Use two YouTube Studio reports, depending on what you want to measure: the channel-level Subscribers report shows gains attributed to the Live content type over a selected period; an individual stream’s post-stream analytics shows its New Subscribers snapshot after the stream ends. The first is a period total by content type; the second counts users who subscribed during one stream. Neither, by itself, proves that the stream caused net channel growth.
Choose the right subscriber-growth measure

YouTube defines New Subscribers as users who subscribed during the stream; its definition does not say whether unsubscribes during that period are subtracted. Treat it as a gross gain, not a net-growth figure. See YouTube Help’s live stream metrics guidance.
Find subscribers gained by live content in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Analytics for your channel.
- Open the Content view and find the Subscribers report. Review the Live content-type row or category for the date range you want. YouTube lists live streams alongside other content types in its content performance reporting.
- Set and record the reporting period. Make sure it covers the dates you intend to evaluate. Note the exact range and the Live category’s reported figure.
- Keep the scope in mind. This is a channel-level total by content type for that period. It does not establish how many subscribers a particular individual stream generated.
YouTube Studio’s layout can vary: YouTube says its updated Studio experience began rolling out gradually in July 2026. If a tab or report appears in a different place, use the Analytics content and subscriber reporting options available in your account rather than assuming every channel sees identical menu placement. Find subscribers for one ended stream
- Wait until the broadcast has ended. YouTube documents New Subscribers as a post-stream measure, so do not assume a final individual-stream snapshot is available while a 24/7 stream is still running.
- Open the stream’s analytics in YouTube Studio. Select the ended live stream and review its post-stream analytics.
- Record the metric as labeled. Note the New Subscribers value, the stream it belongs to, and when you checked it. YouTube describes this as users who subscribed during the stream, not net channel growth.
For exact interface steps and the other live metrics available, consult YouTube’s See your live stream’s metrics page. Reports may take time to process, and availability or presentation can vary; avoid presenting a snapshot as a guaranteed real-time count.

Separate stream gains from net channel growth
For a defensible growth report, keep the stream’s gross subscriber gains and the channel’s total change as separate numbers. Choose the same clearly stated evaluation window, record each figure’s source and label, and explain that the channel total can reflect other videos, Shorts, posts, or activity beyond the stream. The official New Subscribers definition does not specify whether unsubscribes are netted into that figure.
For example, report that an ended stream’s New Subscribers snapshot recorded a given number of users subscribing during that broadcast, then separately state the channel’s subscriber-count change over the chosen dates. Do not call the stream’s figure “net subscribers” or treat the difference between the two measures as proof of attribution.

Add context without claiming causation
Subscriber figures are easier to interpret alongside exposure and engagement. Where available, review these measures for the same stream or period:
- Views and impressions: indicators of exposure. Impressions and click-through rate can help show how often viewers encountered and selected the stream.
- Average view duration and watch time: indicators of how long people watched.
- Concurrent viewers: the number watching simultaneously; live reporting can include average and peak concurrent viewers.
- Traffic sources: how viewers found the stream, such as browse, search, suggested videos, direct or unknown, and channel pages.

Make comparisons reproducible
- Compare like with like. Compare live streams with other live streams; audience behavior can differ across videos, Shorts, and other formats.
- Use consistent date windows. Keep the period, stream duration, and any live-only versus live-and-on-demand filters consistent when Studio offers them.
- Preserve scope and labels. Mark whether each result is the channel-level Live total, an ended stream’s New Subscribers snapshot, or a separate channel-count change.
- Save the report setup. YouTube Analytics Advanced Mode supports expanded reports, comparisons, and exports. Record the report, filters, and date range so you can reproduce the comparison later.
YouTube’s reporting tools document metrics and comparisons, not causal attribution. A rise in subscribers during a stream is evidence of timing and recorded gains, not proof that the broadcast alone produced those gains. See YouTube Analytics help for Analytics and Advanced Mode information.
