To create separate YouTube live events for an always-on video playlist, schedule each event separately in YouTube Studio, then send the chosen video feed to that event when it is due. YouTube’s documented workflow does not automatically turn a looping playlist into separate event pages.

What separate events mean for an always-on playlist

A scheduled live event is an individual item in YouTube Live Control Room, with its own event details and watch page. A playlist or continuous video feed is the content source; it does not, by itself, create a sequence of separately scheduled events. Plan these as two tasks: create each event in Studio, then connect your streaming setup to the event at its scheduled time. YouTube’s encoder guidance explains how to schedule and manage individual streams.

Scheduling lets you share an event URL in advance so viewers can visit the page and set reminders. If you want a distinct event page for each session, create a distinct scheduled stream for each one rather than assuming each playlist item will receive its own page.

Check eligibility before scheduling

YouTube lists mobile, webcam, encoder, and console as streaming methods. For scheduled events that will receive a feed from a playlist, the relevant setup is usually an encoder-based workflow, but buying or using special equipment is not required just to schedule an event. An encoder may be software or standalone hardware; YouTube describes encoders as useful for external audio/video gear and more advanced productions. A webcam is a simpler option for camera-based streams. Review YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and methods before planning a broadcast.

  • First-time live-streaming enablement can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder guidance. Enable it well ahead of your first event.
  • Choose a streaming method that can provide the content you intend to show. Scheduling an event does not itself play or loop playlist videos.

Schedule each event in YouTube Studio

  1. Open YouTube Studio and select Create > Go Live to enter Live Control Room.
  2. Select Manage > Schedule Stream.
  3. Choose Create new for a distinct event, or Reuse settings to carry forward configuration from a prior stream.
  4. Review the event’s title, description, visibility, scheduled time, and other details. Reusing settings copies configuration; it does not create an automatic playlist-to-events workflow.
  5. Save the event. Share its event URL if you want viewers to find the page in advance and set a reminder.

YouTube’s scheduled-stream instructions cover creating and managing the event. For a series, repeat these steps for every event that needs its own page, timing, or viewer reminder.

Connect the video feed when the event is due

For an encoder workflow, each scheduled event needs a feed sent to its YouTube stream. You can use a streaming setup that plays the intended video or playlist; the YouTube event scheduler does not generate that feed.

  1. In the event’s Live Control Room details, copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key into the corresponding server and key fields of your encoder.
  2. Treat the stream key as a credential. It authorizes an encoder to send a feed to your YouTube channel, so do not share it publicly.
  3. At the scheduled time, start the encoder and wait for the incoming video preview in Live Control Room.
  4. Check the preview, then select Go live for that scheduled event. Starting an encoder feed and making the event live are distinct actions in this workflow.
  5. When the event is over, end it in YouTube and stop the encoder as appropriate.

Use the event-specific details shown in Studio, especially when you have created several events or reused prior settings. Do not assume that a key, title, visibility choice, or time copied from another event is correct for the next one.

Prepare and monitor the event

YouTube recommends setting up at least two hours before an encoder event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. That lead time gives you a chance to catch setup problems before viewers arrive. YouTube’s live-streaming tips cover preparation and monitoring.

  • Start the encoder early, then confirm that Live Control Room shows the expected preview before selecting Go live.
  • Check that the event is accessible from the channel and watch pages, and on mobile.
  • Monitor audio and video quality during the stream.
  • If your production relies on failover, test the backup encoder behavior ahead of time rather than waiting for a live failure.

Plan event length and archives

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That rule matters for long-running programming: do not treat one event as an indefinitely running stream while also relying on the standard automatic archive. For longer programming, schedule distinct sessions and confirm YouTube’s current behavior for the duration you intend to run. YouTube’s encoder guidance states the under-12-hour archive rule.

Common problems and fixes

  • No event page for each playlist item: A playlist does not automatically create separate scheduled events. Create each event in Manage > Schedule Stream and share its page separately.
  • The event is scheduled, but no video appears: Scheduling creates the event, not the video feed. Start the encoder and check that the event’s stream URL and key are entered in the correct fields.
  • The preview appears, but the event is not live: Once the encoder preview is visible, select Go live in Live Control Room for that scheduled event.
  • The feed goes to the wrong event or channel: Verify the event-specific stream details in Studio and replace any stale URL or key in the encoder.
  • First-time streaming is unavailable: Check channel verification and recent live-stream restrictions; first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours.
  • A long event is not archived as expected: YouTube’s cited guidance guarantees automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not for an indefinitely long event. Use distinct sessions and check current platform behavior for your planned duration.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is to keep uploaded videos looping on YouTube between separately scheduled events—or to keep an always-on channel running—StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the cloud keeps the feed running without leaving a computer or home connection on. Your scheduled event pages still need to be created separately in YouTube Studio.
