If a YouTube 24/7 stream keeps buffering on Airtel Xstream Fiber, first lower the player’s quality and replay the same stream. Then compare another device, another service, and—if possible—Wi-Fi with Ethernet. These checks help identify whether the symptom is limited to one device or appears across your home connection; they cannot, by themselves, diagnose Airtel’s line or account.
1. Lower YouTube’s playback quality
While the stream is playing, open Settings → Quality in the YouTube player and select a lower available resolution. Menu details can vary by device. If buffering eases, keep the lower setting as a temporary workaround while you continue troubleshooting; the trade-off is less image detail. A change in playback quality is a useful test, not proof that your broadband plan is inadequate.
YouTube recommends adjusting quality for playback problems, and Airtel also suggests lowering quality when YouTube buffers. See YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance and Airtel’s YouTube buffering suggestions.
2. Work out how widely the problem occurs
- Try the same stream on another supported device. If only one device buffers, focus first on its YouTube app, browser, or performance.
- Try another YouTube video and another online service. If those play normally but the live stream does not, the issue may be specific to that playback or stream path; the comparison does not identify the cause conclusively.
- If practical, compare another internet connection. For example, test using mobile data. If playback changes, that narrows the possibilities but does not establish exactly where the fault lies.
YouTube notes that “Network congestion and other factors may also cause live programming issues, which can delay the stream.” This is a general explanation of live playback, not a diagnosis of Airtel’s network. YouTube recommends testing another supported device and changing the internet connection as part of troubleshooting.

3. Refresh the app, browser, or device
- Close and reopen YouTube, or refresh the page if watching in a browser.
- On a device that provides the option, clear the YouTube app cache.
- Restart the device and install available YouTube app and system updates.
- For browser playback, try another browser or a private window, and use the YouTube app or youtube.com.
Exact settings paths differ by television, phone, computer, and operating-system version. Airtel and YouTube both include app/browser or device checks in their buffering guidance.
4. Check whether Wi-Fi is the weak link
Move the viewing device closer to the router and away from obvious obstructions, then replay the same stream. Temporarily pause downloads, large uploads, and other heavy network use in the household to see whether the symptom changes. This is a test, not a permanent requirement to disconnect other devices.

If your router offers both bands, test the one that works better at the viewing location. Airtel describes 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi as generally longer-range and 5 GHz as faster but shorter-range. Neither is universally better: distance, walls, interference, and the router and device all affect the result.
5. Compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection
If the television or computer has an Ethernet port, connect it temporarily to the ONT/router with an RJ45 Ethernet cable and replay the same stream. Airtel’s fiber guidance describes Cat5/Cat6 cabling for a wired connection. Check that the cable is long enough and that the device has a compatible port before buying one.

If playback improves over Ethernet, Wi-Fi conditions may be contributing. That result does not prove the router is defective, and a cable is a diagnostic option rather than a guaranteed fix.
6. Check the fiber equipment and restart it safely
- Check that the ONT/router has power and that visible connections are secure. Do not tug or sharply bend the fiber patch cord: Airtel warns that acute bends can degrade connection quality.
- To restart the ONT/router, disconnect its power, wait roughly 15–20 seconds until the lights go off, reconnect power, and allow it time to re-establish the connection.
- Retry the stream and check whether indicator lights or service remain abnormal. If they do, contact Airtel rather than repeatedly disturbing the fiber cable.

7. Decide whom to contact—and what to report
Contact Airtel through its current support channel if several devices or services have trouble, or if connection indicators or service remain abnormal after the basic checks. If other internet use works and the buffering is limited to YouTube after you have compared devices and connections, send feedback through YouTube Help and Feedback.
When reporting the problem, note the time, device and app/browser, whether other services work, and whether Ethernet or another connection changes the symptom. Those observations can help support narrow the issue. They do not establish an outage, account fault, or line condition; only Airtel can inspect your subscriber connection and account.

What a speed test can—and cannot—tell you
A speed test is one diagnostic datapoint, not proof that a connection is or is not the cause. Playback can also be affected by stream quality, connection stability, Wi-Fi conditions, device performance, other household use, congestion, and service-side factors. The available guidance does not establish a universal minimum speed or a buffering rate for a 24/7 YouTube stream on Airtel Xstream Fiber, so a single numeric threshold would be misleading.
