You can run a continuous computer science lessons stream on YouTube from India by connecting a computer encoder such as OBS to YouTube Live Control Room—or by using a cloud service to loop uploaded lessons. For a local setup, you need an eligible channel, a computer and a reliable upload connection. Plan the lesson playlist, stream quality, rights and replay strategy before you leave a broadcast running unattended.
Before you start: check channel eligibility and prepare lessons
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the creator must be at least 16. First-time livestreaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned launch. See YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility requirements.
- Prepare original lesson recordings or confirm that you have the rights needed to stream every item in the playlist.
- Organize lessons by course, subject or topic so viewers can tell what is playing.
- For a channel seeking monetization, make the programming meaningfully educational and varied rather than a repetitive loop with little added value.
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams. Its July 15, 2025 policy update renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible. Reused material needs meaningful commentary, modification or educational value; copyright compliance is a separate requirement. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Choose how to keep the stream running
Run OBS on a computer you keep online
Use OBS or another encoder when you want to control screen sharing, narration or production locally. The computer and its internet connection must remain available for the broadcast, so this approach suits a dedicated streaming machine or a workflow with an operator who can monitor it. YouTube describes encoders as appropriate for screen sharing and advanced production, and lists OBS as free, open-source software. Its setup guidance is at YouTube’s encoder livestreaming guide.

Loop prerecorded lessons in the cloud
A cloud looping service can play uploaded videos or a playlist without requiring your home computer to stay online. YouTube’s encoder guide lists Gyre for continuous prerecorded streams; Gyre describes uploading videos, arranging a playlist, connecting a YouTube account and scheduling a loop. These are workflow descriptions, not independent guarantees of stream performance, reach or monetization.
Set up a local OBS broadcast
- Install OBS and prepare your scene. Add a display or window capture for code and slides, and check that any lesson audio is clear. An external microphone is optional if your existing audio is inadequate; YouTube lists one among typical streaming hardware.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, choose Create → Go live. Create a stream or schedule one, then open the Stream tab.
- Copy the server URL and stream key into OBS. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select the YouTube service if available, and enter the server URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room. YouTube calls a stream key like a password: share it only with trusted operators and reset it if exposed. See YouTube’s stream settings guidance.
- Use RTMPS when supported. It is RTMP over TLS/SSL and encrypts the connection to Google’s servers. Select the secure server option provided by YouTube and supported by your encoder.
- Choose a sustainable resolution and bitrate. Base the choice on measured upload speed, not the advertised download speed. YouTube recommends roughly 20% upload headroom above the total stream bitrate, including a backup feed if you configure one. As a reference, YouTube’s encoder settings table recommends 14 Mbps H.264 ingest for 1080p at 30 fps. If your connection cannot sustain that bitrate with headroom, use a lower resolution or bitrate. - Test before going live. Send a test with representative audio and movement, inspect the Live Control Room preview, and confirm the watch page works on a phone. Check sound, picture and stream health before committing to an unattended run.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. Start streaming from OBS and verify that Live Control Room receives the feed. A scheduled stream can appear in subscribers’ feeds as upcoming, where viewers may opt in for a notification. Reusable custom stream keys and encoder auto-start/auto-stop settings can reduce repeated setup, but test the workflow before relying on it unattended.
Plan around 24/7 playback, archives and watch hours
YouTube automatically archives streams that run for less than 12 hours. A single continuous 24/7 broadcast therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed complete replay. If you need saved lesson archives, plan breaks or separate broadcasts and verify the archive behavior in your chosen workflow.

YouTube’s August 12, 2026 explanation of qualified public watch hours says eligible hours must come from public long-form videos or archived livestreams; livestream hours that are not archived do not qualify. Copyright, livestream rules and monetization
YouTube scans livestreams for matches to third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the live stream with a placeholder; persistent third-party content can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Even licensed material may be interrupted unless the rights holder has allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- Livestreaming is not available yet: verify the channel, check for a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- OBS is not reaching YouTube: check that the server URL and stream key match the selected stream in Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and update OBS.
- The stream buffers or loses quality: measure upload capacity while the stream is active, preserve YouTube’s recommended headroom, and reduce resolution or bitrate if the connection cannot sustain the chosen settings.
- Video appears but lesson audio is unclear: test representative narration and playback before launch, check the encoder’s selected audio source, and use a suitable microphone if existing audio is not clear enough.
- A lesson stream is interrupted: check Live Control Room for stream health and potential copyright matches. Use content you have rights to stream; licensed third-party content may still need the rights holder to allowlist the channel in Content ID.
- The entire day’s broadcast is not available as a replay: a stream of 12 hours or more is not automatically archived under YouTube’s stated rule. Break the schedule into shorter broadcasts if archives matter, then verify that each replay is saved.
