You can’t set custom Super Chat amounts for Indian viewers as a creator. You can turn Super Chat on for an eligible channel, but each viewer chooses an amount in YouTube’s purchase screen. YouTube’s reviewed Help guidance does not publish an India-specific rupee price ladder or a minimum and maximum amount, so use the options shown in the live-chat purchase flow rather than relying on an assumed list.
Who sets the Super Chat amount?
The creator enables Supers for the channel; the viewer selects the amount when buying a Super Chat. YouTube’s viewer instructions describe choosing an amount by moving a slider or entering a desired value. The creator does not set individual viewer amounts in Studio.
Do not confuse Super Chat with channel memberships. Membership pricing is a separate product, and its price options do not establish Super Chat amounts.
How to turn on Super Chat in YouTube Studio
- Check eligibility first. The channel must meet YouTube’s requirements for the YouTube Partner Program, the creator must be at least 18, the creator must be in a location where Supers are available, and the applicable Commerce Product Module or legacy Commerce Product Addendum must be accepted. India is included in YouTube’s current availability list. See YouTube Help: Super Chat & Super Stickers eligibility, availability, and policies and YouTube Commerce Products monetization policies.
- Open the YouTube Studio mobile app. Tap Earn, then Supers.
- Start setup if prompted. If you see Get started in the Supers section, tap it, then tap Turn on. Follow the on-screen instructions. First-time setup may ask you to accept the Commerce Product Module.
- Use Supers on an eligible live stream or Premiere. Super Chat and Super Stickers are available on eligible live streams and Premieres when live chat is enabled. YouTube’s activation steps are in YouTube Help: Turn Super Chat & Super Stickers on or off.
What viewers in India do to choose an amount
- Open the eligible live stream and its live chat.
- Open the Super Chat purchase option in the chat interface.
- Choose an amount using the slider or enter a desired value if that option appears in the purchase flow.
- Add an optional message, review the purchase details, and submit.
The amount, available choices, and interface presented to an individual viewer should be checked in that viewer’s own purchase screen. YouTube’s reviewed official guidance does not state an India-specific INR ladder or a universal minimum or maximum, nor does it establish that every account or device shows identical choices. Why Super Chat may not appear
Channel eligibility alone does not guarantee that Supers will be available on every video. Check both the channel’s Supers setup and the specific stream’s settings and eligibility.
- The channel is not eligible or setup is incomplete: Review YouTube Partner Program and fan-funding requirements, confirm the creator meets the age and location criteria, and complete any pending Commerce Product terms.
- The stream is ineligible: Supers are not available on age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or YouTube Giving fundraiser videos.
- Live chat or comments are off: Super Chat and Super Stickers require live chat to be enabled; they are also unavailable when comments are turned off.
- The Supers card is missing: Check the channel’s eligibility and whether the video itself is eligible before treating it as an app problem. YouTube lists the restrictions in its eligibility and availability guidance.
What creators can manage after Supers are enabled
Creators can review recent Supers in YouTube Studio under Earn > Supers, view transaction information, and check Supers revenue reporting in YouTube Analytics. During a stream, the live-chat feed can be filtered for fan-funding activity; creators may acknowledge or heart purchases. These management tools do not let creators set each viewer’s amount. A Super Chat and its amount are publicly visible with the buyer’s channel name and profile picture. The purchase belongs to the live chat or video where it was made; it does not transfer to another video. These viewer-facing details are described in YouTube Help’s purchase instructions.
Revenue, donations, and viewer expectations
YouTube says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google, calculated after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees are deducted.
