Yes. You can put videos about different subjects in one YouTube playlist and arrange their order. But the playlist is for organizing videos: adding videos to it does not, by itself, make YouTube broadcast them continuously as a 24/7 live stream. For that, you need a separate live-broadcast setup.
What a playlist does—and what it does not do
YouTube defines a playlist as a collection of videos and provides controls for adding videos and changing their order. Its playlist guidance does not set a rule that every video must cover the same subject. You can therefore group lessons in, for example, math, science, and history in one playlist if that suits your viewers. YouTube’s playlist guidance explains how to create and manage one.
A playlist is not, on its own, a 24/7 broadcast source. YouTube describes live streaming as sending a real-time feed to the service. Its official documentation treats playlist management and live streaming as separate functions; it does not establish that a playlist automatically rotates its videos into an ongoing live stream. YouTube’s live-streaming overview lists ways to start a live stream, while its encoder guidance covers sending a feed through an encoder.
How to organize subjects in one playlist
- Choose a structure. Use one playlist if viewers benefit from browsing all subjects together. If the subjects have distinct audiences or learning paths, separate playlists may make navigation clearer.
- Give it a specific title. Make clear that the playlist covers several subjects—for example, “Daily Lessons: Math, Science & History”—rather than implying it is a single-topic course.
- Add the videos and set their order. Group related lessons together or arrange them in the sequence viewers should follow. YouTube documents adding playlist videos and reordering them in its playlist instructions.
- Check the result as a viewer. Confirm the title and sequence make sense, and that each video belongs in the collection. A playlist can make mixed-subject content easier to browse, but it does not turn those videos into a live broadcast.
What you need for a continuous live stream
To keep a channel live, arrange a separate broadcast workflow that sends video to YouTube. YouTube lists mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming among its options; an encoder is one documented route for sending a prepared feed. Follow the current setup steps in YouTube’s encoder instructions and set up and check the stream in Live Control Room.

If you want recorded lessons to appear one after another in a continuous broadcast, that requires a production setup that feeds them to YouTube as a live stream. The official playlist and live-stream pages cited here do not confirm a native playlist-to-live rotation feature, nor do they specify 24/7 runtime guarantees. Check the documentation for the exact software or service you choose rather than assuming a YouTube playlist will keep the broadcast running.
Keep the subjects understandable on air
- Use clear titles and transitions so viewers know when the stream moves from one subject to another.
- Arrange the material in a deliberate order; a playlist’s ordering is an organizational choice, not a broadcast schedule.
- Monitor the actual stream’s audio and video. YouTube notes that network disruption can interrupt streaming and recommends having upload bandwidth headroom. Its streaming tips offer general guidance, not an uptime guarantee.
- Review copyright and other applicable YouTube rules for every video and audio track you broadcast. A playlist or continuous format does not itself establish that you have permission to use the material.
What happens to the live-stream archive?
YouTube says a live-stream archive is uploaded to the channel by default and recommends organizing the archive and highlight clips into playlists after the event. That is a useful way to group a completed broadcast with other lessons, but it is a post-stream organization step—not evidence that the playlist supplied the live feed. See YouTube’s guidance on promoting a live stream.
