To capture an Etsy product page for listing research, open the listing in a desktop browser and use your computer’s screenshot tool for the visible page. For details below the fold, use a browser full-page capture if available or save several labeled screenshots in order. Keep the exact listing URL and capture date with each image so the record can be identified later.
Capture an Etsy listing on Windows or Mac
- Open the specific listing. Wait for the product images and the details you need to appear. If you are comparing listings, use the same browser window size and capture comparable sections for each one.
- Choose the area to save. Capture the browser window for a broad record, or select a region to focus on the price, shipping, options, seller, or another detail. Avoid including unrelated tabs or personal information.
- Save the image with a useful name. Include a short item description and the date, such as
linen-tote-2026-10-03.png. Record the exact listing URL in a companion note. - Keep an original copy. If you need to highlight or annotate details, work on a duplicate so the unaltered capture remains available.
Windows
Microsoft’s Snipping Tool supports region, window, and full-screen captures. Open Snipping Tool, choose the snip mode that fits the record you need, then capture and save the result. See Microsoft’s Snipping Tool instructions for current controls and steps.
Mac
macOS provides keyboard shortcuts and the Screenshot app for capturing the screen. Choose a selected area or window when you want a focused record. Apple documents the available methods in Take a screenshot on Mac.
Save a full-page Etsy screenshot
A regular desktop screenshot records only what is currently visible. If the listing’s description or other relevant information continues below the fold, use a full-page capture feature offered by your browser, if available. Browser features differ, so check the current controls for the browser and version you use.

If full-page capture is unavailable or the result is hard to read, capture the relevant sections separately. Save them in page order and number the files, for example linen-tote-01.png, linen-tote-02.png. Keep the URL and date in the same companion note rather than relying on an image’s filename alone.

Use the same fields for each listing, and distinguish what the screenshot visibly shows from your own assessment. A simple comparison note can include:

A screenshot records what appeared at a particular time; it does not establish that a price, option, or description is still current. Etsy describes its shops as independently operated and sellers as responsible for their inventory and shipping, so retain the seller context when comparing listings. Keep screenshots within Etsy’s rules and respect image rights
Manual screenshots for private reference are different from automated collection. Etsy’s Terms of Use prohibit crawling, scraping, or spidering its services without express permission. Do not turn a manual research workflow into automated page collection unless you have the required permission.

Keeping a screenshot does not give you permission to republish a seller’s listing photos. Etsy’s Listing Image Requirements set rules for photos sellers use in their listings; they do not grant other users a license to reuse those images. Etsy’s Terms of Use say user-posted content remains the user’s content, and its Intellectual Property Policy places responsibility for rights in posted content on sellers. Keep research captures private and seek permission before public reuse. A screenshot is not proof that an image is free to copy.

Troubleshoot common capture problems
- Part of the listing is missing: A standard screen capture covers only the visible area. Use a browser full-page capture if available, or save and number separate relevant sections.
- Images or details have not appeared: Wait for the page content to load before capturing. If it remains incomplete, record what is missing in your notes rather than treating the screenshot as a complete listing.
- The image is cluttered: Retake it using a selected region or browser window instead of the whole screen.
- You cannot identify the listing later: Add the exact listing URL and capture date to a companion note, and use a filename that identifies the item and capture order.
- Annotations obscure the original: Keep an untouched original and annotate a duplicate.
- A price or option no longer matches: Treat the image as a dated record, revisit the listing, and note any change rather than silently updating the old capture.
- An automated capture is blocked or incomplete: Do not interpret a failed or blocked result as proof of what the listing contains. Use a manual capture for private research where appropriate, and observe Etsy’s restrictions on automated collection.
