If Larix Broadcaster keeps disconnecting from YouTube, first find out which connection is failing: Larix’s connection to YouTube, the phone’s encoder, the internet uplink, or YouTube’s ingest. Check the server URL and stream key, test upload stability, inspect encoder health, and use YouTube Live Control Room during a short test. Then adjust Larix’s reconnect settings if needed. No single setting can fix every cause.

Find out where the stream is breaking

Run a short private or unlisted test and watch both Larix and YouTube Live Control Room. Note what happens at the moment of the drop:

  • Larix reports a publishing disconnect or reconnect: check its connection details, app and encoder, and the phone’s outbound network.
  • Larix appears connected but YouTube reports poor stream health or missing incoming video: inspect the ingest URL, stream key, bitrate, and uplink.
  • YouTube receives a healthy stream but viewers lose playback: the problem may be after ingest rather than a Larix publishing disconnect.

YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking encoder output and then testing the outbound connection to help distinguish encoder problems from connection problems. YouTube also warns that a connectivity disruption can break a stream. YouTube’s streaming tips and encoder troubleshooting guidance provide the relevant checks.

Check Larix’s YouTube connection details

  1. Open YouTube Live Control Room and locate the stream’s current server URL and stream key.
  2. In Larix, open the connection configuration and compare its server URL and key with the current values in YouTube. Larix’s connection uses the server URL and stream name or key, as described in Softvelum’s Larix FAQ.
  3. If the encoder will not start or the key may be outdated, create or select the intended key in YouTube and update it in Larix. YouTube advises updating the key in a third-party encoder when it cannot start; see YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
  4. Run another brief test and check whether YouTube receives the stream.

Treat the stream key like a password: do not post it publicly or include it in screenshots shared for troubleshooting.

Test the upload connection and leave headroom

Measure upload speed—not just download speed—on the same phone and network, as close as possible to the place and time you plan to stream. Compare the available upload capacity with the stream’s total bitrate and other traffic using that connection. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. That is a recommendation, not a guarantee of stability on a fluctuating mobile connection. See YouTube’s guidance on network setup and streaming.

  • If upload varies or is close to the stream’s bitrate, try a more stable network at the streaming location and test again.
  • If capacity is insufficient, lower the stream bitrate or resolution to a level the connection can sustain, then retest.
  • Account for competing uploads and other devices sharing the connection; a speed test taken under different conditions may not reflect the stream’s real capacity.

Do not choose a bitrate from a single universal rule. YouTube’s recommended ranges vary by resolution, frame rate, and codec; for example, its table gives a range of 2–6 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps depending on codec. Use the recommendation for your actual format as a starting point, then confirm stream health under your real network conditions. The figures are YouTube recommendations, not a diagnosis of your connection. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate recommendations.

Check the encoder, phone, and Larix version

  1. Update Larix to a current version for your device.
  2. Check the video and audio locally in the app, where available. If the local feed is already poor, simplify the video settings and inspect whether the phone is struggling.
  3. Check for encoder errors and high CPU load. YouTube’s troubleshooting advice also suggests checking a local archive when available.
  4. If the local output looks healthy but publishing still drops, focus next on the outbound connection and YouTube’s stream-health messages.

Exact diagnostics and menu labels can differ by device and app version; the title alone does not identify your phone, operating system, Larix version, network, or error message.

Adjust Larix reconnect behavior carefully

Softvelum documents Advanced settings under Settings > Connections. In its FAQ, Reconnect timeout is the delay before Larix tries to connect again. A setting called Don’t check network presence changes retry behavior when the network is unavailable or briefly goes offline. The same documentation describes additional reconnect-related controls on iOS, including reconnect timeout without network, idle timeout, and an unsent-data threshold. Availability and names may vary by platform and version; check the settings shown in your installation rather than assuming every option exists. Softvelum documents these Larix settings here.

Verify the ingest protocol and YouTube stream health

YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion. Confirm that the server URL and protocol selected in Larix match the intended YouTube configuration and are supported by that Larix connection setup. After any change, run a test and check Live Control Room’s stream-health indicators and messages. Switching protocol is not established as a fix for every disconnection. YouTube’s streaming guidance explains its recommendation.
