To loop a product launch presentation on YouTube Live, play the finished video through an encoder that supports repeat playback, then send that encoder’s feed to a YouTube Live event. YouTube receives the feed; the encoder controls the loop. For a basic setup, use a computer with streaming software, keep it running for the event, and test the loop and stream health before sharing the launch.

What you need before you start

  • A finished presentation video in a format your chosen encoder accepts.
  • A computer running an encoder with a repeat or loop option, or a dedicated encoder with prerecorded-media playout.
  • A YouTube channel able to start a live stream, plus its stream URL and stream key.
  • A stable upload connection with enough capacity for the selected stream quality.

A microphone is needed only if someone will add live narration or commentary. The prerecorded presentation can loop without one. For an unattended scheduled setup, a dedicated hardware encoder is another option; YouTube names the AJA HELO Plus and its PlayToStream function for scheduling prerecorded media to YouTube Live without a computer. Check the device’s current capabilities, scheduling controls, monitoring, and backup options before choosing it.

Prepare the presentation for viewers joining mid-loop

Review the video and loop point

Export the finished video in a format supported by your encoder. Watch the end-to-start transition: a hard cut, silence, or abrupt change in music can make each repeat feel jarring. If the presentation is a playlist rather than one video, decide the order and confirm the encoder can repeat the whole playlist as intended.

Make the message work at any point

Viewers may arrive partway through a loop. Keep the product name, offer details, launch date, and store URL readable on screen long enough to register, and make sure the presentation makes sense without having seen its opening. This is a practical presentation choice, not a guarantee of sales or engagement.

Check permissions for the media

Before streaming, confirm you have the rights or permissions needed for the music, images, clips, product imagery, and other material in the presentation. A live stream does not remove the need to check those rights. The platform setup steps below do not determine whether a particular use is legally permitted.

Create the YouTube Live event

  1. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live.
  2. Create a stream or, for a planned launch, schedule one from the Manage tab. Scheduling creates a shareable event page and lets viewers set reminders.
  3. Set the title, description, thumbnail, and visibility. YouTube offers public, private, and unlisted visibility; check the setting rather than assuming a default, since live-stream privacy defaults can differ by age.
  4. Keep the event open so you can retrieve its stream URL and stream key for the encoder.

Connect an encoder and enable repeat playback

  1. Open your encoder and create a streaming output. If it offers a YouTube connection flow, select YouTube and follow its prompts. Otherwise, copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into the encoder’s corresponding fields.
  2. Use RTMPS when the encoder and connection setup support it. YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS for encoder connections and recommends RTMPS as the encrypted option.
  3. Add the presentation video as a media input or source in the encoder.
  4. Turn on that encoder’s repeat, loop, or playlist-repeat control. The exact setting and label depend on the encoder. YouTube’s connection guide does not define an OBS-specific loop toggle, so check the current help for the encoder you use rather than relying on a label from another version.
  5. Keep the stream key private. Treat it like a credential: do not expose it in screenshots, recordings, or public posts.

YouTube documents the platform connection through its server URL and stream key, but playback repetition is an encoder setting. Confirm both the video’s repeat behavior and the playlist order in the selected encoder before the event.

Choose stream settings and test the feed

YouTube’s encoder-settings guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video options, up to 60 frames per second, AAC or MP3 audio, and constant-bitrate encoding. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds, and recommends RTMPS for an encrypted connection. Your encoder may not expose every option. The following are H.264 bitrate recommendations shown on YouTube Help’s 2026 page; they are recommendations, not minimum connection guarantees.

Resolution and frame rate H.264 recommended bitrate
720p at 30 fps 4 Mbps
720p at 60 fps 6 Mbps
1080p at 30 fps 10 Mbps
1080p at 60 fps 12 Mbps

These figures are the values displayed in YouTube Help’s 2026 page; recheck the live encoder-settings guidance before treating them as current. Choose quality your upload connection can sustain and test the actual setup.

  1. Start the encoder and wait for the preview in YouTube Live Control Room.
  2. Check that both sound and picture are present. Let the video run through the end and back to its beginning so you can confirm the repeat behavior and transition.
  3. Check stream health and that your upload connection can sustain the chosen quality. YouTube recommends testing audio and movement similar to what you plan to stream.
  4. For a scheduled broadcast, click Go Live in Live Control Room after the preview is ready, unless your selected setup has auto-start enabled. Starting the encoder and publishing the scheduled event can be separate actions.
  5. Monitor the stream during the launch so you can respond if the feed or connection becomes unhealthy.

End the event and plan for the archive

When the launch is over, end the event in Live Control Room and stop the encoder feed. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If your planned loop may exceed that duration and you need a complete replay, verify current YouTube behavior and make a separate recording or archive plan rather than assuming the full stream will be saved.

Troubleshoot common loop and live-stream problems

The stream is not appearing in YouTube

Check that the encoder is using the correct event’s server URL and stream key, and that it is actually sending the feed. Keep the key private while checking it. Wait for the Live Control Room preview before taking the scheduled event live.

The video plays once and stops

The loop is controlled by the encoder, not YouTube. Reopen the video or playlist source settings and enable its repeat behavior. Test all the way through the end of the media to confirm the selected repeat mode works.

The picture or audio is missing or unstable

Confirm the encoder is sending a supported video and audio format, check its output settings, and compare the selected quality with the upload connection. YouTube recommends testing before the event and monitoring stream health; reduce the selected quality if the connection cannot sustain it.

The scheduled page exists but viewers cannot see the live program

Confirm the encoder preview is arriving, then check whether the event still needs a separate Go Live action in Live Control Room. Auto-start behavior depends on the setup.

The archive does not cover the full planned loop

Check the event duration. YouTube’s stated automatic-archive condition applies to streams under 12 hours; for longer plans, verify current behavior and keep a separate recording if a complete replay matters.
