To stream a product training playlist continuously as a YouTube Live broadcast, send a continuous video feed to YouTube through an encoder or a cloud streaming service. Looping a playlist in YouTube’s watch player only repeats playback for an individual viewer; it does not create a live stream.
Choose how to keep the live feed running
YouTube supports software encoders running on a computer and standalone hardware encoders. For prerecorded video streamed continuously from the cloud, YouTube’s encoder guidance also lists Gyre. The right option depends on whether a computer at your location can remain on and how your chosen tool handles video order, transitions, and recovery after interruptions.
- Local software encoder: Runs on a computer, so the computer and its internet connection need to remain available for the stream.
- Standalone hardware encoder: A separate supported encoder category; check its documentation for playlist and repeat controls.
- Cloud service: Can run a prerecorded stream without relying on a local computer. Confirm that the service supports continuous playback of your training videos and the playlist behavior you need.
YouTube’s guidance describes these broad categories but does not provide a neutral feature-by-feature comparison of encoder products or prescribe one set of playlist controls across them. Check the selected tool’s instructions for importing videos, ordering them, setting repeat behavior, and recovering after a connection interruption.
Prepare the channel and training videos
Confirm live streaming is available
Your channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder guidance and live-streaming setup instructions. Enable access and allow for that activation time before scheduling a training broadcast.

Check video and audio rights
Clear the rights to every video, image, music track, and other audio element before broadcasting. A playlist being used for internal or instructional training does not by itself establish that you have permission to stream its contents. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance and make sure the material is authorized for the intended broadcast.
Decide how viewers will use the stream afterward
Plan whether viewers need to rewind during the broadcast or watch an archive later. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For streams longer than 12 hours, automatic archiving should not be assumed, and DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable. See YouTube’s guidance on stream archives and live-stream settings. If a dependable archive or rewind is important, test the intended duration and viewing experience in advance.

Set up the continuous YouTube Live stream
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then create or select the stream in Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance describes creating a stream and connecting an encoder.
- Copy the connection details. Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube into the matching fields in your encoder or streaming service. Treat the key like a password: it directs the encoder to your stream and lets YouTube accept its feed. Do not share it publicly.
- Build the prerecorded program in your chosen tool. Add the training videos, set their order and repeat behavior, and configure playback to continue as intended. These controls vary by product; follow that tool’s instructions rather than assuming YouTube supplies a universal playlist-loop setting for encoders.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. YouTube recommends testing beforehand. Start the feed, wait for it to appear in Live Control Room, and check that video and audio are correct before selecting Go Live.
- Confirm access and monitor the broadcast. Check that the event can be opened from the channel or watch page and on mobile devices. Monitor audio and video throughout the stream, and have a plan for responding if playback or the connection stops.
- Handle the end condition deliberately. Decide how the stream will be stopped or divided, and test your archive and DVR expectations against the duration you plan to run. Do not rely on the same archive behavior for a stream exceeding 12 hours.
Preflight checklist for a training broadcast
- The channel is verified, live streaming is enabled, and any first-time activation wait is complete.
- The encoder or cloud service has the correct YouTube stream URL and stream key.
- All videos and audio are authorized for streaming.
- The playlist order and repeat behavior have been tested from beginning to end.
- The preview has been checked for picture, sound, and unintended gaps.
- The event’s audience access has been checked on a watch page and a mobile device.
- Someone or some process is assigned to monitor the feed and respond to an interruption.
- The archive and DVR plan accounts for YouTube’s 12-hour limitations.
Troubleshooting common problems
