Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallBuild a gaming VOD rerun channel by scheduling YouTube Live streams through an encoder, streaming game footage you have permission to use, keeping a local recording, and organizing the resulting archives into playlists. The setup is manageable; the harder parts are rights, archive reliability, and understanding that a rerun is not automatically eligible for monetization.
Plan the channel around rights, reliability, and original value
Before setting a schedule, decide what footage the channel will rerun, how often it will stream, and what viewers will get beyond an uninterrupted replay. A useful episode can include instructional commentary, context about a game or event, or meaningful editing and presentation. Simply rebroadcasting long gameplay sessions may not meet YouTube’s monetization standards.
Check game and recording rights
Review the current streaming and commercial-use terms for each game publisher. Then check the recording itself for licensed music, overlays, guest contributions, and other third-party material. YouTube’s livestream terms make the creator responsible for obtaining necessary rights, including music rights: YouTube Terms of Service.
YouTube’s live copyright system can detect third-party content during a stream and interrupt or terminate it. A rights holder may also need to allowlist your channel through Content ID, even if you have a license. Keep permission and license records, but do not treat them as a guarantee against claims: archived streams can receive Content ID claims after the live broadcast ends. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Choose a source and backup plan
Your source may be a PC or a console routed through an encoder; the right setup depends on the platform and equipment you already own. YouTube’s encoder instructions do not establish that every creator needs to buy a dedicated PC, capture card, microphone, or storage drive. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup, but does not prescribe a particular storage product.
Schedule and send a rerun to YouTube Live
YouTube Live Control Room supports scheduled broadcasts and encoder-based streaming. The encoder sends video to YouTube using a stream URL and a stream key. The key connects your encoder to the scheduled stream, so handle it like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not be able to broadcast on your channel.

- Open the scheduling controls. In YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go Live. Open the Manage tab and schedule a stream.
- Create or reuse a stream. Create a new stream or reuse settings from a previous one, then review and update the title, description, visibility, and schedule for this episode. A scheduled stream may appear as upcoming, where viewers can select Notify me.
- Set up your encoder. Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube’s stream setup and enter them in your encoder. Use the encoder’s playback or media-source controls to play the VOD file; exact controls depend on the encoder you choose. YouTube’s setup guide explains how to connect an encoder and start sending the stream: Set up your encoder for live streaming.
- Test the complete path. Confirm that the encoder is sending the intended recording and that YouTube Live Control Room receives the feed before the scheduled start. Check that the stream uses the right episode and that the audio is present and in sync.
- Start the encoder and monitor the broadcast. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions to start sending the feed. Keep an eye on the Live Control Room during the event so you can respond if the stream stops or the wrong source is playing.
Plan for YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says it can automatically archive streams that are less than 12 hours long; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Treat that boundary as a reason to keep rerun sessions below 12 hours when you need a YouTube archive, and maintain your own local recording as a separate backup. See YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.
Turn each live rerun into a useful archive
After the broadcast, review the archive’s visibility and metadata in YouTube Studio. YouTube uploads the archive by default; making it public can help increase the reach of future streams. Use accurate titles that identify the game, episode or event, and that the video is a rerun. Group related archives and highlight clips into playlists so viewers can follow a series in order. YouTube’s live stream setup guidance also explains stream settings and managing past streams: Manage live stream settings.

Do not treat tags as the main discovery strategy. YouTube says tags have minimal impact on discovery in most cases, except when they help with common misspellings. Clear titles, useful descriptions, and coherent playlists make the archive easier for people to understand and browse.
Understand monetization before building around it
Gameplay is not automatically eligible
YouTube says monetization of game footage depends on the commercial-use rights granted by the game publisher. Its guidance warns that “Videos simply showing a user playing a video game or the use of software for extended periods of time may not be accepted for monetization.” YouTube describes qualifying gameplay commentary as step-by-step, tied to the action, and instructional or educational. A recording being yours, or being streamed live, does not by itself establish monetization eligibility. See YouTube’s video game and software content monetization guidance.

Channel review considers the wider catalog
YouTube reviews monetization at the channel level as well as considering individual videos. Its reused-content policy concerns material republished without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. In July 2025, YouTube renamed its repetitious-content policy “inauthentic content” and clarified its treatment of repetitive or mass-produced content; YouTube said the update did not change the reused-content policy. Copyright and reused-content monetization reviews are separate questions. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Revenue features remain conditional
For channels that are eligible and have monetization enabled, YouTube documents ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and memberships for some channels. Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. Revenue depends on eligibility, policy compliance, audience, and ad delivery; do not build a budget on an assumption that every rerun will earn money. See YouTube’s monetization features.
Use Live Redirect when it fits the schedule
Live Redirect can send viewers at the end of one stream to a Premiere or another live stream. The sending channel must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Sending viewers to a stream on another channel requires that channel’s permission. Check current eligibility and setup details in YouTube’s Live Redirect guidance.
Troubleshoot common rerun problems
- The stream does not appear in Live Control Room. Check that the encoder has the correct stream URL and key for the scheduled stream, then verify that it is actively sending the feed. If needed, retrieve the settings for the intended scheduled stream rather than relying on an old key or URL.
- The broadcast is interrupted by a copyright match. Review the VOD’s music and third-party material, confirm the scope of any licenses, and contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting if applicable. A license does not guarantee that YouTube’s automated system will leave the stream uninterrupted.
- The live broadcast exists, but the archive is missing or incomplete. Check the session length: YouTube says streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Recover from the local recording when available and keep future sessions under 12 hours if a YouTube archive is important.
- The archive receives a claim after the stream ends. Review the claim and the rights covering the matched material. YouTube notes that an archived stream can receive a Content ID claim after the live event, so resolve the specific claim rather than assuming the live broadcast’s completion cleared the material.
- The channel is not accepted for monetization. Check publisher commercial-use terms and assess whether the channel adds substantial commentary, modification, educational value, or entertainment value. YouTube evaluates the channel as a whole, so consider the broader catalog rather than only one rerun.
