1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUse FFmpeg’s ffprobe to inspect the actual video file, confirm its encoded dimensions and frame-rate fields, count frames against the clip’s duration, and examine motion for repeated frames or signs of enlargement. These checks can establish what the file contains; they cannot, on their own, prove that a camera originally captured genuine 4K at 60 fps. If original capture authenticity matters, check the camera original and other production records too.
What “true 4K 60fps” can—and cannot—mean
For a delivered video file, the practical first check is whether its video stream reports 3840×2160 pixels and a frame rate consistent with 60 frames per second. Those are properties of the encoded stream, not proof of the footage’s history. An editor can enlarge lower-resolution footage to 3840×2160, and a file can contain repeated frames while reporting a nominal 60 fps rate.
So distinguish two questions: “Does this file encode 4K-sized frames at a 60 fps cadence?” and “Was this footage originally captured by a camera at 4K and 60 fps?” File inspection helps answer the first. The second requires provenance, such as the camera original or recording records; metadata in a derivative file cannot establish it by itself.
Inspect the delivered file with ffprobe
ffprobe, part of the FFmpeg project, gathers information from multimedia streams in human- and machine-readable forms. Its output can show video-stream properties, frame information, and frame counts. See the FFmpeg ffprobe documentation.

Run a full-stream inspection
ffprobe -v error -select_streams v:0 -count_frames -show_streams -show_format -of json input.mp4
Replace input.mp4 with the path to your file. The command selects the first video stream, counts its frames, and prints stream and container information as JSON. Field names and availability can vary with the container and stream. In the selected video stream, look for:
widthandheight: for UHD 4K, the expected values are 3840 and 2160.r_frame_rateandavg_frame_rate: rational values such as60000/1001are more informative than a rounded display that simply says “60.” Read the reported values rather than assuming they are exact integers.nb_read_frames: when present after counting, the number of frames read from the selected stream.- Duration: compare the stream or format duration with the counted frames as a consistency check.
A filename, export preset, or project label that says “4K” or “60 fps” is not a substitute for inspecting the exported file itself.
Cross-check frame rate and motion
Compare frame count with duration
Divide the counted video frames by the video duration in seconds to get an approximate average cadence. Compare that result with the reported frame-rate fields. This can reveal an inconsistency—for example, a nominal 60 fps label alongside a much lower average cadence—but it is not a forensic test. Variable-frame-rate footage, timestamps, container details, or an incomplete read can affect interpretation. Use stream-level frame information and a full-file count when the distinction matters.

Look for repeated frames and scaling
Inspect decoded frames at several points in the file, especially during motion. Repeated imagery can make nominally high-frame-rate footage behave like lower-rate footage. Look closely at fine detail and edges for softness or scaling artifacts that may suggest lower-resolution material was enlarged. Visual inspection is useful evidence, but it cannot conclusively establish capture resolution or history.
For frame-level inspection, use ffprobe’s frame-display options as documented by FFmpeg, then review representative parts of the video rather than relying on a single still frame. A static scene may reveal little about cadence; movement makes repeated frames easier to notice.
Verify capture authenticity with provenance
If you need to claim that footage was originally recorded in 4K at 60 fps, compare the loop source with the camera original and any independently retained recording records or source material. A transcode may preserve resolution and frame rate, or alter them; metadata describes the resulting encoded stream, not necessarily how it was first captured or processed.

- Quality Visuals: The VG270K 27" IPS monitor with 3840 x 2160 UHD resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio presents stunning, high-quality images with excellent detail. The zero-frame design does away with the thick frames found on conventional monitors freeing up precious screen space.
- AMD FreeSync Technology: Say “goodbye” to stuttering and tearing. With AMD FreeSync, the monitor’s frames are synced with the graphics card’s frames, which eliminates screen tearing and provides the smoothest gaming experience.
- Quick Refresh Rate: Different content has different refresh rate and resolution requirements. If you are playing an FPS or racing game, you will need a monitor with a high refresh rate. However, if you are doing office work or streaming videos, a higher resolution will be more beneficial. With DFR technology, users can choose a higher resolution, or a higher refresh rate based on what is suitable for them.
- Responsive: Up to 0.5ms GTG (Gray to Gray) response time enhanced gamers’ in-game experience. No matter if the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting
- ZeroFrame Design: With a Nitro VG270K monitor, you’ll want to see as much of the display as possible. Get more real estate with the near bezel-less design, allowing you to see more and do more. The ZeroFrame design lets you place multiple monitors next to each other for a seamless, almost uninterrupted view.
- Keep the original camera files where possible.
- Compare the candidate loop file with the original rather than relying solely on its filename or export settings.
- Use recording records or other independently retained source evidence when the capture claim has legal, contractual, or archival importance.
Configure YouTube Live separately from checking the file
Source-file verification and live ingest are different checks. A correctly encoded source does not guarantee that the live encoder is configured to send the intended resolution and frame rate. Conversely, the quality offered to viewers is not a direct test of the source file: YouTube says it transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for different devices and networks.
YouTube’s live encoder settings and bitrate guidance supports 4K/2160p at 60 fps. Its English guidance recommends 35 Mbps for H.264 at that setting. This is a platform ingest recommendation, not a measurement of your file or a universal minimum for visual quality. The same guidance lists a 10–40 Mbps range for AV1/H.265 at 4K/60; confirm the current codec-specific table in YouTube’s documentation and Live Control Room because operational recommendations can change.
Check the encoder settings and stream health
- Set the encoder’s output resolution and frame rate to the delivery you intend, up to 2160p at 60 fps.
- For H.264 at 4K/60, use YouTube’s recommended 35 Mbps bitrate as the platform’s stated target. Do not confuse it with the separate upload recommendation.
- Use constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says the interval should not exceed four seconds.
- YouTube’s RTMP/RTMPS video codec guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1. It recommends RTMPS.
- Test the setup before the loop and monitor stream-health messages while it runs. YouTube’s 4K/2160 option uses normal latency; the low-latency improvement option is not available for that resolution.
Viewer playback settings may differ from the incoming encoder settings because YouTube transcodes a live stream. A viewer who cannot select 2160p60 has not thereby proved that the source file was not 4K60.

Do not mix up live ingest with upload encoding
YouTube’s separate upload encoding recommendations say to encode and upload content at the same frame rate at which it was recorded. The guidance lists 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60 fps as common rates, and gives a recommended SDR upload bitrate range of 53–68 Mbps for 2160p high-frame-rate video. That upload range is not the live-ingest recommendation; use the live settings guidance for a YouTube Live encoder.

The file reports a resolution below 3840×2160
The inspected video stream is not encoded at 3840×2160. Check that you selected the intended file and video stream, then inspect the final export rather than the editing project. An export preset cannot add genuine captured detail that was absent from the source.
The file reports 3840×2160, but the footage looks soft
The dimensions establish the encoded frame size, not the camera’s original capture resolution. Check detail across representative frames and compare against the camera original or production records. Upscaling can produce 3840×2160 dimensions without the detail expected from native 4K capture.

The rate says 60, but motion looks uneven
Check both rational frame-rate fields and the counted frames over the full duration. Inspect moving sections for repeated frames. A rounded “60” label alone does not show that every frame is unique or that the source was captured at 60 fps.
The frame count and duration do not align with the reported rate
Confirm that ffprobe selected the intended video stream and completed its read; then examine the stream-level rate and duration fields rather than relying only on the container duration. Frame count divided by duration is a cross-check, not a stand-alone forensic result.
The live stream does not appear as 2160p60
Check the encoder’s output resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, keyframe interval, and YouTube stream-health messages. Also allow for YouTube’s live transcoding: viewer playback options are not a direct readout of the source file or incoming encoder settings.
