Listen to the file across several repeats, watch OBS’s audio meter at the transition, then check YouTube stream health if OBS continues receiving audio. Each check points to a different fix; no single setting is known to prevent every fireplace-loop gap.
1. Check whether the audio file itself has a gap
Play the exported ambience file locally through several end-to-start transitions. Listen to the audio, not just the video: a visually seamless fireplace scene does not prove that its sound loops continuously.
If the pause recurs at the same point in the file, edit the boundary or prepare a version with a smoother transition. A crossfade is one possible editing approach, but there is no universally correct duration established for this problem. Export the revised file and audition multiple repeats before using it in the stream.
2. Check the playback source and OBS meter
If the local file sounds continuous, play it through the same source and configuration used for streaming. In OBS, watch the relevant audio meter as playback reaches the end of one pass and starts the next. OBS explains that a missing input indicator means no audio is being sent to OBS; possible explanations include waiting for file playback or a disconnected audio interface. - The meter drops at the transition: Check the media source’s repeat behavior and playback state, then confirm that the source is still sending audio to OBS.
- The meter stays active: That confirms signal is reaching OBS, but does not prove the transition sounds natural. Listen to the actual output and continue to the platform check if viewers still report silence.
3. Check YouTube stream health and audio configuration
If OBS continues to show audio but the stream has an audio problem, review YouTube’s stream health and ingest configuration. The YouTube Live Streaming API documents issue codes for no audio stream, unsupported audio codec, sample-rate mismatch, and multiple audio streams. YouTube Live Streaming API: LiveStreams
Match your audio settings to the actual ingest protocol and YouTube’s current requirements. For YouTube HLS specifically, YouTube lists AAC, AC3, and EAC3 as audio codec options and recommends 44.1 kHz for stereo or 48 kHz for 5.1 audio. These are HLS-specific details, not universal settings for every YouTube streaming method. YouTube Help: Set up an HLS stream

4. Treat HLS settings as delivery settings, not a loop repair
HLS divides a live stream into media segments and uses a playlist to order them for delivery. YouTube’s HLS guidance specifies segment durations of 1 to 4 seconds and no more than 5 outstanding segments in a rolling playlist. Those values concern HLS delivery and compatibility; they do not make a silent boundary in an audio file seamless. Do not copy HLS-specific settings into a different ingest protocol. If your stream is using HLS, confirm its settings against YouTube’s current requirements while continuing to diagnose the source file and playback path separately.
