recommended 14 Mbps or 10 Mbps is the encoder’s video output rate. Your internet upload capacity is a separate measurement, and a plan’s advertised speed does not establish the throughput available to your streaming setup at event time.

ACT’s Bengaluru broadband page says its Bengaluru Wi-Fi plans have equal upload and download speeds and advertises tiers from 50 Mbps to 1 Gbps. That is provider plan information for Bengaluru, not a guarantee of actual performance for every subscriber or a specification for ACT plans in other cities. Check the current offer for your city and test your connection from the place and device you will stream with: ACT Fibernet Bengaluru plans.
If your measured upload is comfortably above the configured stream bitrate, that is useful evidence, but it does not guarantee stability throughout a broadcast. Other network activity and changing connection conditions can affect available capacity. Test the actual setup under representative conditions rather than relying on the plan name alone.

Configure the encoder and test before going live
- Set the output format. Choose 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps in your streaming encoder.
- Select a codec and bitrate. Use 14 Mbps for H.264 or 10 Mbps for AV1/H.265 as YouTube’s recommendations for 1080p30. The encoder must support the codec you select.
- Set bitrate mode to CBR. YouTube recommends constant bitrate for live encoding.
- Set the keyframe interval to two seconds. Do not exceed four seconds.
- Use RTMPS if available. YouTube recommends RTMPS to encrypt the connection in transit; RTMP is also listed as a supported protocol.
- Run a representative preflight. Test from the same device and network you intend to use, with movement and audio similar to the planned broadcast. YouTube specifically advises testing before streaming with similar audio and movement.
- Monitor stream health during the event. Watch YouTube’s stream-health messages and respond to warnings rather than assuming a successful preflight guarantees the live session will remain stable.

Troubleshoot bitrate and connection problems
- The encoder reports dropped frames or YouTube shows poor stream health: Check the upload performance of the active connection and whether other devices or applications are using it. Repeat a test using the same encoder, device, and network conditions planned for the event.
- Your chosen bitrate is above what the connection can sustain: Do not treat the ACT plan’s advertised rate as a live measurement. Test the connection; if it cannot reliably support the selected output, reduce the encoder bitrate or improve the connection before the event.
- You set 10 Mbps for H.264 because it is a 1080p stream: Match the bitrate to the codec. YouTube’s 1080p30 recommendation is 14 Mbps for H.264 and 10 Mbps for AV1/H.265.
- Stream health is unstable despite a seemingly adequate plan: Test from the actual streaming setup and check again close to the event. The advertised plan tier does not verify the performance of that particular connection at that time.
- You are using Wi-Fi and want to try a wired connection: ACT describes LAN connectivity on its Bengaluru plans. Ethernet may help avoid some local wireless variability, but it cannot increase the subscribed plan’s upload capacity or fix an ISP-side problem.
