Set locale separately to en-IN if you also want India-specific language and formatting conventions. These browser settings do not automatically change the timezone used by your Node.js test runner.
Set the browser timezone to India with Playwright
Install Playwright and use a browser context configured for India before creating the page. This runnable example captures the visible viewport:

})();Replace https://example.com with the page you need. Playwright documents context-level locale and timezone emulation at its emulation guide; Asia/Kolkata is the India timezone value to use here.
Timezone and locale are separate settings
timezoneId: 'Asia/Kolkata' changes the browser context’s timezone behavior, affecting page code that reads local time and date. locale: 'en-IN' is a separate choice that affects language-related behavior such as navigator.language, the Accept-Language request header, and locale-sensitive formatting. Omit or change the locale if you want India time but a different language or formatting locale.

Choose what to capture
Playwright supports screenshots of the visible viewport, the full scrollable page, and an individual element. Choose the scope that matches the page behavior you need to inspect.
Visible viewport
The example above captures the current viewport. Set a consistent viewport size when comparing results, since responsive page layout can change with screen dimensions.
Full scrollable page
Use fullPage: true to capture the page as one tall image:

Keep the test runner timezone distinct
Playwright’s timezoneId applies to the browser context; it does not set the timezone for date calculations performed by the Node.js test runner. If the test code itself must run in a particular timezone, Playwright documents using the TZ environment variable for the runner. Configure that separately from the browser context, and verify the page behavior you intend to capture.

Use Chrome DevTools for interactive inspection
For manual testing, Chrome DevTools offers location settings that include a timezone ID, locale, and latitude/longitude. The Chrome DevTools Protocol also exposes Emulation.setTimezoneOverride to override the host timezone for a page. See the Chrome DevTools locations guide and the Emulation protocol reference. These are alternatives for interactive inspection; Playwright contexts are more straightforward to configure in a repeatable script.
Make screenshot comparisons repeatable
Use the same browser environment, viewport, capture scope, and settings when comparing screenshots. Visual output can vary with the host operating system, browser version, browser settings, hardware, power source, and headless mode. Playwright discusses these factors in its visual comparisons guide.

Troubleshooting timezone screenshots
The page still shows the wrong time
Set timezoneId on the context before creating the page and navigating. Confirm the page is reading browser-local time rather than a time supplied by its server or fixed in the page data.

Dates change, but their format does not
Timezone emulation and locale are independent. Set locale: 'en-IN' if the page uses locale-sensitive formatting and you want India conventions as well as India time.
The screenshot differs between machines
Check that browser version, operating system, viewport, settings, and headless mode match the baseline. Playwright notes that each can affect visual output.
The screenshot misses content
A regular screenshot captures the viewport. Set fullPage: true for the scrollable page, or take a locator screenshot for a specific element.
