To run NCERT lessons live on YouTube around the clock, enable live streaming on your channel, create a stream in YouTube Studio, send it through an encoder, and keep the encoder and internet connection operating continuously. Before broadcasting, confirm you have permission to rebroadcast every textbook page, video, image, recording, and other third-party item: public access to NCERT materials does not itself grant rebroadcast rights.

Before you start: check channel access and content rights

Enable YouTube live streaming in advance

YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned launch rather than on the day of the broadcast. YouTube’s live-streaming requirements describe the eligibility check.

Get permission for the material you plan to show

Do not assume that a freely accessible NCERT PDF or video is licensed for continuous rebroadcast on your channel. NCERT’s Digital Society and Netizen guidance says copyrighted material should not be used without permission from its creator or owner. NCERT’s copyright-infringement notice says unauthorized commercial publication of NCERT textbook content may lead to action under the Copyright Act 1957.

Check permission for the specific content, channel, territory, broadcast format, and any commercial use. This also applies to music, illustrations, photographs, narration, and clips from other sources. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; it may replace a feed with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even when you have a license, the rights holder may need to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Choose an encoder and plan for continuous operation

YouTube’s encoder workflow sends a digital video feed from software or a standalone hardware encoder to YouTube. Either can work; choose based on device compatibility, the quality you need, and whether the setup can run and be monitored continuously. The encoder, power, and internet connection must remain available for a 24/7 feed. YouTube’s help pages recommend monitoring stream quality but do not specify a universal 24/7 architecture or guarantee uptime.

  • Software encoder: Runs on a compatible computer. Confirm that the device can stay powered on and run your chosen streaming software without interruption.
  • Hardware encoder: A dedicated device may suit an installation built for continuous operation. Check its compatibility with your video sources and its recovery and monitoring options.
  • Network: Measure outbound upload capacity at the location and time the stream will run. YouTube recommends keeping streaming bitrate within available upload bandwidth and allowing 20% headroom. It warns that a connectivity disruption can break a stream. A wired Ethernet connection is a practical option if the encoder and router have compatible ports; choose a cable long enough for the installation.

For a continuously operating setup, decide who will notice a failure and how they will respond. If you use a backup encoder, test failover before launch rather than assuming it will take over correctly. YouTube’s streaming tips cover bandwidth, monitoring, and testing.

Create the stream in YouTube Studio

  1. Open Live Control Room: Sign in to YouTube Studio and open the Live Control Room. Create a stream or select the stream you intend to use. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions if you need the current Studio workflow.
  2. Copy the connection details: In the stream settings, copy the server URL and stream key shown for the stream. Enter them in the encoder’s corresponding fields. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who gets it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not publish it or share it unnecessarily. YouTube explains these settings in its live-stream settings guide.
  3. Configure the encoder: Select the video and audio sources, then set the output format and bitrate to match your content, encoder capabilities, and measured upload capacity. YouTube’s guidance is to keep the bitrate within available upload bandwidth and reserve 20% headroom; it does not establish one setting that suits every lesson stream. Use the encoder’s supported settings and check YouTube’s current recommendations for your chosen resolution and frame rate.
  4. Send a test feed: Start the encoder and wait for the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators. Check picture, sound, and moving video—not just a static title card. Resolve warnings before making the stream public.
  5. Publish and verify: Confirm the audience and visibility settings, then start the stream according to the Studio and encoder controls. Open the public watch page separately to confirm viewers can reach the feed and that the intended audio and video are playing.

Set viewer and start/stop behavior

In YouTube’s live-stream settings, choose latency and DVR behavior based on how viewers will use the lessons. DVR lets viewers pause and resume during a live stream; consider whether that is useful for a lesson feed that repeats continuously. YouTube also provides auto-start and auto-stop controls. Decide whether YouTube or the encoder should control the start and stop, then test the selected behavior before relying on it for an unattended schedule. The relevant controls are described in YouTube’s stream settings documentation.

Test, launch, and monitor the 24/7 feed

Run an end-to-end test

  • Confirm the channel is eligible and live streaming is enabled.
  • Check that the encoder is using the intended stream URL and private stream key.
  • Verify that the Live Control Room preview, audio, moving video, and public watch page all work.
  • Observe stream health and ensure the chosen bitrate leaves the recommended upload headroom.
  • Test backup failover if your installation uses a backup encoder.
  • Confirm that the planned material is cleared for rebroadcast and that any applicable Content ID allowlisting is in place.

Keep an operator and recovery plan

A 24/7 plan needs a way to detect and respond to a failed encoder, power loss, or connection interruption. Assign someone to monitor the stream and define what to check first when it drops: power and network access, encoder status, the stream key and URL, and Live Control Room stream health. YouTube’s guidance emphasizes monitoring and testing, but does not promise uninterrupted service or prescribe a universal recovery setup.

Troubleshoot common setup problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check
Live streaming is unavailable The channel is not verified, has a live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days, or first-time activation is still processing. Check channel eligibility and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
YouTube does not receive the encoder feed The encoder has an incorrect server URL or stream key, or the connection is interrupted. Compare the encoder entries with the stream’s settings in Live Control Room. Keep the key private; replace it if it may have been exposed.
Preview or stream health shows problems Upload capacity may be insufficient for the selected bitrate, or the network may be unstable. Measure outbound capacity, reduce the encoder bitrate if needed, retain YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and test the connection again.
The broadcast is interrupted or replaced A network or encoder failure may have stopped the feed; third-party content may also trigger YouTube’s live copyright enforcement. Check encoder and network status, then review YouTube’s notifications and copyright guidance. Confirm permissions and any required Content ID allowlisting.
Viewers cannot pause or resume as expected DVR may not be enabled or the selected live-stream behavior may not match the intended viewing experience. Review the stream’s DVR and latency settings, then test the viewer experience on the watch page.

Or let it run in the cloud

If maintaining an encoder and connection at home is impractical, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops the video in the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.

  • One flat price per slot for any quality up to 4K 60fps as uploaded; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding.
  • Automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free with no card required (one free day per account).
  • Monthly: $9.99 per month.

StreamNeo plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube; it does not broadcast from a camera. Rights still matter: only upload and stream material you are authorized to use.

NCERT resources are not rebroadcast permission

NCERT’s 2021–22 annual report describes e-Pathshala as a portal and app offering educational resources, including textbooks and audio-visual materials. It also records daily repeated PM eVIDYA telecasts. Those details can help educators discover learning resources, but they do not grant an independent YouTube channel permission to rebroadcast them. Confirm rights for the material you plan to use before scheduling a stream.
