Capture the same offer under each ZIP code
- Choose what you are comparing. Distinguish two online product-page views with different ZIP codes from an online price compared with an in-store price. Walmart says store prices can vary and that website prices and merchandise do not necessarily reflect what is available in stores (Walmart’s pricing FAQ). The URL supplied for that source is not available in the provided materials, so no link is included.
- Set the location context. Use the ZIP-code or store selector currently shown in your Walmart account or session. The exact controls may change; do not assume a particular button path. Once the location is set, open the product page.
- Check that the offer is comparable. Confirm the product name and size, model, or other variant, along with the seller and fulfillment details where shown. Keep these details and the displayed price in the capture if possible.
- Capture the page once per location. Repeat for the other ZIP code or selected store without changing the product variant. Take the captures close together in time if you are comparing them.
- Label each image. Note the selected ZIP code or store and the capture time in a filename or separate note. State whether the image shows a website offer, an app scanner result, or an in-store price.
- Describe only what the images establish. For example: “At the time captured, the product page showed [price] for with [ZIP code] selected.” Avoid claiming the screenshot proves personalized pricing or a checkout price.
Take the screenshot on iPhone or Windows
iPhone and Safari
Use the iPhone’s normal screenshot controls. In Safari, when the page extends beyond the visible screen, choose the full-page capture option if you need more product details in the image. Apple documents this option for longer content (Apple’s screenshot instructions). Make sure the captured area includes the price and enough information to identify the selected product and offer.
Windows
Use Snipping Tool to capture the relevant part of the browser page. Microsoft also documents saving a browser capture as HTML with the page URL included beneath the snip, which can be useful when the link needs to accompany the image (Microsoft’s Snipping Tool instructions).
Walmart app price checks
Walmart says its app scanner can check item prices and offers, and its store-map page describes checking an item’s price for a selected store (Walmart store map). These app features are useful context, but a scanner result is not proof that the shelf label or checkout amount is identical. Label app results separately from website product-page captures.

How to compare the captures fairly
Put the images side by side and check the context before interpreting a difference. Walmart says store prices can vary because each store manages its inventory; its examples include overstock clearance, in-store sales, and competition with local merchants. It also says its website’s prices and merchandise do not necessarily match those in stores (Walmart’s pricing FAQ). The specific reason a particular product’s online price changes with a ZIP code cannot be determined from the screenshots alone.
- Same product, size, model, and variant
- Same seller and fulfillment type, where those details appear
- Selected ZIP code or store for each image
- Capture time for each image
- Whether the view is an online offer, store price, or app scanner result
Walmart’s current pricing explanation says prices are not based on a person’s browsing history, purchase history, device information, location, or shopping behavior. It attributes pricing decisions to business considerations including costs, competition, inventory levels, geography, and seasonality; that is Walmart’s stated explanation, not independent verification (John Furner’s September 25, 2026 letter; Walmart’s pricing explanation). Furner wrote, “We price the product, not the person.”

What the screenshot can and cannot prove
A screenshot can document the visible price, product details, and selected location at the time of capture. It cannot by itself establish the cause of a difference, confirm later availability, or guarantee what the register will charge. Walmart’s published price-matching exclusions include online prices, Marketplace or third-party seller offers, and store prices, so do not treat an online offer as a guaranteed match for an in-store offer (Walmart’s price-match policy).
If the issue is a mismatch between a store shelf label and the checkout price, keep the item and store details and contact local store management. Walmart’s FAQ directs price-policy questions to the local store (Walmart’s pricing FAQ).
