To screenshot a page with OneTrust consent accepted, make the intended choice on the target site in the same browser context and on the same site origin you will use for capture. Wait for the page to update, confirm the banner is gone, then capture the viewport, an element, or the full page. Dismissing the banner is not necessarily the same as accepting every category.
Accept consent in the browser context you will use for the screenshot
- Open the exact site origin in the browser or automation context that will take the screenshot. OneTrust’s
OptanonConsentcookie is first-party and associated with the domain of the deployed banner script, so consent from another origin should not be assumed to apply. See OneTrust’s cookie documentation. - Make the intended choice in the visible banner or preference center. If the task requires a real visitor choice, use the site’s controls rather than manufacturing or injecting a consent state.
- Wait for the site to update. Check that the banner has disappeared and that the page reflects the choice you made.
- Keep the same browser context and origin while navigating to the page to capture. A new context may not have the consent cookie established by the earlier choice.
- Capture the required area: the visible viewport, a selected element, or the full scrollable page.
OneTrust scripts are configured for particular domains. A mismatch between the scanned/configured domain and the domain where the live script is deployed can prevent consent from being recorded correctly and cause the banner to return. Use production scripts only on the domains for which they were generated. See OneTrust’s banner publishing guidance.
Choose the right OneTrust action
Do not equate closing a banner with accepting all cookies. OneTrust documents materially different behavior for its public methods:

These methods are documented in OneTrust’s JavaScript API reference. Use the site’s preference center when you need a specific mix of categories; do not call an all-consent method merely to make the banner disappear.
Keep OneTrust consent accepted in Playwright
For a repeatable screenshot, accept consent in the same Playwright browser context that will navigate to the target page. The simplest dependable approach for ordinary QA is to let a test operator or approved test flow interact with the rendered banner, then capture using that same page and context.

Capture only the viewport or a specific element
For the visible viewport, omit fullPage:

Pages with lazy-loaded content may need an application-specific scroll or readiness routine before capture; verify that the sections and images you expect are present rather than assuming a screenshot call will make every site finish loading them.
Why does the OneTrust banner keep showing up?
- The capture uses a different origin or browser context. The first-party consent cookie belongs to the site domain and does not automatically transfer to another origin or a fresh context.
- The live script does not match the configured domain. OneTrust warns that a domain/script mismatch can prevent consent from being captured correctly. Check the deployed script against the intended domain in OneTrust’s publishing configuration.
- The banner was dismissed, not accepted across all categories.
Close()uses the default consent model, whileAllowAll()enables all categories, purposes, hosts, and vendors. Verify which outcome the test requires. - The page has not finished reflecting the choice. Wait for the banner to disappear and for the target page’s own consent-dependent content to settle before taking the image.
- A server-side consent profile is taking precedence. In server-side CMP integrations, the application must retain and update
otConsentString. If profile synchronization is configured, a newer server consent timestamp can take precedence over local browser/device consent.
For OneTrust server-side implementations, the application is responsible for retaining and updating otConsentString; consult the server-side CMP API guidance. OneTrust also recommends calling the Banner API on each app launch to determine whether a banner needs to be shown.
