To stream wind through trees around the clock, prepare a nature video and audio loop you have rights to use, send it to YouTube Live with an encoder, and monitor the stream while it runs. Before going live, test the loop and audio, check YouTube Studio’s preview and stream health, and decide how you will handle replays: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, so a single 24-hour broadcast should not be treated as a guaranteed complete replay.
What you need before going live
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says live streamers must be at least 16 years old. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- A computer capable of running a streaming encoder. YouTube’s cited guidance does not specify a minimum processor, memory, or storage requirement, so use equipment you already have if it can encode reliably.
- A wind-through-trees video and audio track that you own or are licensed to use for the planned YouTube live stream and territory. YouTube’s livestream terms make the broadcaster responsible for necessary rights, including applicable music rights.
- A stable internet upload connection that can sustain the chosen resolution and bitrate.
Prepare a loop that works for long listening
Choose the picture
You can use a fixed shot or a repeating video loop. Be transparent in the title or description if the scene is prerecorded or looped; do not present it as a live camera feed if it is not one. Watch the transition from the end of the clip back to the beginning: branches, leaves, exposure, or camera movement should not visibly jump.
Check the sound
Listen across the loop point with headphones and check that wind levels remain even. Avoid abrupt changes in loudness, clicks, or silence at the seam. These are production checks, not YouTube requirements, but they matter in an ambience stream that viewers may leave playing for a long time.
Confirm usage rights
Keep records of your own source files and any licenses, including their permitted platforms, territories, and live-stream use. Do not assume that a recording is cleared merely because it is described as free or royalty-free. YouTube’s terms say the provider must have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation on Google services, including music licensing rights where applicable.

Create the YouTube Live event and connect an encoder
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Choose the encoder streaming workflow. YouTube supports encoder-based live streams; its encoder setup guide explains creating and managing a stream.
- Create or schedule the stream. Scheduling ahead gives you a watch page and lets viewers set reminders. Set an accurate title and description, and describe the visual honestly if it is a prerecorded loop.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. Enter them in your encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it, and reset it in Studio if it is exposed.
- Configure output settings. YouTube lists H.264, H.265, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; and constant bitrate encoding among supported settings. Select a resolution and bitrate your upload connection can sustain. Use a two-second keyframe interval, as YouTube recommends, and do not exceed four seconds. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for current recommendations.
- Start the encoder and check Studio’s preview. Confirm both moving image and audio arrive correctly before starting or announcing the public stream. Test with audio and motion comparable to the planned broadcast, as recommended in YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Monitor after launch. Check stream health and listen for audio or visual faults. YouTube’s tips also recommend checking that local archive files are growing and verifying that viewers can reach the event from channel and watch pages and on mobile.
Plan continuity separately from the replay
A 24/7 stream and a complete replay are different goals. YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that one continuous 24-hour feed will automatically create a complete replay. If replay preservation matters, decide whether shorter scheduled broadcasts and a separate local recording/archive process better meet your needs, and confirm YouTube’s current archive behavior before relying on it.
Shorter broadcasts can make replay management easier, while a continuous feed prioritizes uninterrupted availability. Choose based on what matters to your audience, and test the schedule and recording process before depending on it.

Monetization and YouTube policy
Monetization is conditional, not automatic. YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance describes ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships where available and eligible; ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.
YouTube applies its video monetization rules to live streams. Its channel monetization policies record a July 15, 2025 clarification that repetitive or mass-produced material falls under the “inauthentic content” policy. That does not mean every ambient loop is automatically disqualified: channel review and the specific execution matter, and the policy calls for material variation and creative, educational, or other value. Consider whether the stream offers meaningful original work rather than simply repeating minimally changed material. Also weigh any ad interruptions against the uninterrupted listening experience some ambience viewers want.

Troubleshoot common stream problems
- Studio does not receive the encoder feed: confirm the encoder is using the stream URL and current stream key shown for that event. Check for accidental spaces or an old key; keep the key private.
- The preview is blank or the stream starts without sound: verify the encoder’s selected video and audio sources, then test the actual loop from beginning through its seam. Confirm both picture and sound in Live Control Room before going public.
- Stream health is unstable or the picture drops out: reduce output quality or bitrate to a level the connection can sustain, and test again. YouTube recommends choosing settings appropriate to the available connection.
- The ambience has a noticeable interruption: inspect the loop boundary for a visual jump, silence, or abrupt level change. Correct the source loop and retest before resuming the long broadcast.
- The replay is incomplete or absent: check the stream’s duration and archive expectations. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; plan separately for a continuous stream longer than that and for local preservation.
