Yes. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams, and reused content can lead to monetization being removed from an entire channel. Streaming continuously for 24 hours a day is not, by itself, identified as an automatic violation. The key question is whether your channel makes your original contribution clear and whether reused material has been meaningfully transformed.
A stream may also avoid a copyright claim and still fail a reused-content review. Permission to use someone else’s work does not, on its own, establish that the channel qualifies for monetization.
What YouTube means by reused content
YouTube defines reused content as material already available on YouTube or another online source that is republished without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Its channel monetization policies cover live streaming as well as Shorts and long-form videos. YouTube’s channel monetization policies say reviewers may consider the channel as a whole, including its videos, titles, descriptions, and other elements.
If reviewers find policy-violating material—or cannot clearly tell who made the content—monetization may be removed from the entire channel, rather than only from the particular stream. That is a policy risk, not a prediction that any one channel will receive a specific decision.

Examples that may be eligible
YouTube gives examples of reused material that may be monetizable when it is transformed: clips used in critical reviews; reactions that comment on the original; footage edited into a storyline with commentary; and substantive editing that makes the result unique to the channel. The important distinction is the creator’s visible contribution, not simply whether the source material has been rearranged.
Examples that can be problematic
Show clips compiled with little or no narrative, short videos collected from social media, and other creators’ uploads reposted with minimal changes are among YouTube’s examples of content that may not qualify. A playlist or loop does not automatically transform its underlying material.

Does a 24/7 schedule itself violate the policy?
YouTube’s policy does not specify a maximum streaming duration or identify a 24/7 schedule as an automatic monetization violation. It also does not provide a special rule guaranteeing that continuous streams are safe. Reviewers assess the content and channel; duration alone cannot establish whether a particular channel will pass.
There is a related but separate policy issue. On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed its “repetitious content” policy to “inauthentic content,” clarifying that it covers repetitive or mass-produced material. YouTube said the change did not alter its reused-content policy for commentary, clips, compilations, and reaction videos. Depending on what a continuous stream contains, substantially repetitive or mass-produced material could raise an inauthentic-content concern as well as a reused-content concern. YouTube’s policy page and its July 2025 clarification describe those policy points.

Why permission and copyright clearance are not enough
Copyright enforcement and reused-content eligibility are separate. Permission from the original creator may address whether you have rights to use material, but YouTube says reused-content review can still apply even when the uploader has permission. A stream can therefore have no copyright claim and still fail monetization review if it lacks the original contribution or transformation YouTube expects.
Keep the questions separate: “Am I allowed to use this material?” concerns rights and copyright; “Does this channel meet monetization policies?” concerns YouTube’s review of the channel and its content.

What reviewers may consider on a channel
YouTube lists several signals reviewers may examine: the channel’s main theme, most-viewed and newest videos, the largest share of watch time, metadata such as titles and descriptions, and the About section. The list is not exhaustive. For a continuous stream, make authorship and meaningful original contribution apparent in the stream itself and in the channel context. A “24/7” label, a description, or a license alone does not settle the review.

- Does the stream use material already available on YouTube or elsewhere?
- Can viewers identify what you created or contributed while watching, rather than only reading a claim in the channel description?
- Does the stream add substantial original commentary, meaningful editing, a distinct narrative, or educational or entertainment value?
- Does the broader channel make authorship and meaningful variation clear, or does it look like minimally changed reposts or repetitive mass production?
- Have you considered rights clearance separately from YPP eligibility? Permission does not establish reused-content eligibility.
Monetization eligibility is separate from policy review
Watch Page ads and YouTube Premium revenue on live-streaming videos require the creator to be in the applicable YouTube Partner Program arrangement and to accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. Meeting those monetization requirements does not remove the need to comply with YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
