To check whether a YouTube 24/7 stream is stable on Indian mobile data, watch that stream on the phone and SIM you plan to use, then repeat network tests at the same location at different relevant times. Note buffering and quality changes as well as download speed, latency, packet loss, and jitter. One speed test—or a good signal indicator—cannot certify that playback will stay continuous all day.
Test playback on the connection that matters
- Use the actual phone and SIM. Open the YouTube 24/7 stream on mobile data where you expect to watch it. Avoid relying only on a test over Wi-Fi or on another device.
- Observe playback, not just the connection indicator. Record the time and a general description of the location if useful. Note whether playback continues, buffers, pauses, or changes quality. A short uninterrupted sample is evidence about that interval, not proof of all-day stability.
- Repeat at relevant times. Try again during the hours when you expect to watch. Conditions can vary by time and place, so keep observations separate rather than treating one result as representative of every hour.
YouTube’s viewer troubleshooting guidance recommends trying a different connection and manually adjusting playback quality when a video buffers. If playback struggles on mobile data, try a lower quality setting, then compare with Wi-Fi or another available connection. If the problem follows the mobile connection but not the comparison connection, that is useful diagnostic evidence; it does not by itself identify the cause.
YouTube’s mobile-streaming guidance says: “For streaming with your mobile check that you have a good connection and try to stay in areas with a strong signal.” This is practical guidance, not a guarantee that signal bars measure usable throughput or that a strong-looking signal prevents buffering. Congestion and network sharing can also affect performance.
Measure the mobile network with TRAI MySpeed

- Run a MySpeed test on the same phone and mobile connection used for YouTube.
- Record the test time and location at a level you are comfortable retaining.
- Note download speed, latency, packet loss, and jitter. Run the video test as an additional usage-oriented check if available.
- Repeat tests at different relevant hours. Continuous or scheduled tests and the history can help show variation that a single snapshot misses.
- Compare each test period with your playback notes: did YouTube buffer or lower quality at the same time?
A test reflects conditions where and when it ran. The Government of India Press Information Bureau announcement dated 13 February 2026 describes the revamped MySpeed app and its features; it does not establish a universal success rate or certify that a specific operator, handset, place, or plan can sustain a particular stream.
Compare SIMs or networks fairly
If you have more than one network available, keep the comparison as consistent as practical: use the same phone, location, YouTube stream, playback-quality setting, and approximate time window. Repeat the comparison rather than relying on a single run.
- Compare repeated download speed, latency, packet loss, and jitter.
- Include MySpeed’s video-test behaviour if you use that test.
- Record actual YouTube buffering and quality changes separately from test scores.
- Keep results grouped by location and time; a result in one place or hour does not establish performance elsewhere or later.
This method can help you identify which connection behaves better in the conditions you checked. It is not a ranking of Indian providers, and it cannot guarantee future playback.

Do not confuse viewer playback with creator stream health
Viewer stability is whether the video plays continuously on your device over your download connection. Creator-side stream health is whether YouTube is receiving the broadcaster’s outgoing stream. YouTube Live Control Room reports stream health and timestamped errors for the incoming broadcast; it does not measure the reliability of your individual mobile connection.

Those clues help a broadcaster investigate, but they do not prove what is wrong with a particular viewer’s phone or network.
Likewise, YouTube’s encoder bitrate table is for the creator sending a stream, not a universal viewer download threshold. For example, YouTube lists 720p at 30 fps as 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended for H.264 encoder settings. Those figures describe creator-side ingestion recommendations; do not use them as a pass/fail rule for whether your mobile data can play a 24/7 stream.

Understand buffering, latency, and data use
Buffering is not the same as broadcast delay
Buffering interrupts playback. Stream latency is the delay between capture and display. YouTube notes that lower stream latency can mean more playback buffering, so a stream being behind the live event does not on its own show that your mobile connection is unstable.
There is no universal speed threshold for this check
No official source cited here publishes one national figure that can certify every Indian operator, handset, location, plan, or 24/7 stream. The stream’s playback quality and changing network conditions matter, which is why direct viewing and repeated tests are more useful than declaring a single speed number “stable.”
Plan for data use cautiously
YouTube Help gives about 10 MB of data per minute as a rule of thumb for mobile live streaming. It is not a guaranteed figure for every viewer, quality setting, or full-day viewing session. Check your own data usage while observing the stream and your plan’s allowance before leaving a 24/7 stream playing for long periods.

When you are also the broadcaster
Keep a viewer-side test separate from a creator-side test. A broadcaster can inspect YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health and timestamped error messages to check what YouTube is receiving. YouTube also advises creators to test their audio, video, and equipment with an unlisted live stream; that checks creator setup, not a viewer’s mobile coverage. Encoder upload guidance concerns the feed being sent to YouTube and should not be substituted for a viewer download requirement.
