If the redirect option or destination is missing, check the sender channel’s eligibility, the recipient channel’s permission settings, whether a suitable target is available, and whether your source stream is horizontal. You need more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes to send a redirect.
Does YouTube Live Redirect work in India?
YouTube’s feature guidance does not state a special India-only sender threshold or say that India is excluded. That means the published requirements do not identify India as the cause by itself; it does not guarantee that every channel can use the feature. Account eligibility, policy status, recipient permissions, the target’s availability, and stream format can still prevent a redirect. YouTube’s Live Redirect guidance describes the feature rules.
Check the requirements that control a redirect
Sender channel eligibility
The sending channel must have more than 1,000 subscribers—exactly 1,000 is not enough—and no Community Guidelines strikes. This is the Live Redirect sender test, not the full set of requirements for starting a livestream.
Livestream access is a separate check
To livestream at all, a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Those are general livestream prerequisites; meeting them does not replace the separate Live Redirect sender requirements. Destination channel permission
For a redirect to another channel’s live stream, that channel must permit the sender. Recipient settings can allow subscribed channels, all channels, or specific channels approved by the recipient. If the recipient relies on the subscribed-channels option, public subscription visibility is relevant to that permission behavior. Ask the destination creator to check the setting rather than changing your account country or using a VPN.
A selectable destination must exist
A redirect can point to a Premiere or another channel’s live stream. The destination must be available for selection and allowed by its channel’s settings. If the creator is not live and has no eligible upcoming stream or Premiere, there may be nothing to choose.

Use a horizontal source stream
YouTube’s live feature comparison lists Live Redirect for horizontal live streams, not the vertical live feed. If your source is vertical, use a horizontal-stream workflow when you need Live Redirect. Check YouTube’s live-stream feature comparison for the format distinction.
Set up or repair the redirect in YouTube Studio
- Verify eligibility: Confirm the sender channel has more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Separately confirm the channel is able to livestream.
- Confirm recipient authorization: Ask the destination channel owner to review YouTube Studio > Settings > Community and permit your channel through the subscribed-channel, all-channel, or manually approved option.
- Confirm the destination: Make sure the target is an available Premiere or another channel’s live stream and that recipient settings allow the redirect.
- Open the source video: In YouTube Studio, go to Content > Live and edit the source live video.
- Choose the redirect target: Open Customization, find Redirect, and add the permitted destination.
- Check the source format: If you are using the vertical live feed, switch to a horizontal stream workflow for the redirect.
- End the source stream: YouTube describes the audience move as occurring after the source stream ends; do not expect the redirect to move viewers immediately while that stream is still running.
Troubleshoot by symptom

What will not unlock Live Redirect
- A VPN or changing your account country does not address the documented eligibility, recipient permission, target-availability, or format checks.
- A webcam, capture card, router, or other streaming hardware can support broadcasting, but does not grant Live Redirect eligibility or permission.
- Meeting general livestream requirements alone does not satisfy the separate Live Redirect sender threshold.
