Hexowatch documents monitoring password-protected and member-only pages by running browser actions—such as logging in and navigating—before capture. Create a monitor for the page, configure the actions needed to reach its authenticated content, and verify in the preview that the right page loads before relying on alerts. Compatibility with every login flow is not established, so treat that preview as essential.
What Hexowatch can do on a protected site
Hexowatch’s FAQ addresses monitoring password-protected and member-only websites. Its September 10, 2020 feature announcement describes custom browser actions before capture, including logging in and navigating to another page. That is evidence of a documented capability, not a guarantee that every site’s current sign-in flow will work.
Plan to monitor only an account and site you are authorized to access. Hexowatch’s Terms of Service put responsibility for account credential confidentiality and account activity on the account holder and prohibit unauthorized access to protected computers. Check the site’s terms and your organization’s policies as well.

Set up the monitor and validate the login
- Identify the destination. Note the exact URL of the protected page you want to check. If signing in lands elsewhere, identify the page the browser must reach afterward.
- Create a monitor for that page. Enter the URL and preview it. Hexowatch’s HTML monitoring guide documents this URL-and-preview workflow. Exact current menu labels may differ from older documentation.
- Configure the browser actions. Add the login and any navigation actions needed before capture. Hexowatch announced these custom actions for logging in to protected areas and moving between pages. Do not assume they support every multifactor authentication, CAPTCHA, single sign-on, or dynamically changing login flow; the available documentation does not establish universal compatibility.
- Check the preview before proceeding. Confirm that it displays the intended authenticated page and the content you need to watch. If it stops at the sign-in screen or shows an error, do not rely on the monitor as a check of the private content.
- Choose what to monitor. Select a monitor type that observes the change that matters; see the options below.
- Set the check frequency and notifications. Choose how often Hexowatch should check and which notification channels to use, then start the monitor. The HTML guide describes both preferences as part of setup.
- Recheck after site changes. If the target changes its login flow or page layout, preview the monitor again. Either change can prevent the configured actions from reaching or observing the expected content.
Choose the signal you want to track
Hexowatch documents several monitoring approaches. Pick based on what should trigger your attention, not just on the fact that the page is behind a login.

Troubleshoot a monitor that misses the private page
- Preview shows the sign-in page: the actions may not have completed or may not match the current login flow. Review the sequence and preview again; do not treat the monitor as authenticated until the protected content appears.
- Preview reaches the wrong page: add or correct the navigation action and verify the destination URL and page content in preview.
- The monitor stops detecting relevant changes: check whether a site update changed the login flow, page layout, or the element or text being tracked. Preview the page again and adjust the selected target or monitor type.
- The login uses MFA, CAPTCHA, SSO, or changing steps: the cited documentation does not establish compatibility with every such flow. Test the actual flow in preview; if it cannot reach the private page, do not rely on that monitor for authenticated checks.
