Yes, viewers can send Super Chats during an eligible YouTube live stream overnight. YouTube’s published guidance describes Super Chats as a live-stream feature and does not list time of day or a 24/7 duration as a restriction. However, YouTube does not explicitly guarantee Super Chats on continuous or overnight streams, so availability depends on the channel, stream, and viewer meeting the applicable requirements.
What determines whether Super Chat is available?
Super Chat is a paid message feature for eligible live streams and Premieres. YouTube Help describes Super Chats and Super Stickers as ways to post colored, pinned chat messages or stickers during those events. The relevant restrictions are about eligibility and stream settings—not whether it is daytime or nighttime.
Channel eligibility
The channel must have access to fan-funding features, meet YouTube’s applicable requirements, be in a supported location, and accept and follow the relevant terms, including the Commerce Product Module. Super Chat must also be enabled for the channel. YouTube’s requirements and supported locations can change, so check the current details in YouTube Studio’s Earn settings and YouTube’s current eligibility information.
Stream eligibility and chat settings
Super Chat is unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private, or Made for Kids videos, and on YouTube Giving fundraiser videos. Live chat or comments must be on. YouTube also identifies live chat, live chat replay, and Super Chat as features disabled for Made for Kids streams.

Can a viewer send one while you are asleep?
If the stream is live and eligible, and the viewer can access its live chat, the published rules give no reason that the hour alone would prevent a Super Chat. That makes an overnight Super Chat possible, but it is an inference from YouTube’s general live-stream guidance—not an explicit YouTube statement promising availability on every 24/7 stream. Channel or content restrictions, disabled chat, or a change in YouTube’s policies could still affect an individual stream.
What viewers should check
- Open the YouTube watch page. Live chat is available on YouTube watch pages, not embedded players. If a viewer is watching an embed, they may need to open the stream on YouTube to use chat.
- Check whether chat is available. If live chat or comments are turned off, Super Chat is unavailable for that stream.
- Check location and account access. Super Chat availability depends on supported locations and YouTube’s applicable terms and requirements.
Creator checklist before leaving a stream overnight
- In YouTube Studio, confirm the channel has access to fan-funding features and that Super Chat is enabled.
- Make sure the stream is public, is not marked Made for Kids, and is not age-restricted or a YouTube Giving fundraiser.
- Leave live chat or comments enabled.
- Check the current YouTube Studio Earn settings and supported-location information; platform eligibility can change.
Keeping a stream running while you are away
