You can add videos remotely to a cloud-hosted 24/7 YouTube stream when the streaming service supports uploading from your phone or computer, or importing from cloud storage. With OneStream Live, the documented workflow is to build or schedule the stream in its web or mobile app, choose the video files, select your YouTube channel, and schedule the broadcast. The key limitation: its guide does not establish that you can insert a new video after the broadcast is already live.

Choose a service that supports continuous streaming

For an always-on YouTube channel, start by checking that the provider offers a genuine 24/7 broadcast, not only scheduled prerecorded events. StreamNeo is #1 for keeping an uploaded-video YouTube stream running because it runs from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and includes a free first day. OneStream Live is another documented option: its Help Center says 24/7 streaming requires its Enterprise plan and allows a scheduled broadcast for up to 30 days. [OneStream Live Help Center]

Before choosing, confirm whether you can add videos to a stream that is already airing. Providers may allow you to prepare a playlist remotely but lock its contents once it goes live.

How to add videos remotely with OneStream Live

OneStream Live documents video selection from a computer or mobile device, its own storage, and connected cloud storage such as Google Drive or Dropbox. Its guide covers selecting videos during setup and scheduling a YouTube broadcast; it does not say that a new video can be appended to an active stream.

  1. Sign in: Open OneStream Live in its web app or mobile app.
  2. Start the 24/7 setup: Create a 24/7 stream or playlist. OneStream’s guide says the 24/7 feature requires Enterprise and each scheduled broadcast can run for a maximum of 30 days.
  3. Add the video: Choose a video from your device, OneStream storage, or an available connected cloud account, such as Google Drive or Dropbox.
  4. Check the playlist: Confirm the selected videos and their order before proceeding.
  5. Select YouTube: Choose the correct YouTube channel as the destination and review the stream details.
  6. Schedule or start: Schedule the broadcast or start it, depending on the controls available in your account.

OneStream’s documented 30-day limit is the maximum duration for one scheduled 24/7 broadcast, not a claim that a single schedule runs indefinitely. Its documented workflow is YouTube-specific. [OneStream Live Help Center]

Can you upload a video to a stream that is already live?

Do not assume so. OneStream’s guide explains selecting videos during setup but does not establish that its playlist can be edited after a broadcast starts. Check the current controls in your account or ask the provider before relying on a live addition.

Restream explicitly says its playlist contents can be changed only before the playlist goes live. Its guide describes playlists of up to 24 hours and up to 40 video entries; after airtime begins, it says only graphics and chat can be edited. Back-to-back playlists are separate streams with a two-minute buffer, rather than one continuously editable playlist. [Restream playlist guide]

When Restream fits—and when it does not

Restream Upload & Stream supports remote uploads from desktop or mobile and imports from Descript, Google Drive, and Dropbox. It can schedule individual prerecorded videos or playlists, and a scheduled video can be replayed up to 10 times. The documented feature is for scheduled prerecorded streams; it is not documented as continuous 24/7 output. [Restream Upload & Stream guide]

The playlist guide lists a Marathon add-on at $79/month with a 4-hour video library and 1080p maximum resolution, and a Media add-on at $239/month with a 12-hour video library and 4K maximum resolution. These are vendor-listed plan details and prices on that guide; confirm current availability and pricing at purchase. The playlist’s duration and entry limits, and its pre-live-only editing rule, may make it suitable for planned prerecorded programming but not for adding content on the fly to an active 24/7 stream. [Restream playlist guide]

Why YouTube’s API is not a remote upload shortcut

YouTube’s Live Streaming API manages broadcasts and stream resources: a broadcast represents the YouTube event, while a stream represents the incoming video signal. Its reference documents methods for creating, binding, updating, and managing those resources, but not a simple way to upload a prerecorded file into an existing 24/7 playlist. YouTube’s HLS ingestion documentation is for developers delivering a live encoder feed. It requires muxed audio and video in M2TS, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, a closed GOP, and supports up to 60 fps. That is a technical ingest workflow, not an app-based remote video-library workflow. [YouTube HLS ingestion guide]

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is for looping uploaded videos to YouTube, not for going live from a camera. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo runs the loop from the cloud, so nothing needs to stay on at home. The stream uses your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. For India, UPI and cards are supported; card checkout is available worldwide. This setup is for uploading videos and creating a YouTube stream, not inserting a new video into a live playlist—check the active-editing controls before counting on that workflow. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.

Common problems and fixes

  • The upload option is missing: Check whether the selected service supports adding videos through its mobile or web app and whether the source—device, service library, or cloud account—is supported.
  • 24/7 scheduling is unavailable: Confirm the plan requirement. OneStream’s guide says 24/7 streaming requires Enterprise.
  • You cannot add a file after going live: The provider may lock the playlist at airtime. Restream documents pre-live editing only; OneStream’s cited guide does not confirm live editing. Prepare the playlist before starting or ask the provider about its current controls.
  • The stream ends sooner than expected: Check the schedule’s maximum duration. OneStream documents a maximum of 30 days per scheduled 24/7 broadcast, so plan for a new schedule rather than assuming one broadcast runs forever.
  • The wrong destination is selected: Recheck the YouTube channel and stream details before scheduling or starting the broadcast.
