For a Puppeteer screenshot that uses web fonts instead of fallback fonts, wait for the page’s font-loading promise before calling page.screenshot(): await page.evaluate(() => document.fonts.ready). Puppeteer’s waitForFonts option belongs to Page.pdf(), not screenshot options.
Capture a screenshot after web fonts are ready
Navigate to the page, wait for any content your application loads asynchronously, then wait for document.fonts.ready and take the screenshot. This example uses Puppeteer 25.12.0-era APIs; check the reference for the version installed in your project.

Put application-specific waits before it if the page injects content or begins using fonts later. If your app changes content or font usage after the first wait, wait for font readiness again before capturing.
Why navigation idle is not enough
waitUntil: 'networkidle2' is a navigation condition used in Puppeteer’s screenshot guide, not a font-readiness setting. It does not explicitly assert that the fonts your screenshot needs have finished loading. The separate document.fonts.ready wait makes that requirement explicit.

Choose the right capture scope
Use page.screenshot() for a page image. Set fullPage: true to capture the full page, or use options such as clip, type, and path to control the captured area, output format, and destination. The current ScreenshotOptions reference does not list a built-in waitForFonts flag.
For an individual element, use its element handle’s screenshot method; Puppeteer documents that it tries to scroll a hidden element into view. If the element’s fonts load only after it becomes visible, make it visible first, then wait for document.fonts.ready before taking the element screenshot.

Puppeteer’s PDF guide says PDF generation waits for fonts by default. That PDF behavior does not automatically apply to screenshots. The PDFOptions reference also notes that a background page may need Page.bringToFront() for the font wait; this is specific to PDF behavior.
Troubleshoot missing or fallback fonts
- The screenshot still shows a fallback font: Confirm the page has reached the point where it uses the web font, then await
document.fonts.readyimmediately before capture. If application code changes the page afterward, repeat the readiness wait. - The page never reaches network idle: If ongoing requests prevent the selected navigation condition from completing, choose an appropriate navigation condition for the site and use a page-specific readiness check. Keep the font promise as a separate wait.
- The font request fails: Inspect the page’s network and console errors, and verify the font URL, access permissions, and server response. A readiness promise settling does not itself prove that a particular intended font loaded successfully; check the rendered result or the font-loading state when diagnosing a failed font.
waitForFontsis rejected as an unknown screenshot option: Remove it frompage.screenshot(). It is a PDF option; usepage.evaluate(() => document.fonts.ready)for screenshots.
