OBS network-dropped frames mean the computer is struggling to deliver the stream reliably to YouTube’s ingest server, or the configured bitrate is higher than the connection can sustain. That counter alone does not prove Airtel is at fault. Start by checking OBS statistics, testing over Ethernet with other uploads paused, and matching OBS settings to stable upload capacity.
First, confirm what kind of frames are being dropped
During a private or unlisted test stream, open OBS’s View → Stats window. Record the network-dropped-frame count, bitrate behavior, and the time any drops occur. Network drops concern delivery from your computer to YouTube. They are different from rendering lag or encoding lag, which point to separate workload or encoder issues.
OBS describes network-dropped frames as a sign of an unstable connection to the remote server or an inability to keep up with the configured bitrate. The OBS Project says, “It is extremely unlikely for OBS Studio to cause dropped frames.” OBS Stream Connection Troubleshooting. The counter is not, by itself, evidence of an Airtel outage.
Work through the connection checks first
1. Replace Wi-Fi with a wired test
If the streaming computer is on Wi-Fi, connect it directly to the router with Ethernet and repeat the same test. OBS recommends a wired connection because Wi-Fi can be unstable for streaming. The point is to isolate wireless reliability, not to assume a particular cable grade or buy a new router.

- 40 Gbps 2000 Mhz High Speed: The Cat 8 ethernet cable support max. 40 Gbps data transfer and 2000 MHz Brandwith, ideal for gaming and streaming, greatly improving upload and download speed, sound, image and resolution quality
- Excellent Anti-interference: The ethernet cable comes with 4 shielded foiled twisted pairs (F/FTP), pure copper core and gold-plated RJ45 connector, reducing interference, noise and crosstalk, making network speed faster and more stable
- Marvelous Durability: Internet cable wrapped with quality cotton braided cord, which makes the LAN cable stronger and more durable. The test proves that this internet cable can be bent at least 10000 times without broken, very suitable for long-term use
- PoE Supported: All lengths of ethernet cord can support the PoE power supply function except 65ft. You don't need additional power supply when installing a PoE camera, which is very convenient and safe
- Wide Compatibility: With the RJ45 Connector, network cable can be perfectly compatible with computers, laptops, modems, routers, PS5, X-Box and other networking devices. It can also be fully backward compatible with Cat7, Cat6e, Cat6, Cat5e, Cat5
2. Pause competing uploads and sync jobs
Pause cloud backups, file uploads, and other heavy outbound traffic during the test. YouTube notes that a shared connection can leave less bandwidth available to the stream. Keep the test conditions consistent so that a change in OBS settings or connection path can be compared fairly.
3. Measure sustained upload headroom
Check upload capacity, not just download speed. A short speed test is only a snapshot; it does not show whether the connection can hold the required rate throughout a continuous loop. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom and says total bitrate cannot exceed available upload bandwidth. If you send primary and backup feeds, account for both. Its guidance says, “Leave a bit of room (20% recommended).” YouTube streaming tips.

If upload capacity fluctuates or does not leave enough room, lower the video bitrate and test again. If drops continue, reduce resolution or frame rate as needed. YouTube advises considering a lower resolution when the selected bitrate cannot be sustained.
Match OBS to YouTube’s ingest requirements
Use YouTube’s live encoder recommendations as a starting point, then choose a bitrate your connection can reliably sustain. These platform recommendations do not guarantee that a particular Airtel connection can carry them. See YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for the current recommendations. Test with movement and audio resembling the actual loop, not just a static scene. Watch YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health and note any displayed error message alongside OBS statistics.
Test the ingest route and OBS network options
If a wired test with adequate headroom still drops frames, determine whether the issue follows one ingest endpoint or affects all routes. Change one setting at a time and repeat under the same conditions.

- On Windows, test Network Optimizations and TCP pacing. Find these under Settings → Advanced → Network in OBS.
- Leave Bind to IP at Default. Test IPv4 Only only as a diagnostic; if it does not help, return to the default IPv4 and IPv6 behavior.
- Consider Dynamic Bitrate as a workaround. It may lower bitrate during congestion and reduce drops, but does not fix the underlying cause and can reduce video quality.

- 🔌【Incredible Durable】 Double braided nylon exterior make Cat8 Ethernet Cable more durable, flexible and tangle-free. And this sturdy cat 8 patch cord can be bended at least 10 thousands times, so that you can reuse it without any concerns.
- Temporarily test without a VPN or suspected network-prioritization software.
- If a security product is identified as the cause, configure an OBS exception and re-enable protection rather than leaving security disabled.
- Use network drivers supplied by your computer or motherboard manufacturer.
- Where practical, test a direct wired path that bypasses a switch, extender, or other intermediate device.
- Replace a router, modem, or cable only if isolation testing identifies it as the failing component.
When and how to contact Airtel
If drops persist on Ethernet, with competing uploads paused and a bitrate within observed upload capacity, preserve the OBS log and contact Airtel support. Ask them to investigate the line and route at the affected times. Include the information that makes the problem reproducible:
- the time and duration of each drop;
- whether the computer was wired or on Wi-Fi;
- the selected YouTube ingest endpoint and OBS network options;
- the bitrate, resolution, and observed upload behavior;
- whether another endpoint or network changed the result; and
- the OBS log and any YouTube Live Control Room stream-health error.
OBS’s troubleshooting guide recommends contacting the ISP after earlier checks. There is no established Airtel-specific OBS setting, verified Airtel-wide fault, or guaranteed provider-side fix for this symptom. Airtel conditions can vary by location and time, so use the test evidence rather than attributing the drops to the provider from the title or counter alone. YouTube’s stream-health guidance is at YouTube streaming error messages.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep a prerecorded YouTube loop live without leaving OBS and a computer running at home, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
