To keep a product installation video repeating in a YouTube Live broadcast, send the video through a streaming encoder and enable looping in the source. In OBS Studio, add the video as a Media Source, turn on Loop, then connect OBS to a YouTube encoder stream using the stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s player Loop control is different: it repeats playback only for an individual viewer and does not create a live broadcast.
Choose between a repeating video and a live broadcast

For a single installation walkthrough, OBS Studio is a software option; a hardware encoder is not required. YouTube identifies hardware encoders as an option for higher-production streams, not a prerequisite for this workflow. YouTube’s encoder overview
Check YouTube channel eligibility first
YouTube’s current live-streaming help says the channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; the creator must also be at least 16. Check the channel’s eligibility before preparing the broadcast, since an ineligible channel cannot use this setup. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements for current rules.
Set up the repeating broadcast with OBS
- Create or schedule the stream in YouTube Studio. Open the Live Control Room and choose encoder-based streaming. Copy the stream URL and stream key from the stream settings. The key lets the encoder send the feed to YouTube, so treat it like a password: do not publish it or share it with customers. Follow YouTube’s encoder instructions.
- Open OBS and add the installation video. In the Sources area, select + → Media Source, create or choose a source, and browse to the local video file. In the source properties, enable Loop. OBS documents this option as replaying the file after playback completes. See OBS Media Sources.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS stream settings, use YouTube as the service and enter the stream key, or configure the stream URL and key as prompted by the encoder workflow. Keep the key private. The exact interface can vary by OBS version; use the encoder setup instructions in YouTube Studio if labels differ.
- Preview before starting the broadcast. Start the encoder connection and wait for the preview in Live Control Room. Check that the video is framed correctly, the complete installation sequence plays, and audio is audible and synchronized. Then start the live event in YouTube Studio if the control room requires a separate go-live action. Verify the public watch page and test it on a phone as well as a computer. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend testing and monitoring the setup.
- Keep the source and stream monitored. OBS must continue sending the feed for this do-it-yourself setup to remain live. Watch the stream’s audio and video quality and ensure the computer and network stay available.
Looping a sequence of installation clips
If the support presentation consists of multiple files rather than one combined video, OBS’s VLC Video source can play a playlist and has a Loop Playlist setting. VLC must be installed for that source to work. This is useful when the clips need to remain separate; for a simple continuous walkthrough, one correctly ordered, edited file is easier to verify.

Prepare the video and customer-support experience
- Make the loop understandable at any entry point. Customers may join midway through a repeated video. Use clear chapter-like title cards or on-screen step labels so a viewer can identify the current installation stage without hearing the beginning.
- Check the ending-to-beginning transition. The loop restarts when the file ends. Review the transition for an abrupt audio jump, blank frame, or confusing restart; trim or edit the source if necessary.
- Use media you have rights to broadcast. Confirm that you own or have permission for the video, music, voice-over, and any third-party material. A support purpose does not by itself establish permission to use copyrighted material. Review YouTube’s current copyright guidance and policies before streaming.
- Do not rely on a live loop as the only support format. A regular uploaded tutorial is easier for customers to search, pause, and revisit directly. A live loop can provide a continuously available viewing destination, but it is not a substitute for an organized support library.
Bandwidth, access, and rewind limits
YouTube recommends keeping upload capacity above the total bitrate of the stream and advises a 20% margin. Check the encoder’s total outgoing bitrate against the available upload bandwidth, and leave headroom for other network use. The stream can stutter or disconnect if the connection cannot sustain the feed. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
Test that the event is accessible through the intended channel and watch page, including from a mobile device, before directing customers to it. Do not promise unlimited rewind: YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. A continuous all-day loop may therefore not let a customer scrub back through the entire broadcast. YouTube DVR information

Troubleshooting common failures
