If vMix playlist audio is missing from YouTube Live, first check whether the playlist’s input meter moves in the vMix Audio Mixer. If it does, the audio is reaching vMix; check the playlist’s audio bus and the mix selected for streaming. If it does not, check that the List Input is loaded and playing and that its audio is not muted. Use the checks below to find where the signal disappears before changing encoder settings.
1. Find where the audio disappears
- In vMix, start the playlist and open the Audio Mixer.
- Watch the meter for the playlist input while audio should be playing. vMix’s List Input supports lists of video, audio, and M3U playlist files as one input (vMix List Input training).
- If the meter does not move, confirm the intended List Input and files are loaded, playback is running, and the input is not muted. Resolve that input-level problem before adjusting the stream mix.
- If the meter moves, the input has audio. Continue to the local monitor and routing checks.
2. Use Solo to check local audibility
Solo the playlist input in the Audio Mixer and listen through vMix’s headphone monitor. Solo is a preview and does not change the Master mix. Hearing the playlist through Solo confirms that vMix can monitor the input; it does not prove the stream mix includes it. vMix documents the mixer’s meters, mute controls, and Solo behavior in its vMix 29 Audio Mixer guide.
3. Check the playlist’s audio state and automatic mixing
Confirm the playlist audio is enabled and routed to the intended mix. Check the input’s M (Master) and mute/speaker controls. A video visible in Preview or Output does not by itself establish that its audio is included in the stream.
vMix’s Automatically Mix Audio behavior can switch active audio to match the active video input. If playlist audio should continue while another visual is active, inspect the Follow/Automatically Mix Audio setting and ensure the playlist remains enabled in the desired mix. The exact control presentation can vary by installed vMix version; see the vMix 29 Audio guide.

#1 Best Overall
- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. The XLR mixer is a stepping stone to upgrade your live streaming. Audio mixer offered built-in 48V phantom power which opens up more choices for mics. Directly use it with your condenser microphone but do not solve added peripherals. (NOT available for USB mic)
- [Individual Channel Control] Gaming audio mixer for one mic recording with smooth volume slider fader take your streaming recording to a whole new level with full pleasure. Four independent channels set on the DJ mixer give audio volume of the MICROPHONE, LINE IN, HEADPHONE, and LINE OUT channels individual control. Configurable on the PC audio mixer instead of just operating on your game or streaming software.
- [Mute and Monitor] The front mute and monitor buttons but not at the back, make it easier to get the audio interface use. Ability to mute audio, the audio mixer for streaming prevents background noise from damaging your live broadcast. Real-time feedback between speaking and hearing will not distract your attention, which encourage you to speak more confidently. The sturdy-built control button allow you to operate freely and easily during live streaming.
- [Sound Effects] The computer sound mixer supports four pre-recorded customized button that can be recorded and activated at the press of button to post production. 6 kinds of voice changing modes change your output style. 12 auto tune changes the tone of your voice. The podcast mixer being able to add different and fun effects is a huge bonus for your streaming or game voice.
- [Controllable Vibrant RGB] RGB button on the audio mixer DJ meets different live streaming themes. Lights on the video mixer is vibrant but not harsh on your eyes. Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
4. Match the playlist bus to the stream mix
- In the Audio Mixer, check which bus or buses include the playlist. New inputs go to Master by default, according to vMix’s Output Audio Channels guide.
- Open Streaming Quality Settings and inspect the Channels selection. Choose a mix that contains the playlist’s bus. Master is the default mix sent to streaming; if your production uses an auxiliary bus, make sure that bus is included in the selected stream mix or route the playlist to an included mix.
- Confirm that the selected channel mix matches the playlist’s enabled audio route, then make a short test stream before relying on the change.
vMix describes Master as “the Master or Default audio mix” sent to Recording, Streaming, and External Output (vMix 29 Audio Mixer guide).
5. Test the outgoing stream before going public
Run a short test using the same playlist type and audio/video behavior as the intended broadcast. Listen to the stream output itself and check YouTube’s Live Control Room stream health; local Solo monitoring is not a substitute. YouTube recommends testing before a live stream and supports AAC or MP3 audio over RTMP/RTMPS. Its published stereo encoder guidance specifies 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 Kbps audio bitrate (YouTube encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions). Treat these as encoder settings to verify after routing, not as a remedy for a playlist sent to the wrong bus.

6. Check YouTube notices if vMix routing is correct
If the input meter moves, the stream mix includes the playlist, and YouTube still has no audible playlist audio—or the broadcast is interrupted—check YouTube Studio or the Live Control Room for content notices. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in another live broadcast. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder and lead to interruption or termination if the content remains. Licensed material may still require the rights owner to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Do not try to bypass detection; use material you are authorized to stream and resolve any notice through the appropriate rights process. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
7. Separate weak or distorted audio from a silent playlist
If vMix’s recording sounds normal but the YouTube stream sounds weak or distorted—particularly on a single-speaker mobile device—the symptom may involve balanced microphone signals connected to an unbalanced computer input and cancelling when summed. vMix’s support article for this specific issue suggests a proper computer audio interface that supports XLR, or a temporary Separate Mono adjustment. This is a conditional hardware branch for that microphone symptom, not a general fix for a silent playlist or incorrect bus selection. The article was last updated March 16, 2023: vMix: Facebook / YouTube stream audio very low, muted or missing.
