You can track a Target product’s displayed price by saving dated screenshots of the same product page and logging the price and shopping context for each capture. This creates a personal history—not proof for a price match. Target says screenshots and pictures cannot be accepted as price-match proof; for an online price, show the current price on your mobile device so a team member can verify it. Check Target’s current Price Match Guarantee before making a request.
What screenshots can—and cannot—tell you
A screenshot is a dated record of what appeared on your screen at capture time. Used consistently, screenshots can help you compare a product’s displayed prices and visible offers over time. They do not establish that a lower price is still available, or that an item qualifies for a match.
Target’s policy says a qualifying price match may be requested at purchase or within 14 days, subject to its terms. The item must be identical and the price must be valid when the match is requested. Target may verify the price and availability and can decline a request if it cannot verify the lower price. Exclusions and location constraints apply, so check the current policy for the offer you have in mind.
For online verification, Target instructs shoppers to show the online price on a mobile device for a team member to verify. Its policy states: “Screenshots or pictures cannot be accepted.” That restriction concerns price-match proof; it does not prevent you from saving screenshots for your own records.

How to build a useful screenshot price history
- Open the exact product page. Confirm the product and selected variant. Save the page URL and note visible identifiers such as brand, size, color, count, or model number. Small differences can mean you are looking at a different item.
- Set and record the shopping context. Note the selected store or whether the page is showing shipping or pickup. Record visible sale, Target Circle, or other offer labels, along with stock status if relevant. Target says prices, promotions, styles, and availability may vary between store and online.
- Capture the relevant page area. Include enough of the page to show the product identity, displayed price, and any offer terms you are comparing. If an offer’s conditions appear farther down the page, capture those too. Keep the original image rather than editing out labels or replacing an earlier capture.
- Record when you took it. Add the date, time, and time zone to the filename or a log. A screenshot alone may not make the capture time or shopping context clear.
- Repeat consistently. Capture at regular intervals that suit your needs, or when checking an alert. Save a separate file for each observation; do not overwrite the previous image.
- Compare like with like. Compare captures for the same item, variant, and store or fulfillment context. Note changes in promotions and availability rather than treating every displayed price as directly comparable.
A simple log to keep beside the images
A spreadsheet or text file can make a set of screenshots much easier to interpret. These are practical record-keeping suggestions, not Target requirements:
- Product name and page URL
- Brand, model, or selected variant (such as size, color, or count)
- Capture date, time, and time zone
- Displayed price and visible sale or Circle offer wording
- Selected store or shipping/pickup context
- Screenshot filename
- Stock status, sign-in state, or other notes that could affect what the page showed
Can I see a Target product’s price history?
Your own screenshot folder and log can show what you observed at different times. Keep in mind that this is a record of page observations, not a guarantee that Target’s current price, stock, or promotion will match an earlier capture.

One automated option is PriceDropCatch. The service’s product page says its browser extension and iPhone app support Target tracking, price history, and alerts. Its FAQ says the default Target check interval is every 30 minutes while Chrome is open; the Chrome Web Store listing describes its extension features. These are vendor statements, not independently verified monitoring results. The stated interval does not mean checks continue when Chrome is closed, and an alert or stored price is not price-match proof.
PriceDropCatch says tracked extension data is stored locally in the browser. That is the vendor’s statement about the extension; it should not be read as a broader, independently verified privacy guarantee.

How often should I check a Target product page?
For manual tracking, choose an interval you can repeat and record it consistently. A daily capture may suit a shopper watching a short-term sale; a less frequent schedule may be enough for a longer-term comparison. The useful interval depends on how quickly the price or offer changes, and a saved capture cannot show a change that happened between observations.
If you use PriceDropCatch, its vendor-stated default is a check every 30 minutes while Chrome is open. That describes the vendor’s stated setting, not a guarantee that every change will be detected or that monitoring runs continuously.

Troubleshooting your price records
The screenshots show different prices, but I am not sure why
Check whether the selected store, shipping or pickup option, item variant, stock status, or visible promotion changed. Target notes that store and online prices and promotions can vary. Record those details with each capture rather than assuming the price difference is a simple change to the same offer.
The screenshot does not show the price or the offer terms
Capture a larger relevant area, or take additional captures for separate sections of the page. Keep the product identity and price visible together where possible, and preserve offer wording or conditions that affect the comparison.
I have an alert or an old screenshot and want a price match
Do not rely on either as proof. Target requires a price valid at the time of the request and says screenshots or pictures cannot be accepted. Open the current online listing on your mobile device and let a team member verify it, following Target’s current policy.
