To stream multiple podcast episodes as one continuous YouTube broadcast, create or schedule one live event in YouTube Studio, then send it a single, ordered program feed from an encoder or production system. YouTube accepts the encoder’s feed; its documented workflow does not provide an automatic podcast-episode queue. Prepare and test the episode sequence in the tool that will produce the feed before relying on it for an unattended or long-running show.
What you need for a continuous podcast broadcast
The broadcast is one YouTube live event, while the encoder or production system supplies the program viewers hear and see. Arrange the episode files, transitions, breaks, and any other material in that system so it outputs them in the intended order. YouTube’s encoder guidance covers ingesting a feed, not automatic episode sequencing, so confirm that your chosen tool supports the playback, handoffs, and runtime you need.
- A YouTube channel eligible for live streaming: YouTube says the channel must be verified and have no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- An encoder or production system that can send a composed feed to YouTube and, if needed, play the episodes in sequence without intervention.
- The event’s stream URL and private stream key from YouTube Studio.
- Enough upload capacity for the outgoing stream, with room for other network use and any backup feed.
- A rehearsal plan and a separate local recording if preserving the entire program is important.
A microphone, mixer, camera, or other audio and video hardware is optional for a prerecorded episode feed. If you use hardware, connect and configure it through the encoder and check compatibility with that setup.
Prepare and test the episode sequence
- Arrange the podcast episodes in the production system that will actually send the feed. Add transitions, interstitials, and breaks there rather than assuming YouTube will join separate episode files for you.
- Check how the system handles the end of each file, playback order, gaps, and the final item. Confirm with the encoder vendor that unattended playback and the planned runtime are supported.
- Run a private or unlisted rehearsal with representative audio and motion. Verify the episode handoff, audio levels, any overlays, and that the feed continues as intended.
- If the complete show must be retained, record a local copy and confirm that the recording is being written during the rehearsal.
This sequence is an implementation approach based on YouTube’s encoder model, not a YouTube playlist feature. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not identify a particular third-party encoder as suitable for reliable unattended episode chaining.

Create or schedule the YouTube live event
- In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live to enter the Live Control Room.
- Create a stream or schedule one in advance. Scheduling can show viewers an upcoming event and let them opt in to a notification.
- Set the title, description, visibility, and other event details for this broadcast.
- If you reuse a previous stream’s settings, inspect them before proceeding: reused settings can carry over metadata, settings, and the stream key.
- Confirm the channel is eligible to stream before building the broadcast plan around the event.
Connect the encoder and configure the feed
- In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder.
- Treat the stream key as a credential. Do not share it publicly; reset it if you believe it has been exposed.
- Choose a supported ingest protocol and encoding setup in both the encoder and YouTube’s stream settings. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion.
- Use YouTube’s current encoder-settings guidance for the resolution and frame rate you select. Do not copy a generic bitrate without checking the chosen format and your available upload bandwidth.
- Configure any microphones, mixer, camera, or other hardware through the encoder, then confirm the resulting feed sounds and looks as intended.
For an optional simultaneous horizontal and vertical live format, configure it in Live Control Room and test the vertical crop or layout. YouTube lists differences in discovery and some features between the formats, so check its current overview before enabling it for a podcast with important framing or overlays.
Rehearse, start, and monitor the broadcast
- Set up the encoder at least two hours before the scheduled event, as YouTube recommends.
- Start sending the stream at least 15 minutes before the event and check the Live Control Room preview before starting the live event.
- Check stream health and messages in Live Control Room. Confirm the audio, picture, episode order, and watch page on a mobile device.
- Keep an eye on local recording files if you are making a backup copy.
- If you use a backup encoder or feed, test failover beforehand. YouTube describes testing by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable, then checking that playback rolls over.
YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload headroom. The total bitrate of all outgoing feeds must fit within available upload bandwidth; if you send primary and backup feeds, budget for both streams plus headroom. Shared network use can reduce the capacity available to the broadcast.

The perfect combination of performance, power consumption, and value helps your device handle multitasking smoothly and reliably with four processing cores to divide up the work.
Choose viewer and end-of-stream settings
- DVR: When enabled, viewers can pause and rewind during the live stream, then resume. It can help listeners who join late or need to step away.
- Latency: Lower latency can increase playback buffering. For a mostly prerecorded feed without live audience interaction, minimum latency may be less useful than steady playback; choose based on the viewing experience you want.
- Live Redirect: You can redirect viewers at the end to a Premiere or another live stream, subject to YouTube’s eligibility rules. The redirecting channel must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes; redirecting to another channel requires that channel’s permission. Check current eligibility in Studio.
- Monetization: YouTube lists ads and Super Chat, with memberships available to some channels. Access depends on channel eligibility and settings, so do not treat monetization as guaranteed.
End the event and preserve the full program
Stop sending content from the encoder to end the event. YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that a longer continuous show will be fully archived. If the complete program matters, keep a local recording and confirm YouTube’s current behavior before the broadcast.
Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the feed | The stream URL or key is missing, incorrect, or no longer the intended key. | Compare the encoder’s ingest details with Live Control Room. If a key may have been exposed, reset it and update the encoder. |
| The event starts, but episodes do not advance | The production system is not sequencing the files, or its playback has stopped. | Test file handoffs in the production system before going live, and verify its unattended playback and runtime support with the vendor. |
| Playback buffers or the stream health degrades | The outgoing bitrate exceeds available upload capacity, or other network use has consumed headroom. | Check the encoder’s current output settings against YouTube’s guidance, available upload capacity, and YouTube’s recommendation to reserve 20% headroom. Include backup feeds in the bandwidth budget. |
| The archive does not contain the whole show | The program exceeded the under-12-hour automatic-archive guidance. | Do not rely on that guidance for a longer event. Maintain a local recording and verify current platform behavior before streaming. |
| A reused event has the wrong details or key | Previous stream settings carried over. | Inspect the event metadata, visibility, settings, and stream key before starting. |
| A backup feed does not take over as expected | Failover has not been validated with the actual encoders and connection. | Rehearse by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable, then confirm playback rolls over. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded podcast episodes looping on YouTube without leaving a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
