The best settings for streaming Cyberpunk 2077 are the ones that preserve enough performance for both the game and the stream. Start with a platform-compatible hardware encoder, choose a resolution and frame rate your PC and upload connection can sustain, and leave the game some GPU headroom. If the stream stutters, first distinguish network-related dropped frames from low in-game frame rate.
Choose settings for your platform and hardware
Streaming settings are a balance between three limits: the detail you render in the game, the work your encoder must do, and the bitrate your connection can reliably send. A setting that works on one PC or platform may not suit another. Confirm your platform’s current codec and bitrate support, then use the following as a starting point rather than a guarantee.
Pick a compatible encoder and codec
If you have a supported NVIDIA GPU, NVENC uses a dedicated encoding section of the GPU, according to NVIDIA. In its OBS guide, NVIDIA recommends Hardware (NVENC, H.264) for Twitch. For YouTube, it recommends Hardware (NVENC, AV1) on an RTX 40 Series GPU, or NVENC HEVC otherwise. These are vendor recommendations for compatible setups; verify current YouTube, Twitch, GPU, and OBS support before choosing a codec. NVIDIA’s OBS broadcasting guide describes the guidance.
For NVIDIA NVENC in OBS Advanced Output settings, NVIDIA’s suggested starting values are CBR rate control, a two-second keyframe interval, P6 preset, High Quality tuning, and two-pass quarter-resolution multipass. These are not universal requirements; the available labels and options can vary by OBS version and encoder.

Use a practical starting profile
Streamlabs publishes these sample Twitch profiles for Cyberpunk 2077. Its examples pair them with CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, the Quality preset, and two B-frames. Treat the bitrate values as examples, not current platform-wide rules; verify Twitch’s current limits and test your own connection. Streamlabs’ Cyberpunk streaming guide provides the examples.
| Output | Streamlabs sample Twitch bitrate | When to try it |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 60 fps | 6,000 kbps | When the PC can render the game smoothly and the upload connection can sustain the bitrate. |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 4,500 kbps | When you want 1080p but need a lower frame-rate target. |
| 720p at 60 fps | 4,500 kbps | When motion smoothness matters more than output resolution. |
| 720p at 30 fps | 3,000 kbps | When you need a less demanding starting profile. |
In OBS, set the output resolution and frame rate in Settings > Video, and configure the encoder, rate control, bitrate, keyframe interval, and preset under Settings > Output with Output Mode set to Advanced. Check your OBS version’s labels and encoder-specific controls; not every encoder exposes identical options. Make a private or unlisted test stream where available, review the result, and adjust one setting at a time.
Keep Cyberpunk from using all your GPU
The game and stream compete for system resources. NVIDIA says GPU use above 95% can, in some cases, make a stream lag. Its OBS guide suggests capping in-game frame rate, lowering graphics settings or resolution, using borderless windowed mode, or enabling V-Sync to reduce GPU use. Which adjustment helps most depends on your hardware and setup. Avoid treating 95% as a universal cutoff.

Leave frame-rate headroom
For a 60 fps stream target, Streamlabs recommends running the game at 70 fps or higher as practical headroom, and lowering graphics settings if needed. That is guidance, not a measured guarantee that every system will stream smoothly. If the game cannot maintain a stable frame rate while encoding, reduce demanding settings or cap its frame rate before assuming an upgrade is necessary.
Set expectations for demanding graphics modes
Path Tracing: Overdrive is an optional, GPU-intensive visual mode, not a baseline streaming requirement; CD PROJEKT RED says it is off by default. Its support page recommends Overdrive on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series cards from the 4070 Ti upward, and on an RTX 3090 at 1080p/30 fps. This guidance applies to Overdrive, not streaming generally. CD PROJEKT RED’s Overdrive support guidance explains the recommendation.
CD PROJEKT RED’s published PC performance examples list 60 expected fps for its recommended non-ray-tracing configuration at 1080p/high and for its Ultra example at 2160p. Its 2160p Ray Tracing Overdrive example lists an RTX 4080 and 60 expected fps, measured with DLSS Frame Generation. These are the publisher’s internal test results, not a promise for your PC; performance varies with hardware and software, graphics settings, and resolution. The published PC requirements and performance examples include that qualification.

CD PROJEKT RED’s DLSS 4 support note covers the feature.
Set bitrate around a stable upload connection
OBS distinguishes network trouble from game performance trouble: dropped frames mean the connection to the remote server is unstable or the configured bitrate cannot be sustained. OBS suggests trying another server and lowering bitrate. Its troubleshooting page offers 75% of total upload speed as a starting point, while noting that the streaming service’s limits also constrain bitrate. Lower bitrate can reduce visual quality. OBS’s stream connection troubleshooting guide has further checks.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Check OBS Stats while streaming. If OBS reports dropped frames, treat it as a connection or bitrate issue first, not proof that Cyberpunk’s frame rate is low.
- Lower the configured bitrate. Use a value your connection can sustain consistently, within the platform’s current limits.
- Try another ingest server. A different server may improve connection stability.
- Retest under normal play conditions. A quiet menu or brief test may not reflect the load of sustained gameplay and streaming.
Reduce copyright risk from game audio
Cyberpunk 2077‘s Streamer Mode can disable certain songs for streaming and video use, which can help reduce copyright risk when game audio is included. It does not guarantee immunity from copyright claims or strikes. Streamlabs describes the feature in its Cyberpunk streaming guide. Check the game’s current settings and the music rights that apply to your use.

Troubleshoot stutters and stream problems
| Symptom | Likely area to check | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| OBS reports dropped frames | Network stability, bitrate, or ingest server | Lower bitrate, test another server, and compare the configured bitrate with sustained upload capacity and platform limits. |
| The game runs poorly while the stream is active | GPU headroom or game settings | Cap the game’s frame rate, reduce graphics demand or resolution, or try borderless windowed mode or V-Sync. |
| The stream looks blocky after reducing bitrate | Less bandwidth available for the same output | Try a lower output resolution or frame rate, or improve connection stability before raising bitrate. |
| Encoder or codec option is missing | Hardware, drivers, OBS version, or platform support | Confirm that the GPU and software support the encoder and that the streaming platform accepts the codec; use a supported alternative if not. |
| Gameplay is smooth but stream motion looks uneven | Output frame rate, encoder load, or stream configuration | Check OBS output settings and encoder load; test a lower output target if the PC cannot sustain the current combination. |
| Game music may trigger a claim | Copyrighted soundtrack audio | Enable Streamer Mode to disable certain songs, while recognizing it cannot guarantee that a claim will not occur. |
Do you need a hardware upgrade?
Not necessarily. First try lower-cost configuration changes: reduce GPU-heavy game settings, cap the game’s frame rate, lower stream resolution or frame rate, and find a bitrate your upload can sustain. A hardware upgrade is a possible next step only if your current PC still cannot meet the game and stream workload after those changes. CD PROJEKT RED’s PC requirements page also specifies SSD storage and says SSDs offer faster loading, improved streaming, and better overall performance than HDDs; it notes that previously listed minimum hardware might still run the game as active support and testing change. Check the current published PC requirements for your system context.
