To run a cozy cabin-and-rain scene continuously on YouTube, create original or properly licensed visuals and audio, build them into a scene in an encoder such as OBS, and send that scene to a stream created in YouTube Live Control Room. The simplest do-it-yourself setup keeps OBS and the computer running; a cloud service can handle the looping instead. Before you start, plan for copyright checks, dropped connections, and YouTube’s archive limit: streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
Plan the cabin scene and clear its rights
Decide what viewers will see and hear before configuring the stream. A still cabin illustration, a subtly animated window, or a slow scene with firelight can all work; the essential requirement is that you have permission to use every visual and sound in both the live stream and any resulting archive.
Create or license the visual
Use artwork, footage, and animation you created, or obtain a license that explicitly covers YouTube livestreaming and archived videos. Save source files and written permissions together. A generic stock asset may be legally usable under its license but still contribute little original value to a channel’s content.
Create or license the rain audio
Use a rain recording you made or audio licensed for live and archived distribution. Keep the license, receipt, and any permission correspondence. A license does not necessarily prevent automated interruption: if a rights owner uses Content ID, they may need to allowlist your channel for the licensed material.

YouTube says livestreams are scanned for third-party content. A detected match can lead to a warning, a placeholder replacing the video, interruption, or termination if the material remains. Its livestream terms also put responsibility for necessary rights on the provider, including music licensing rights for live and archived content. See YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions and YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright.
Make the YouTube stream and encoder scene
Check channel access and create the stream
- Verify that your YouTube channel is eligible to livestream and has no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube requires a verified channel for encoder streaming.
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to open Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream and choose the stream settings there.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown by YouTube. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your stream. Do not publish it or include it in screenshots.
See YouTube’s encoder-streaming setup for the current Live Control Room flow and eligibility details. YouTube’s interface can change; use the labels displayed in your account if they differ.

Build a scene in OBS
- Install OBS from its official site. OBS states that it is free to use for any reason, including commercial use; it is GPLv2 software. See the OBS Help portal.
- In OBS, create a scene such as Cabin Rain. Add an Image or Media Source for the cabin visual. For a looping video source, enable its loop option; for a still image, set the canvas to the image’s intended aspect ratio and add only motion or overlays you actually want viewers to see.
- Add the rain file as a Media Source and enable looping if the sound bed is shorter than the stream session. Listen through the point where the file restarts: an abrupt seam, silence, or volume jump is noticeable during a long ambience stream.
- Set OBS output resolution and frame rate to match the visual you prepared. A static scene does not need unnecessary motion or a high frame rate; choose settings your computer and connection can sustain. YouTube’s current encoder recommendations are listed in its live encoder settings.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the stream key supplied by Live Control Room (or connect the account if that option is available). Avoid sharing the key.
- Return to Live Control Room and check the incoming preview. Confirm that the cabin image is framed correctly, the rain is audible without clipping, and any title or overlay is readable. Start streaming in OBS, then confirm the stream is live in YouTube Studio.
OBS is a practical encoder, not a promise of uninterrupted operation. The official pages cited here do not prescribe a particular computer model or guarantee uptime, so test the intended scene and settings on the actual system and connection before relying on them for continuous operation.
Test continuity, audio, and recovery
Before leaving the stream unattended, run a private or unlisted stability check. This is a practical production step, not a YouTube-mandated test duration. Watch the outgoing preview and listen on another device so you catch problems that may not be obvious from the OBS meters alone.

- Custom three-capsule array: This professional USB mic produces clear, powerful, broadcast-quality sound for YouTube videos, Twitch game streaming, podcasting, Zoom meetings, music recording and more
- Blue VO!CE software: Elevate your streamings and recordings with clear broadcast vocal sound and entertain your audience with enhanced effects, advanced modulation and HD audio samples
- Four pickup patterns: Flexible cardioid, omni, bidirectional, and stereo pickup patterns allow you to record in ways that would normally require multiple mics, for vocals, instruments and podcasts
- Onboard audio controls: Headphone volume, pattern selection, instant mute, and mic gain put you in charge of every level of the audio recording and streaming process
- Positionable design: Pivot the mic in relation to the sound source to optimize your sound quality thanks to the adjustable desktop stand and track your voice in real time with no-latency monitoring
- Check that the cabin visual does not crop unexpectedly and that any animation loops cleanly.
- Listen for a loop seam, sudden loudness changes, clipping, or audio that stops when the visual continues.
- Confirm that YouTube receives the intended scene and audio, not a desktop capture, muted source, or blank frame.
- Decide how you will notice a dropped connection and restart the encoder. A computer sleep, power loss, network interruption, or OBS crash can end a do-it-yourself stream.
Choose a stream schedule with YouTube’s archive limit in mind
A live channel and a complete archive are different goals. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving the entire session matters, do not assume that one continuous 24/7 broadcast will produce a complete video. See YouTube’s live stream archive guidance.
Use a local recording if you need a backup of the footage. OBS can record while streaming, but recording adds storage and system demands; check that the chosen computer can sustain both tasks. An external drive is optional storage, not a YouTube requirement. Alternatively, plan separate stream sessions around the archive limit, understanding that this means the broadcast will not be one uninterrupted 24/7 session.

Understand monetization separately from copyright
Having permission to use a sound or image does not guarantee YouTube Partner Program eligibility. Conversely, a channel may be rejected for monetization even when it owns or licenses all of its assets. YouTube’s policy applies to livestreams and expects original, authentic content; repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible. On July 15, 2025, YouTube clarified this under the name “inauthentic content,” retaining the rule against repetitive or mass-produced material. Review is channel-wide, not just a decision about one stream. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Make your creative contribution clear: use a scene and sound design you made or meaningfully shaped, avoid interchangeable copied loops, and describe the work accurately in the stream and channel presentation. No policy source guarantees that a cabin-and-rain loop will qualify for monetization.

Troubleshoot common problems
- YouTube does not receive video: Check that OBS is streaming to the correct YouTube service and that the stream key matches the active stream in Live Control Room. If the key was exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- The preview is black or the cabin is cropped: Check that the intended scene is selected, the image or media source is visible, and the source fits the canvas. Confirm the preview again before going live.
- Rain audio is missing: Check the source’s media path, source volume, mute state, and OBS audio meters. Play the scene through its loop point to ensure the source restarts as intended.
- YouTube warns about third-party content or interrupts the stream: Identify the matched material. Remove it or obtain the appropriate rights; if you already have a license, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be allowlisted in Content ID.
- The stream stops while unattended: Check for computer sleep, power or internet loss, and encoder failure. For a local setup, prevent sleep and arrange a way to detect and restart a failed session; test recovery rather than assuming it works.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: A session that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured. Keep a local recording when preservation matters and schedule sessions with the archive limitation in mind.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube stream made from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is the first cloud option to consider: it keeps the stream running from the cloud at any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and the first day is free with no card. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
- Upload your cabin-and-rain recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the video from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
Each slot includes 10 GB of storage, pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. The same features apply on every plan; only the billing period changes. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Automatic recovery does not remove the need to use content you have rights to or guarantee a complete YouTube archive.
StreamNeo is for YouTube only. See StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
