Yes, you can set up another YouTube Live stream using settings from a previous stream, but that does not automatically make repeated gameplay eligible for monetization or establish that you have the rights to everything in it. Treat YouTube’s “Reuse settings” as a setup shortcut, not permission to rebroadcast footage or a guarantee that a repetitive stream will earn revenue.
What YouTube’s “Reuse settings” does—and does not do
YouTube Studio lets you create a new stream using a previous stream’s metadata, settings, and stream key. YouTube describes the feature as a way to “easily create a new stream using the same settings as a previous stream” (Manage live stream settings). It sets up another stream; it does not mean the old broadcast is continuing, and it does not decide whether the repeated video is allowed or monetizable.
That distinction matters whether you plan to rebroadcast a gaming recording as a new live event or play it as part of a longer, continuous stream. The setup feature answers how to reuse stream settings, not whether a particular video, game soundtrack, or repeated format meets YouTube’s rules.
Will repeating your own gameplay affect monetization?
Possibly. YouTube’s monetization policy says content should be original and authentic, rather than repetitive or mass-produced, and should provide distinct creative, educational, or other value. The policy applies to live streams as well as other formats. On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed its “repetitious content” policy “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced content is ineligible under the existing requirement. That update was a clarification, not a new ban on every repeat.

YouTube does not state in the cited policy guidance that every repeat of a creator’s own gameplay is categorically prohibited. The risk is greater when a channel’s output looks mass-produced or the broadcast adds little beyond replaying the same material. Repetition does not itself establish that a stream will be rejected, but neither does owning the recording guarantee monetization. Decisions depend on the content and the channel’s circumstances.
If you rebroadcast your own recording, consider what distinct viewer value the live version offers: for example, original commentary, analysis, or meaningful interaction. These are ways to make the broadcast more than minimally varied playback, not a promise of approval.

Check rights for the footage, game audio, and music
YouTube’s livestream terms make the provider responsible for having the necessary rights to live content on Google services, including relevant music rights. The terms also say, “The Live Content must comply with the YouTube Community Guidelines” (Livestream terms and conditions).
- Your own recording: Owning the gameplay recording does not by itself establish that every included element is cleared for a live broadcast. Check the game publisher’s streaming rules and consider separately any soundtrack, licensed music, or other third-party material in the recording.
- Someone else’s recording: Having a copy, or permission to use footage, does not automatically settle monetization eligibility. YouTube’s reused-content review is distinct from copyright enforcement; permission alone does not ensure that repurposed material qualifies for monetization.
- Unclear rights: Do not assume that a game’s presence on YouTube or another creator’s past streams establishes permission for your use. The rules vary by game and by the material included; verify the rights for your specific recording.
YouTube’s guidance distinguishes reused content—material repurposed without significant original commentary, substantive modifications, or educational or entertainment value—from copyright compliance. A rights-cleared video can still raise a monetization concern if it is repetitive or lacks added value.

Choose between a new stream and one continuous broadcast
Start a new stream with copied settings
Use YouTube Studio’s “Reuse settings” when you want to create a separate live stream based on an earlier one. Review the copied title, description, audience and other settings before starting; a setup shortcut does not check that the repeated content is suitable for your channel or that its rights are cleared.
Keep a broadcast running continuously
A continuous broadcast is a different setup from creating a new stream with copied settings. Consider how the video will be supplied, whether the live presentation offers distinct value, and whether you can maintain the stream and a recording. Do not interpret YouTube’s stream-setup guidance as a specific approval of looping gameplay; the official pages cited here do not give categorical permission or a general exception for repeated gameplay loops.

Confirm that your channel can go live
Before planning either approach, check YouTube’s live-stream eligibility requirements. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Streaming with an encoder is one of the methods YouTube lists on its Get started with live streaming page. Eligibility to go live is separate from rights clearance and monetization review.
Plan for the live archive
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, recommends keeping a local recording backup, and warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. If preserving the full broadcast matters, do not rely on YouTube’s archive as your only copy. The archive guidance is about capture, not permission to stream the content.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your plan is to keep your own prerecorded video playing live on YouTube, StreamNeo is a cloud service for looping uploaded videos, rather than a tool for going live from a camera. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer can be off while the stream runs, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. It plays your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; the first day is free with no card. A slot includes 10 GB of storage, pooled across active slots, and 24/7 looping and playlists. The Monthly plan is $9.99 per month.
StreamNeo does not settle copyright or YouTube monetization questions: you still need the necessary rights, and repeated content may still raise monetization concerns. Start a free day at StreamNeo.
