You do not add UPI details in YouTube Studio to receive or enable Super Chat. Creators turn Super Chat on in YouTube Studio; viewers choose a payment method during checkout. UPI is listed among Google Play payment methods in India, and some new Super Chat purchases in the Android app are billed through Google Play, but YouTube’s help pages do not guarantee UPI will appear for every one-time Super Chat purchase. Check the options shown in your own checkout before confirming.
Creator setup: turn on Super Chat in YouTube Studio
Super Chat activation is a channel setting, not a place to enter the creator’s UPI ID or bank details. The creator must be eligible, and the Supers tab appears only for eligible channels.
- On a computer, sign in to the channel’s YouTube Studio.
- Open Earn > Supers. YouTube’s mobile Studio instructions also direct creators to Earn > Supers.
- Select Get started and follow the setup instructions. On first use, YouTube may ask you to accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM).
- After setup, switch Super Chat on.
See YouTube’s instructions for turning Super Chat and Super Stickers on or off. YouTube’s eligibility overview says creators must meet the applicable feature requirements, be at least 18, live in a location where the feature is available, and accept the Commerce Product Module or the formerly available Commerce Product Addendum. Check the channel’s current Earn tab and YouTube monetization eligibility information, since requirements can change. India is on YouTube’s viewer availability list.
Viewer setup: choose a payment method when buying
There is no separate Super Chat UPI setup screen to complete in advance. Choose a method from the options presented for the specific purchase.

- Open a live stream or Premiere that has live chat, then select the dollar-sign purchase control.
- Choose Super Chat, select an amount, and optionally write a message.
- Continue to checkout and inspect the payment method shown before confirming.
- If you are buying in the YouTube Android app and the transaction is billed through Google Play, review or add an available payment method on the Google account being used.
Google Play’s India payment-method page lists UPI, specifically noting its use for subscriptions. YouTube says some new Super Chat purchases in the Android app are billed through Google Play. Those statements do not establish that UPI is available for every one-time Super Chat transaction. Availability can depend on the checkout route and account, so rely on the payment choices actually displayed. Why UPI may not appear
- The checkout route may differ. YouTube’s Google Play billing note applies to some new purchases in the Android app; it should not be assumed to apply to every device, account, or purchase route.
- Check the signed-in account. Confirm the Google account and payment profile in use, and review the methods available on that Google Play account.
- Check the actual purchase screen. The official help pages do not promise UPI for every one-time Super Chat checkout. If it is not among the displayed methods, the reviewed documentation does not identify a Super Chat-specific setting that will make it appear.
- Use Google Play’s current help for account or payment problems. Do not try to add a UPI ID in YouTube Studio; creator Super Chat settings are separate from a viewer’s checkout. Do not use another person’s payment credentials as a workaround.
