For a PC you already own, estimate the electricity cost from its average power draw and your local electricity rate: monthly cost = average draw in kW × 24 × 30 × marginal rate in ₹/kWh. A PC drawing 120–200 W continuously uses 86.4–144 kWh in 30 days. Your bill depends on the rate for your next units of consumption, not a single India-wide tariff. Buying a PC is a separate upfront expense; a current, reliable India-wide price for a complete gaming PC is not established here.
Calculate the PC’s 24/7 electricity cost
Use the PC’s average draw at the wall while doing the job you intend to run. Multiply kilowatts by the hours it runs, then by the applicable marginal rate on your electricity bill:
Monthly electricity cost = average draw in kW × 24 hours × 30 days × your marginal electricity rate in ₹/kWh.
| Average continuous draw | Energy over 30 days | Estimated bill |
|---|---|---|
| 120 W (0.12 kW) | 86.4 kWh | 86.4 × your marginal rate |
| 200 W (0.20 kW) | 144 kWh | 144 × your marginal rate |
For example, if the applicable rate for the next units is ₹8/kWh, those energy amounts would cost ₹691.20 and ₹1,152 respectively, before any other bill components. Use your own bill or current utility tariff: rates and slab effects vary by location and consumption. If your tariff is progressive, the additional consumption may fall into a higher slab, so the average rate on the whole bill may not be the right rate for this calculation.

A StreamNeo-published 2026 illustration estimates ₹605–₹1,152 for 30 days at 120–200 W, but the excerpt does not reveal the assumed tariff. Treat it as an illustration, not a universal Indian monthly cost. StreamNeo’s cost article is the cited source for that estimate.
What is included—and what is not
Operating a PC you already own
The calculation above isolates electricity for the PC’s continuous operation. Your actual total can also depend on the display, other equipment left on, broadband charges, and any data limit or overage fees. Check whether the PC will be unattended with its monitor off; include other equipment only if it will also run continuously.

Buying a PC
Hardware purchase is a separate upfront cost, not part of the monthly electricity estimate. No current, complete gaming-PC price for India is established here, so get current retailer quotes for a configuration that meets your workload rather than treating a generic build total as representative.
Live gameplay or a loop of prepared highlights?
“Gaming highlights stream” can mean either broadcasting a game that is running continuously or looping pre-rendered highlight files. The PC workload is different: live gameplay also runs the game, while a prepared-video loop plays existing footage and encodes it for streaming. The available figures do not quantify the power difference for a particular PC, game, or encoder. Measure the machine under the exact workload you plan to use, then apply the formula above.

Also distinguish the computer’s workload from the internet requirement. YouTube’s recommended ingestion bitrate depends on the output resolution, frame rate, and codec. Those recommendations help plan upload capacity; they do not specify what gaming PC to buy.
Upload capacity and YouTube encoder settings
YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and choosing quality that a reliable connection can sustain. Its official H.264 recommendations include 17 Mbps for 1080p60, 14 Mbps for 1080p30, 8 Mbps for 720p60 and 720p30, and 4 Mbps for 480p30. For AV1 or H.265 (HEVC), the guidance includes 12 Mbps at 1080p60 and 6 Mbps at 720p60. These are encoder ingestion recommendations, not broadband-plan guarantees. Allow headroom above the target and test for stability. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and bitrate guidance.

- Supported video codecs: H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 over RTMP/RTMPS.
- Frame rate: up to 60 fps.
- Keyframes: use a two-second interval; YouTube advises not exceeding four seconds.
- Before and during the stream: test the stream before starting and monitor stream health while it is running.
A speed test measures current upload conditions, not whether a connection will remain stable around the clock. A wired connection, router reliability, ISP interruptions, and household upload use can all affect continuity; the YouTube bitrate figures alone do not promise uninterrupted delivery.
Ways to keep the stream running
For a home-PC setup, you control the hardware and encoder, but the PC, internet connection, and power must remain available and you are responsible for monitoring and restarting the stream if something fails. If you need to buy a PC, get current local quotes; the available evidence does not support a particular model or purchase price.

A hosted option can shift the continuous playback and recovery work away from your home machine. StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for uploaded videos and playlists—not a camera-based live broadcast. It lists the same service across plan lengths, with one always-on stream per slot, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and team support. Uploaded videos stream as supplied, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode and no quality tiers. Check the current details at StreamNeo.
Or let it run in the cloud
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud.
Nothing has to stay on at home. Any quality up to 4K 60fps is included at one price per slot, and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. After that, the monthly option is $9.99 per month. Start the free day on StreamNeo.

| Cost or consideration | Home PC | Hosted service |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront hardware | Separate purchase if you do not already own suitable hardware; no current India-wide price established. | No home PC needs to stay on for cloud playback; service fees recur according to the chosen plan. |
| Electricity | Estimate from measured average wall draw and your marginal tariff. | Continuous playback runs in the cloud rather than on your home PC. |
| Internet | Needs stable upload capacity for the selected stream settings; check plan limits. | Your home upload is not used to send the stream from the PC, though you still need internet to manage the service. |
| Control and upkeep | You control the encoder and files, and handle monitoring, power, network, and recovery. | Designed for uploaded-video looping and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream; YouTube remains the destination. |
Compare recurring service charges against the electricity and connection costs you would actually incur, while keeping a PC purchase separate. Your decision also depends on whether you need to run a game continuously, want direct encoder control, or prefer not to leave a home computer on.
Copyright and YouTube channel rules still apply
Using a PC or cloud service does not grant rights to game footage, music, or other material in a highlights compilation. Check that you have the rights or permissions needed for the video and audio you stream, and review YouTube’s current rules for live content and monetization before relying on a continuous loop. The cited encoder guidance covers technical ingestion settings; it does not establish that a particular compilation is copyright-safe or eligible for monetization.
Quick Recap
Troubleshoot the estimate and stream plan
- Your calculated bill looks unexpectedly high: verify that you entered watts as kilowatts (divide watts by 1,000), used 720 hours for a 30-day month, and applied your marginal rate rather than an assumed nationwide price.
- The PC draw is uncertain: use an actual wall-draw measurement while the intended game or prepared-video workload is running. Do not assume the power-supply rating is the computer’s average consumption.
- The stream drops or quality fluctuates: test upload bitrate, reduce the output setting if the connection cannot sustain it, leave headroom, and monitor YouTube stream health.
- Prepared footage does not behave like live gameplay: confirm the source files and playlist are prepared for looping, and separately account for any game process you choose to run.
- A continuous stream stops while unattended: check power, PC sleep settings, broadband stability, encoder state, and the YouTube stream status; decide who or what will notice and recover from an interruption.
