Yes, viewer location can affect the advertising market and the CPM associated with a YouTube livestream. YouTube says competition differs by geography and advertisers choose which locations to target. But there is no fixed, official India-specific livestream rate: a view may not show an ad, and YouTube says live ad slots are not guaranteed to serve.
Why viewer location can affect livestream ad revenue
Advertisers select the geographies they want to reach, and competition for advertising varies across locations. As a result, ad impressions associated with viewers in India may have a different market price from impressions associated with viewers elsewhere. YouTube describes this as geographic variation in CPM; it does not publish a guaranteed India-versus-another-country rate.

India is included in YouTube’s list of monetized markets. That means advertisers can target campaigns there, not that every Indian viewer will receive an ad or that each such ad has a set value.
Why views do not translate directly into ad earnings
A view is a video playback. An ad impression is an individual ad displayed, while an estimated monetized playback is a playback in which at least one ad appeared. Some views have no ad, and a single playback can include more than one ad. On livestreams, YouTube may show pre-roll, display, or mid-roll ads, but it decides whether ads serve in available slots.

So a stream’s revenue depends on more than the countries represented in its audience. Ad delivery, the number of monetized playbacks relative to views, and the ad formats served all matter. Geographic CPM differences alone cannot predict what a particular stream will earn.
CPM and RPM measure different things
- CPM is the advertiser’s cost per 1,000 ad impressions, before YouTube’s revenue share.
- Playback-based CPM is the advertiser’s cost per 1,000 video playbacks where at least one ad was displayed.
- RPM is creator revenue per 1,000 views after YouTube’s revenue share. It includes views without ads and can combine ads with revenue from YouTube Premium, memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers.
That is why multiplying a CPM figure by all livestream views will not give a creator’s actual earnings. RPM is closer to a creator-side revenue-per-view measure, but it can include revenue sources beyond ads.

YouTube’s revenue shares are not India-specific rates
YouTube’s current partner-earnings guidance, accessed in 2026, states that creators who accept the Watch Page Monetization Module receive 55% of net ad revenue for eligible Watch Page ads, including on livestreams. This is a revenue-share term, not a promised CPM or payout per Indian view.
The separate 70% of net revenues share stated for channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks applies under the Commerce Product Module. Those fan-funding features are not livestream ad CPM.

How to find what your own livestreams earned
For a channel-specific answer, use YouTube Analytics rather than a general country estimate. YouTube’s livestream guidance says creators can inspect live and replay ad revenue there. Compare streams or periods with similar formats and audience mixes, and consider CPM, playback-based CPM, RPM, views, and monetized playbacks together. Analytics reflects your channel and selected period; general platform guidance cannot forecast a particular stream’s results.

| Question | What YouTube’s guidance establishes |
|---|---|
| Can viewer geography affect ad pricing? | Yes. YouTube says CPM can vary because ad-market competition differs by location. |
| Can advertisers target India? | Yes. India is listed as a monetized market. |
| Is there an official fixed India livestream CPM, RPM, ad-fill rate, or payout per view? | No such fixed country-specific figure is published in the cited YouTube guidance. |
| Does every Indian livestream view show an ad? | No. Views can be unmonetized, and live ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. |
Accordingly, claims that YouTube always pays a particular amount per 1,000 Indian livestream views—or that Indian views earn a guaranteed percentage less than views from another country—go beyond the official guidance. The relevant figure for a creator is the result shown in that channel’s Analytics for the streams and period in question.

Keeping a YouTube stream online is a separate question
Ad rates do not depend on which service keeps a stream running. If your separate goal is to loop uploaded videos on YouTube without leaving a computer on, StreamNeo is a cloud service for that use: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It does not determine or guarantee ad revenue. You can try StreamNeo’s first day free with no card.
