You still need an eligible YouTube channel and a stream URL and key. The practical setup is to create the stream in YouTube Studio, connect those credentials in the cloud service, then test the feed in Live Control Room.
What a cloud dashboard does
A cloud streaming service takes the role of the encoder. Instead of encoding and sending video from your own PC, it plays the video in its cloud environment and sends a live feed to YouTube. YouTube still receives the feed as a live stream, so you need a stream configuration and the credentials that connect the service to your channel. YouTube’s encoder guide lists cloud-based tools for continuous prerecorded video and says a dedicated PC is not required.
This approach is for prerecorded video, including a video loop or playlist. It is not the same as broadcasting a live camera feed from your home or studio.
Before you start: check YouTube eligibility
YouTube’s current guidance requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the person streaming must be at least 16. First-time live-streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before you plan to launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.

- Confirm live streaming is enabled for the channel well ahead of the planned start.
- Have the prerecorded video files ready and check that you have the rights to stream their video and audio.
- Choose a cloud service that explicitly supports looping prerecorded video and continuous operation.
- Check that the service supports an ingest protocol and output configuration compatible with your YouTube stream.
Choose a cloud service

YouTube’s encoder guide also names Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming. Treat any provider listing as a starting point, not confirmation of current features, limits, pricing, availability, or service guarantees. YouTube also lists AWS Elemental MediaLive as a broadcast-grade processing service; that listing does not establish that it is a turnkey dashboard for looping prerecorded videos.

Before choosing a service, check the details that determine whether it fits your stream:
- Does it loop uploaded videos or playlists continuously?
- Which YouTube ingest protocols and output settings does it support?
- How does it handle interruptions, restarts, alerts, and monitoring?
- How much video storage is included, and how does upload work?
- Is the service available in your region, and what current limits apply?
- What does it cost, and does the provider publish an uptime commitment?
Set up the YouTube live stream
- Open YouTube Studio. Go to the Live Control Room and create a new stream or select an existing one. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions show how to use the stream URL and stream key with an encoder.
- Locate the server URL and stream key. The server URL tells the encoder where to send the feed; the key identifies the stream. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Keep them private: do not put them on a public page or in a screenshot you share.
- Keep the stream key secure. If someone else may have seen or obtained it, reset it in Live Control Room. Update the cloud dashboard with the replacement key; the old key will no longer be the credential to use.
Connect the cloud dashboard and start the feed
- Upload or select your video. In the provider dashboard, upload the prerecorded video or build the playlist you want it to loop. Check the ordering and playback behavior before going live.
- Enter YouTube’s connection details. Add the YouTube server URL and stream key in the dashboard’s encoder or destination settings, or select a YouTube preset if the service provides one.
- Match the protocol. Confirm that the cloud service’s output protocol is supported by the YouTube stream configuration. YouTube documents RTMPS and HLS ingestion. RTMPS is RTMP protected by TLS/SSL, which encrypts the connection in transit. HLS can be used for HDR or codecs unsupported by RTMP, but YouTube notes that its segmented delivery has higher latency. The provider and the YouTube stream must be configured to use a compatible option.
- Start the cloud feed. Start the stream from the provider’s dashboard. Wait for the incoming feed to appear in Live Control Room before treating it as ready for viewers.
- Preview and verify. Check that the picture and audio play as expected, confirm the watch page is accessible to the intended audience, and monitor the feed after it starts. YouTube advises testing in advance and checking stream quality, accessibility, and archive files.
Plan for a 24/7 broadcast’s limits
A continuous live feed is not automatically a dependable full-length replay. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its DVR guidance warns that rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Do not rely on one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast to create a complete archive or provide viewers with unrestricted rewind. Check YouTube’s current archive behavior and decide whether your replay needs call for a different recording or publishing plan.

Also decide how the cloud provider should handle looping, an interrupted connection, automatic recovery, scheduled restarts, monitoring, and alerts. These behaviors vary by provider; confirm them directly rather than assuming all cloud dashboards work the same way.
Troubleshooting
