To add continuous background visuals to an Indian music live stream, use OBS Studio’s Media Source for one looping video or a VLC Video source for a playlist, then place the visual behind your camera and other foreground elements. For a browser-based studio, StreamYard can loop an uploaded video background without its audio. In every setup, keep the music on its intended audio path and confirm you have rights to both the visuals and the audio.
Choose the visual setup that fits your stream
Pick a single motion loop if you want one uninterrupted backdrop, a playlist if you need several video segments, or a slideshow if still images are enough. OBS Studio offers sources for all three. StreamYard offers an uploaded video background in its browser studio, with documented plan limits to check before relying on the feature.
| Approach | Best for | Continuity | Main constraint |
|---|---|---|---|
| OBS Media Source | One prepared local video | Repeats the video after playback completes | Requires the file locally and source setup in the scene. |
| OBS VLC Video playlist | Several local video items | Restarts the playlist when Loop Playlist is enabled | Requires VLC installed; 64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC. |
| OBS Image Slideshow | Rotating still visuals | Uses the slideshow source; check current OBS documentation for detailed timing and transition controls | Shows still images rather than continuous motion. |
| StreamYard video background | A browser-based studio workflow | Uploaded video loops automatically without audio | Custom video uploads are described as paid; verify current plan terms. |
These options differ in setup, motion, transitions, and audio handling. The available documentation does not establish that one places less load on a computer or network than another; that depends on your system and connection.
Loop one background video in OBS
- Add the source: In your OBS scene, add a Media Source and select the local video file you want to play.
- Enable the loop: Turn on the source’s Loop option so playback repeats when the file ends.
- Set the layer order: Position the background source below your performance camera and any text or lyrics you want viewers to read. Keep the performer and important words visible against the image.
- Check the composition: Inspect OBS’s preview for cropping and framing. Make a short recording or use the platform preview before going live; verify the restart looks acceptable and the music comes from the intended audio sources.
OBS Project documentation describes its Media Sources in its Media Sources guide. A clean visual arrangement is a production choice, not a guarantee that every file will fit your scene without adjustment.

Loop a playlist of video clips in OBS
- Install VLC: Install VLC before adding the source. Match its architecture to OBS: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- Add a VLC Video source: In the scene, add VLC Video and create a playlist from your local video items.
- Set playlist continuity: Enable Loop Playlist. Leave shuffle off when the sequence is meaningful, such as a planned set of visual themes.
- Arrange and preview: Place the playlist behind the camera and text, then check the transitions, framing, and audio routing in a recording or platform preview.
The OBS Project notes that, unlike Media Source, VLC Video lets you create a playlist of items, similar to an Image Slideshow. See the OBS Media Sources documentation.
Use a still-image slideshow or StreamYard background
Still images in OBS
Add an Image Slideshow source when you want a sequence of still visuals rather than video motion. The source is available in OBS, but detailed timing and transition controls should be confirmed in the current OBS help before you plan a specific visual schedule.

Uploaded video in StreamYard
In StreamYard’s studio, add an uploaded MP4 or GIF through the Brand/Media assets background controls. StreamYard’s help page says video backgrounds loop automatically without audio and that custom uploads are available to paid customers. Confirm current plan and feature terms in StreamYard’s video background help. Because the background has no audio, route your live music separately.
