YouTube’s scheduling workflow does not by itself create a recurring, automatically running 24/7 program.
Which time zone should an Indian channel use?
Use one national reference: IST (UTC+05:30). The Government of India’s Department of Consumer Affairs describes IST as based on UTC with a +5:30-hour offset and maintained by CSIR-National Physical Laboratory in its 2025 announcement. There are no separate Indian regional time zones to use when announcing a schedule.
State the date, time, and zone together—for example, “Starts 12 October at 8:00 PM IST (UTC+05:30).” This avoids ambiguity for viewers outside India and helps prevent confusion between an event’s date in India and the date elsewhere.
A Department of Consumer Affairs release dated 30 August 2026 says notified IST rules are to take effect 180 days after publication in the Official Gazette; the announcement alone does not establish that the rules are already in force. See the Department’s announcement for its status and details.

Schedule the upcoming YouTube live event
YouTube’s Live Control Room lets you create an upcoming event and share its watch page in advance. Scheduling the event and operating a continuous radio-style broadcast are related but separate tasks.
- Open the scheduling workflow. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live → Manage → Schedule stream. Choose to create a new stream or reuse settings from a previous one.
- Enter the event details. Add the title, description, visibility, and other metadata. Set the scheduled date and time, and make the time zone clear to viewers by including IST (UTC+05:30) in the description or promotional copy.
- Share the upcoming watch page if you want to promote the event. Viewers may be able to select Notify me on the scheduled stream page to receive a reminder. YouTube’s interface and instructions can change; consult its encoder streaming guide and live-stream settings help for current details.
- Copy the stream URL and key into your encoder. The encoder sends the actual audio/video feed to YouTube. Treat the stream key as a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Connect before the scheduled start. YouTube recommends preparing the encoder at least two hours in advance and starting it at least 15 minutes before the event. Check the Live Control Room preview, confirm the correct program is being sent, and select Go live when ready. Follow YouTube’s streaming tips for its current operating guidance.
Plan the 24/7 operation separately
A scheduled watch page does not guarantee that the program will play continuously. For a 24/7 radio-style stream, decide who or what will feed video and audio to YouTube, how a dropped connection will be restarted, and what viewers will see during any handoff. YouTube’s encoder workflow tells creators to start the encoder and then go live; it does not establish a recurring schedule that runs forever or guarantee automatic reconnection.

- Cloud playout: A service may handle playback and reconnection in the cloud, but verify its current YouTube compatibility, recovery behavior, monitoring, and archive controls before relying on it.
Whichever approach you use, document who checks the broadcast, how a failure is detected and recovered, and whether the transition is visible to viewers. YouTube advises testing backup-encoder failover and monitoring stream quality; these are preparation recommendations, not uptime guarantees.
Protect replays from the 12-hour archive limitation
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a live stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not assume a continuous 24-hour broadcast will become a complete replay. See YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.

Use local recordings if preserving the full program matters, and check that archive files are growing as expected. YouTube’s recommendations include verifying local archive growth and monitoring quality; neither automatic archiving nor monitoring substitutes for maintaining your own copy.
