If Browse AI says “The site blocked the preview,” its documentation says the target website is refusing automated visits. That does not necessarily mean your robot is broken or Browse AI is down. Check that you chose the right training method, refresh any expired login session, and identify whether a CAPTCHA or other site security rule is stopping access. If the site still blocks training, Browse AI recommends contacting support; its guidance also points to the Chrome extension when Table Studio and Robot Studio cannot train the site. None of these steps guarantees access to every website.
Start by identifying what failed
Read the exact message in the preview or robot run before retraining. Browse AI distinguishes a blocked preview from other problems, such as a page that did not load, an incorrect origin URL, missing data on the selected page, or an internal preview error. Its guide says the specific message “The site blocked the preview” means the site refuses automated visits. Follow that blocked-site path rather than repeatedly changing robot steps. Choose a training method that fits the page
- Data is already visible: Start with Table Studio when the fields you need are displayed on the page.
- The page needs interaction: Use Robot Studio when reaching the data requires clicks, typing, navigation, or a password login.
- Both visual training options fail on a blocked site: Browse AI’s guide says to contact support and points to the Chrome extension as another route to try. These are documented options, not a guarantee the site will allow access.

Refresh an expired login session
If the robot worked on authenticated content before but now fails, its session cookies may have expired. In the robot’s Settings, choose Update Session Cookies, refresh the login session, and run a test task. Browse AI recommends this for robots that rely on logged-in access. Handle cookie notices without breaking recorded steps
A cookie banner can interrupt a robot if its placement or appearance changes, if it appears only in some regions, or if the site shows different banner variations. If the banner does not cover the data you need, Browse AI recommends leaving it untouched while training rather than recording a click that may not work consistently. Check whether a CAPTCHA or security restriction is involved
Browse AI says it supports some standard CAPTCHA types, including reCAPTCHA and hCaptcha, but not custom CAPTCHA challenges. Its CAPTCHA guide says “Solve CAPTCHA” must be enabled by Browse AI support for the specific robot, is available only on paid plans, and works during execution—not while creating a robot in Robot Studio. Browse AI’s compatibility guidance also warns that stronger bot detection can block access, particularly on high-security sites that require login. It notes that sites may observe logins from multiple IP addresses and frequent robot tasks. Do not assume that changing IP addresses, using a proxy, or repeating attempts will solve the block; the documentation does not promise that. In a February 20, 2025 article, Browse AI claimed a success rate of over 90% for newly created custom robots. - Authenticated access stopped working: Refresh the session cookies and test the robot.
- A prebuilt robot has a problem: Browse AI recommends contacting support.
- A custom robot still fails after retraining, or needs frequent retraining: Browse AI recommends contacting support.
- The preview explicitly says the site blocked it: Contact Browse AI support; if Table Studio and Robot Studio cannot train the site, its guide also points to the Chrome extension.
Browse AI documents possible causes and workarounds, but does not promise that every blocked site can be accessed.
