If you are comparing screenshot APIs with CaptureKit, start with the workload—not the lowest advertised monthly price. Check what counts against quota, how cached and failed captures are billed, rate limits, output and capture controls, and whether you need browser automation or self-hosting. ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to try if you want clean screenshots and billing limited to clean shots; ScreenshotOne is another option with published plan limits and billing rules.

Screenshot API alternatives to consider

CaptureKit’s alternatives page names ScrapFly, Urlbox, ScreenshotOne, ScreenshotAPI, and ApiFlash. It is a useful starting list, but it is published by CaptureKit, so its prices and framing are not independent comparisons. The options below are not ranked by universal performance: the available evidence does not establish that one provider is fastest, most reliable, or most accurate for every workload.

Service What the available information supports Price information and qualification
ScreenshotNeo Website screenshot API and MCP server. Removes known cookie-consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; only clean shots are billed. Supports PNG, JPEG, WebP, and PDF, plus extensive capture controls. Free: 1,000 shots/month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots/month. See current details at ScreenshotNeo.
ScrapFly Named as an alternative on CaptureKit’s page; current provider-side feature details were not verified here. CaptureKit displays a starting price of $30/month. This is CaptureKit’s comparison figure, not an independently checked current ScrapFly price.
Urlbox Named as an alternative on CaptureKit’s page; current provider-side feature details were not verified here. CaptureKit displays a starting price of $19/month. This is CaptureKit’s comparison figure, not an independently checked current Urlbox price.
ScreenshotOne Screenshot rendering API with published quotas, rate limits, output support, and successful-render/cache billing rules. Its pricing page lists Basic at $17/month for 2,000 screenshots, Growth at $79/month for 10,000, and Scale at $259/month for 50,000. Prices exclude VAT.
ScreenshotAPI Named as an alternative on CaptureKit’s page. Confirm the exact provider and domain: do not assume it is the same company as ScreenshotAPI.net. CaptureKit displays a starting price of $9/month. This is a comparison-page figure, not an independently checked current price.
ApiFlash Named as an alternative on CaptureKit’s page; current provider-side feature details were not verified here. CaptureKit displays a starting price of $7/month. This is a comparison-page figure, not an independently checked current price.
Browserless A broader fit if screenshots are one part of a Puppeteer- or Playwright-based automation workflow, or if self-hosting is important. Its guide describes hosted and self-hosted options. Browserless’s guide reports entry pricing of $25/month billed annually for 20,000 units, with pricing checked August 6, 2026. Verify with Browserless before relying on it.

For a clean-shot workflow where failed loads, bot checks, or cache hits should not consume paid captures, ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to try: it reports a page verdict and billing status in response headers and includes an MCP server for AI clients. For published quotas and rate limits, ScreenshotOne is a useful option to evaluate. For broader browser control or deployment choices, examine Browserless. The other entries are discovery leads until you verify current features and prices with each provider.

Compare billing mechanics before headline prices

A monthly quota is not directly comparable unless you know what a provider counts as a render. Confirm whether failed navigation, CAPTCHA or bot challenges, cached responses, and retries use quota; whether overages are allowed or capped; and whether taxes are included. A lower entry price can cost more if its included quota is smaller or its overage and failure rules fit your traffic poorly.

ScreenshotOne’s published plan details

ScreenshotOne’s official pricing page lists Basic at $17/month for 2,000 screenshots and 40 requests per minute, with extra renders at $0.009 each. Growth is $79/month for 10,000 screenshots and 80 requests per minute; Scale is $259/month for 50,000 screenshots and 150 requests per minute. The page says successful screenshots that are not served from cache count toward quota, and advertises up to 100 free screenshots monthly, including HTML and PDF rendering. Prices exclude VAT. These are provider-published plan terms; confirm them on the ScreenshotOne pricing page before purchase.

Why cache and failure rules matter

Ask how cache hits are identified and whether cache behavior is configurable. ScreenshotOne says unsuccessful requests and cached results do not count, subject to its stated cache rules. ScreenshotNeo says cache hits, failed loads, blank pages, timeouts, and bot checks/CAPTCHAs cost nothing, and its response includes X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. These policies are meaningful differences, but they do not establish which service will render a particular target site successfully.

Match capture controls to the pages you render

CaptureKit’s documentation is a useful checklist of controls to compare across vendors; its listed capabilities are not proof that other providers have feature parity. Its API documents PNG, JPEG, WebP, and PDF; full-page capture; viewport and device settings; selector targeting; wait conditions; resource and URL blocking; proxy routing; cache options; and S3-compatible storage. Ask each provider which controls are available on the plan you intend to use.

  • Output: Verify image formats and PDF support, plus any PDF page-range, paper-size, margin, or orientation controls your workflow needs.
  • Page scope: Check full-page capture, lazy-loaded images, element or CSS-selector capture, and viewport or device emulation.
  • Timing: Determine whether you can wait for a selector, a fixed delay, or network idle. Dynamic pages may otherwise be captured before their useful content appears.
  • Request context: Check support for cookies, custom headers, authorization, user agents, scripts, and geolocation when pages depend on them.
  • Resource control: See whether requests, resource types, ads, or trackers can be blocked, and whether capture results can be cached or sent to your storage.
  • Protected or regional pages: Establish whether proxy or geographic routing is available and whether the service can distinguish the intended page from a challenge or bot check. Do not assume that proxy support guarantees access.

Check throughput, retries, and integration scope

Rate limits are not the same as concurrency limits. A stated requests-per-minute ceiling tells you the request rate allowed by a plan, but you should separately ask whether simultaneous jobs are capped, queued, or processed asynchronously. For batch workloads, confirm retry behavior, webhook support, and what happens when a job exceeds its wait or navigation timeout. The available provider information does not establish comparable concurrency, queue, or retry figures across all listed services.

Also decide whether you need a screenshot endpoint or a browser platform. Screenshot-only APIs can be simpler to integrate when each job is a URL-to-image or URL-to-PDF request. Browserless is worth considering when the same system must also support Puppeteer or Playwright automation, or a self-hosted deployment. ScreenshotNeo offers an MCP server with take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients; that is useful when an AI agent needs capture tools rather than only a REST call.

Estimate cost for your actual traffic

  1. Estimate monthly capture attempts, not just the number of URLs in your database. Include scheduled refreshes, user-triggered captures, and expected retries.
  2. Separate successful fresh captures from cached results and failures using each provider’s billing definitions.
  3. Compare the included quota and overage price against your expected successful uncached volume; include VAT or other applicable taxes where relevant.
  4. Check peak request rate, concurrency, and whether asynchronous jobs or bulk requests change how you can deliver the work.
  5. Recheck each provider’s current plan terms before committing. The CaptureKit figures for ScrapFly, Urlbox, ScreenshotAPI, and ApiFlash are comparison-page prices, not verified provider quotes.

For ScreenshotOne, for example, the published Basic allowance is 2,000 screenshots at $17/month with a 40-requests-per-minute limit; an additional render is listed at $0.009, and VAT is excluded. Whether that plan fits depends on how many of your requests are successful and uncached under its billing rules, not merely how many capture attempts your application makes.

How to choose for common workloads

  • Clean screenshots with explicit failed-page billing: Try ScreenshotNeo first if removing consent banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture matters. Its clean-shot billing and verdict headers make it easier to identify what happened to an individual response.
  • A plan with published volume and rate-limit tiers: Compare your needs against ScreenshotOne’s Basic, Growth, and Scale quotas and request limits, then confirm cache and success billing details.
  • Automation beyond screenshot capture: Evaluate Browserless if the workload needs Puppeteer or Playwright support or a self-hosted option as well as screenshots or PDFs.
  • A lead from CaptureKit’s alternatives list: Treat ScrapFly, Urlbox, ScreenshotAPI, and ApiFlash as candidates to verify directly. Compare their current docs and billing terms before assuming the listed starting price or capability matches your use case.
