To keep a 4K property-tour presentation running on YouTube Live, first decide what “continuously” means: a live camera view from a property, or a 24/7 presentation made from prerecorded tours. For a live camera, send the camera feed through an encoder and configure YouTube’s recommended 4K settings. For prerecorded footage, use a cloud playback service designed for continuous streams and label the broadcast clearly; it is not a live view of the property.
Choose the right kind of continuous stream
The two workflows solve different problems. A live camera tour shows what is happening at the property now; a continuous prerecorded showcase plays existing walkthroughs in a loop or playlist. YouTube’s verified-encoder directory lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for continuous prerecorded streams in Full HD and 4K. Confirm a provider’s current capabilities and terms before purchase.

Check YouTube channel eligibility first
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions during the preceding 90 days. If live streaming has not been enabled before, activation can take up to 24 hours. Check eligibility and enable the feature in YouTube Studio before scheduling a production launch; see YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and encoder setup guidance.
Content must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. For property footage, obtain permission to film and stream interiors, occupants, artwork, and other material where needed. Use music and other third-party content only when you have the rights or applicable permission; a stream being promotional or prerecorded does not itself clear copyright. Describe prerecorded footage accurately so viewers do not mistake it for a live camera feed.

Configure a 4K live-camera stream
Recommended encoder settings
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video codecs, and frame rates up to 60 fps. It recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. Match bitrate to both the selected resolution and frame rate:

These are YouTube’s recommended encoder bitrates, not a guarantee that a particular camera, encoder, or network will sustain them. Keep the stream’s resolution and frame rate consistent from capture through encoder output where practical. YouTube says 4K/2160p streams cannot use the low-latency optimization and therefore use normal latency. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

Set up the encoder and event
- Enable live streaming and create the event. Verify the channel and confirm it has no live-stream restriction in the last 90 days. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or configure the broadcast.
- Connect the camera and audio. Feed the camera or capture hardware into the encoder, then select the intended 2160p frame rate and audio sources. The exact camera and capture path depends on your equipment; YouTube’s encoder workflow supports external audio and video hardware for more advanced productions.
- Enter YouTube’s ingest details. In the encoder, choose RTMPS when available, then enter the stream URL and stream key shown for the event in Live Control Room. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the broadcast.
- Apply the matching settings. Set CBR, the bitrate from the table, and a 2-second keyframe interval (never more than 4 seconds). Select 2160p30 or 2160p60 and the codec you intend to use.
- Check upload capacity from the property. Test outbound throughput at the actual streaming location, not just download speed. YouTube recommends about 20% upload headroom above the total stream bitrate. Include any backup stream in the capacity calculation.
- Preview, test, then go live. Run a representative test with camera movement and the actual audio arrangement. Inspect the Live Control Room preview before starting publicly, monitor stream-health alerts during the broadcast, and test encoder failover. If recording locally, confirm that the recording file is growing and usable.
YouTube’s practical guidance on connection checks, testing, and monitoring is in Live streaming tips. A wired connection and a stable, dedicated upload path can reduce avoidable variability, but the decisive check is whether the location sustains the encoder’s outbound stream with headroom.
Plan for long-running broadcasts and replays
A stream that remains available continuously is not necessarily a reliable full-length video-on-demand archive. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, including 4K streams; if a stream exceeds 12 hours, “it may not be captured at all.” The threshold is an archive limitation, not a recommended broadcast duration. If preserving a replay matters, record locally and verify the file during the stream. For a channel that must stay live beyond 12 hours, consider separating the uninterrupted live presentation from replay preservation: rotate broadcasts or publish a separately edited/uploaded replay. Those are workflow choices, not guarantees about YouTube’s archive behavior.

- You cannot start a live stream: Confirm channel verification and live-stream eligibility. First-time activation may still be processing for up to 24 hours; check Live Control Room for restrictions or setup status.
- The encoder will not connect: Recheck the event’s stream URL and key, confirm the selected protocol is supported, and ensure the key corresponds to the current event. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- YouTube reports poor stream health or the picture stutters: Measure outbound speed at the property, reduce competing network traffic, and verify that available upload capacity exceeds the stream bitrate by roughly 20%. Include backup streams when calculating total capacity.
- The image breaks up during motion: Test with representative camera movement, not a static shot. Confirm the encoder is using the correct codec, resolution, frame rate, CBR, and bitrate from YouTube’s table; if the connection cannot sustain the selected mode, choose a lower 4K frame rate or otherwise reduce the stream load.
- The stream looks delayed: 4K does not support YouTube’s low-latency optimization, so normal latency applies. Do not expect a low-latency setting to remove this constraint.
- The full broadcast is missing from archives: Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Check the local recording and use a separately managed replay workflow rather than relying on a complete YouTube VOD for a continuous broadcast.
- The stream is interrupted: Check encoder and network status, then follow the encoder’s reconnection or failover procedure. Test recovery before the real estate presentation; do not assume a backup path works until it has been exercised.
