Connect Hexowatch to Zapier by creating a Zap with Hexowatch’s change-event trigger, linking your Hexowatch account with its email and API key, and selecting the monitored URL. Then add and test the action that should happen when the monitor reports an event. If you need a webhook-based route instead, Hexowatch can send account-wide or individual-monitor change data to a Zapier Catch Hook.

Connect Hexowatch to Zapier with the native trigger

  1. Copy your API key in Hexowatch. Open Hexowatch Settings and copy the API key. Treat it as a private account credential; do not paste it into a public document or message.
  2. Create a Zap. Sign in to Zapier, start a new Zap, and search for Hexowatch as the trigger app.
  3. Choose the change trigger. The label varies across the official listings: Hexowatch calls it New Change, while Zapier’s app listing uses New Event. Select the Hexowatch trigger for a new change or event shown in your Zap editor.
  4. Connect your account. Enter the email address for your Hexowatch account and the API key you copied from Settings.
  5. Select the monitored URL. Continue the trigger setup and choose the Hexowatch monitor whose events should start this Zap.
  6. Add an action and map its fields. Select the destination app and action—for example, an email, spreadsheet row, team-chat message, document, or task—and map the Hexowatch data available in the editor to the destination fields. The fields shown can depend on the trigger data and current Zap editor.
  7. Test, then turn on the Zap. Run Zapier’s available trigger and action tests, check that the chosen monitor and mapped data are appropriate, and enable the Zap.

Hexowatch’s integration and Zapier listings describe workflows with apps including Gmail, Google Sheets, Slack, Google Docs, and ClickUp. Those are examples, not a guarantee that every account or event exposes identical fields. See Hexowatch’s Zapier integration page and Zapier’s Hexowatch app listing.

Use a Hexowatch webhook with Zapier Catch Hook

Choose this route if you want to receive change data through a webhook rather than use the native Hexowatch trigger. Hexowatch documents both an account-wide webhook for changes across monitored URLs and a webhook configured for an individual monitoring URL.

  1. Create the receiving trigger in Zapier. Start a Zap with Webhooks by Zapier and choose Catch Hook. Copy the generated webhook URL.
  2. Set the destination in Hexowatch. Configure the copied URL as an account-wide webhook in Hexowatch Settings, or attach it to the individual monitor whose events you want to receive.
  3. Send a sample event and inspect the received data. Use the fields Zapier actually receives to configure later actions. The documented setup information does not establish a universal payload schema, so do not assume a particular field name.
  4. Add downstream actions and test the Zap. Map the received fields into the destination app, test the workflow, and enable it when the result is correct.

Zapier distinguishes receiving a request with Catch Hook from sending a webhook out of a Zap. Its Help Center article updated August 10, 2026 lists the Send webhooks in Zap workflows feature for Professional, Team, and Enterprise, but not Free. That restriction concerns sending webhooks from a Zap; it does not establish a restriction on receiving with Catch Hook. Check Zapier’s current plan details because availability can change. See Zapier’s webhook-sending plan information and Zapier’s webhook setup guidance.

Route Setup and fit What to keep in mind
Native Hexowatch trigger Connect Hexowatch in Zapier with your account email and API key, then select a monitored URL. Best suited to the documented, guided app-trigger setup. The trigger label differs between Hexowatch’s page (“New Change”) and Zapier’s listing (“New Event”). No plan limitation for this native trigger was established by the cited setup sources.
Hexowatch webhook to Catch Hook Configure an account-wide or per-monitor webhook in Hexowatch and receive it with Zapier’s Catch Hook. Useful for a webhook-based design or custom event intake. The full payload schema is not specified in the cited setup information. Zapier’s documented restriction for sending webhooks from a Zap should not be treated as a Catch Hook receiving restriction.

Troubleshoot common setup problems

  • Zapier cannot connect to Hexowatch: Re-copy the API key from Hexowatch Settings and check that you entered the email for the matching account. Keep the key private.
  • You cannot find “New Change”: Search the Hexowatch trigger options for the change/event trigger. Official descriptions use both “New Change” and “New Event,” and the visible wording can differ by interface or listing.
  • The trigger test returns no useful data: Confirm that the intended monitored URL is selected, then retest the trigger. Check which fields are actually available before mapping the action.
  • A webhook-created monitor fails: Hexowatch’s API documentation notes that a webhook error can cause monitor creation to fail when a webhook is supplied through that API. This note applies to API-based monitor creation; it does not show that every webhook error breaks every existing monitor.
  • You expect immediate delivery or a fixed payload: The cited setup pages do not promise real-time delivery, an exact delivery guarantee, or a universal event-field schema. Build and test against the event data available in your account.
