Possibly, but YouTube does not say that streaming 24/7 earns extra recommendations or guarantees new viewers. Recommendations are personalized around what viewers watch and enjoy. For a Malayalam channel, treat continuous streaming as a measurable experiment: compare it with scheduled live sessions and your usual videos or Shorts, then keep it only if it attracts relevant viewers at a sustainable cost.
What a 24/7 stream can—and cannot—do for discovery
A continuous stream gives viewers another way to find and watch your channel. They may arrive through YouTube Search, Browse features, suggested videos, external links, or your channel page. YouTube’s official guidance, however, does not promise that a channel will be recommended more simply because it stays live longer. YouTube says recommendations are driven by what viewers watch and enjoy, and its guidance discusses viewer interests and content performance—not a reward for stream duration. That distinction matters: a stream can accumulate watch time or reach a high concurrent-viewer count without bringing in new people. The useful question is whether it reaches viewers who had not watched the channel before, and whether those viewers respond well enough to support your goals.
Define “new viewers” and choose the right signals
YouTube defines new viewers as people who watched channel content for the first time during the selected period. The audience reporting covers viewing across videos, Shorts, and live streams, so use the channel-level definition rather than treating every live-stream view as a new viewer. For the stream itself, pair reach measures with viewing and audience outcomes. YouTube’s live metrics include views, watch time, average view duration, peak concurrents, and subscribers gained during the stream. - Reach: new viewers, live impressions, and click-through rate.
- Discovery route: traffic from Search, Browse features, suggested videos, external sources, or channel pages; inspect search terms where available.
- Viewing quality: average view duration, total watch time, and peak concurrent viewers.
- Channel outcome: subscribers gained during the stream and changes in casual, regular, or returning-viewer patterns.
- Audience fit: top geographies, subtitle/CC languages, and active times where the reports provide useful data.
Do not infer discovery from stream duration or total watch time alone. A viewer may have watched for a long time without being new to the channel.

Run a fair test against your other formats
- Set a baseline. Review recent audience and live analytics before the pilot. Note the measures above and the periods you will compare.
- Choose a defined pilot period. Run continuous streaming only if the content can remain useful and technically stable. Compare it with scheduled live sessions and your established uploads over a comparable period.
- Compare like with like. Separate live results from video and Shorts results, and compare continuous live with scheduled live where possible. YouTube advises comparing the same content type because audience behavior differs by format. - Review sources and audience response. Check impressions, click-through rate, discovery sources, search terms, average view duration, new viewers, and subscribers gained. Look for viewers who return, not just one peak in concurrent viewers.
- Check who and when. Use geography, subtitle/CC language, and audience activity reports when they contain enough data to guide decisions. Malayalam-language viewers do not necessarily share one country, time zone, or viewing routine.
- Decide against the channel’s goal and effort. Keep the stream if it reaches relevant new viewers or supports another clear channel goal at a sustainable production and monitoring cost.
Choose a streaming method and plan for long broadcasts
YouTube supports live streaming by mobile, webcam, encoder, or console. An encoder can be software or standalone hardware and can connect external camera and audio equipment. The method should fit the content: a webcam-based live show needs a camera and ongoing production, while an encoder is one option for a configured broadcast. Plan separately for archiving. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish what happens to every longer broadcast, so do not assume one uninterrupted 24-hour stream will create a complete archive. Keep the stream useful and within YouTube’s rules
Continuous availability cannot compensate for content that viewers do not want to watch. Choose material that stays relevant while you are away and gives people a reason to join, stay, or return. YouTube’s guidance on new, casual, and regular viewers discusses community-building approaches such as live chat; use interaction where it fits the channel rather than assuming uninterrupted playback builds community by itself. Make sure you have the rights to the music, video, and other material you broadcast. A long-running stream still needs to comply with YouTube’s copyright and other platform rules; neither continuous playback nor a live format makes reused or third-party content automatically permissible. If you plan to leave a broadcast unattended, also consider whether its content and chat need monitoring.
