Enable Super Chat in YouTube Studio → Earn → Supers: select Get started if it appears, complete the prompts, accept the Commerce Product Module if YouTube asks, then turn on Super Chat. You do not need a separate activation for a 24/7 broadcast. The Supers tab appears only for eligible channels.
Check channel eligibility first
Super Chat is a YouTube Partner Program (YPP) fan-funding feature. Before looking for its control, confirm that the channel meets YouTube’s requirements: the creator is at least 18, the channel is in YPP, Super Chat is available in the creator’s country or region, and the applicable terms have been accepted and followed. YouTube’s fan-funding policy explains these baseline requirements.
YouTube’s current monetization information lists expanded YPP entry thresholds of 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the past 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the past 365 days or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days. Super Chat is listed among features at that tier, but meeting the entry thresholds does not override feature-specific eligibility.
Turn on Super Chat in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio with the channel account.
- Open Earn, then select Supers. If the Supers tab is missing, check channel eligibility and the stream restrictions below.
- Select Get started if prompted and complete YouTube’s on-screen setup.
- Review and accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM) if YouTube presents it.
- Switch on Super Chat and save or confirm any requested changes.
YouTube’s Supers setup instructions describe this channel-level activation. They do not specify a separate Super Chat setup for a 24/7 stream.

Make sure the individual live stream can use Super Chat
Turning on the feature for the channel does not make it available on every broadcast. YouTube’s Supers eligibility guidance excludes streams or videos that are age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or YouTube Giving fundraisers. Live chat and comments must also be enabled; if either is turned off, Super Chat is unavailable.
- Set the stream’s visibility to Public if viewers should be able to find it and use Super Chat.
- Do not mark the stream as Made for Kids if it is not intended for children. Do not mislabel its audience to enable a feature.
- Check the stream’s age restriction and fundraiser status.
- Keep live chat and comments enabled, and verify chat is available on the actual live broadcast.
Does a 24/7 stream need an encoder?
No encoder is required to enable Super Chat in Studio. An encoder is one way to send a continuous broadcast to YouTube, not a prerequisite for the channel-level Supers switch. YouTube documents encoder-based streaming as well as mobile, webcam, and console options; the right method depends on how you produce and maintain the live video.

For an encoder broadcast, create or schedule the live stream in YouTube Studio, copy its stream URL and stream key into the encoder, and start sending the stream. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup guidance for the current workflow. Keep the stream key private: anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to the channel.
Plan for the replay archive separately
A continuous live stream should not be treated as a guaranteed full-length replay. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. How Supers revenue is calculated
YouTube says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google. The share is calculated after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees; YouTube says it currently covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees. This is YouTube’s stated revenue calculation, not a guarantee of what any particular stream or channel will earn. Details are in YouTube’s Supers revenue information.
