IBM Video Streaming can loop prerecorded videos in a scheduled Live Playlist on an IBM channel, but the official documentation reviewed does not confirm that the playlist can send its output directly to YouTube. For YouTube, use YouTube’s documented encoder workflow: connect an encoder to your YouTube stream URL and stream key. That is a separate setup, and it does not establish that IBM’s playlist feature can serve as the encoder.

What IBM’s Live Playlist looping does

IBM’s loop setting applies to a Live Playlist broadcast on IBM Video Streaming. When looping is enabled, the playlist starts its videos again and continues until the configured loop stop time. IBM describes this as simulated-live programming: the video is prerecorded, while the event is presented as live. Chat and Q&A can remain live during the event.

To set up that IBM-only workflow, create and schedule a manual Live Playlist, enable looping, and set the stop time. See IBM’s Overview of Playlists – IBM Video Streaming for playlist behavior and IBM’s Live Playlist best practices for prerequisites.

Check the prerequisites

  • Before creating a first Live Playlist, the channel must complete a true live broadcast from an encoder or streaming app lasting more than two minutes.
  • Every video added to a Live Playlist must be longer than two minutes.

Can that IBM loop appear on YouTube?

The reviewed IBM documentation describes playlists on IBM Video Streaming; it does not confirm a direct output from an IBM Live Playlist to YouTube. Do not treat IBM’s playlist embed instructions as a way to send the stream into YouTube: embedding puts an IBM player on an external website, not an IBM feed into YouTube. IBM’s website embedding guidance explains that separate use.

YouTube documents a different route: create a YouTube live stream, then connect an encoder by entering the stream URL and stream key in that encoder. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions. This is YouTube’s general ingestion workflow; it does not identify a specific encoder or confirm IBM Live Playlist compatibility. The documentation reviewed also does not establish whether an IBM plan, API, or third-party relay can bridge the services. If direct IBM-to-YouTube delivery is essential, verify current account options with IBM rather than assuming it is supported or impossible.

Before sending prerecorded video to YouTube Live

  • Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s setup guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days. See YouTube live streaming tips.
  • Confirm rights. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions require the provider to have the rights needed to exploit live content, including music rights. Check both the video and its audio before streaming.
  • Keep the two workflows distinct. IBM looping is documented for an IBM Video Streaming channel; YouTube’s documented setup uses an encoder connected to YouTube. A YouTube stream key alone does not establish that IBM can deliver its playlist to YouTube.
